LION:. You are absolutely right: Brasil-66 is TIMELESS! I had the pleasure to hear them back in December 1973 and again in May 1975 here in Mexico City. Their music is as fresh as then, more than 40 years later!
You're so right; only in the '70's they were Brazill '77 ... I have seen them in the '60's, the 70's and the 90's (when they were called "Sergio Mendes and Brazil '99"). Wonder what their moniker is currently(?) 🤔
incredible, legendary , ambassador for Brazilian music from Brazil to the world still today you listen in the radio the look of love , foolish on the hill, the girl from ipanema , simply a genious , bossa nova at the highest level Ou Viva BRAZIL MOITO BOM
Thank you for doing your part in keeping this fantastic music alive. Radio isn’t playing anything except rap and I don’t care for that noise. But this is like you said. Like a summer breeze. It’s jazzy, sophisticated pop with an exotic element of the Bossa Nova Beat and Samba underneath it’s all anchoring it. It’s wonderful but I rarely see or hear it anywhere anymore. Ridiculous! Brazilian Music is every bit as vital as any European music. Maybe it’s the language barrier that is keeping it from the proper recognition. That must be it. Well, all I can say is the music talks to me. I get the overall feeling even if I don’t understand the words. Anyway, thanks 🙏 so much!
Triste eu ser o único brasileiro comentando por aqui. Esse talento monstruoso é do meu país, mas teve que sair para obter o reconhecimento devido. Abraços e sucesso a todos!

FANTASTIC! Thanks for posting. Brilliant job, fabulous picture and stereo. Can't understand a word they're singing, but who cares? LOL. Just watch, listen, and enjoy - and be grateful to the uploader, "BlijburgTV".
Mendez made me aware that there was much more in latino music than Astrud Gilberto and Banana Boat songs and Amazon jungle sounds, haha. It's related to jazz but swings much more. Mendez always stood for professionality, in the mid sixties A & M and Herb Alpert - no amateur himself - knew they had found gold, a bandleader who flawlessly mixed tango and bossa nova and american 60's pop music and, later, with disco and rap. A true founder.
You know, if you're going to record concerts without the benefit of a plug in to the desk then get yourself one of those Zoom Q3 stereo recorders. The sound quality isn't too bad here but it could be better and the Zoom's record sound (and vision) pretty good:-) Just a thought you know:-) Good video though. Nice to know Sergio is still going:-)
He keeps being a great musician, but couldn't he find a singer or better two who sing with the same emotional sweetness & devotion than before? Brasil 66 sounds now as everybody is singing together in the Maracana..... Sigue siendo un maravilloso músico, pero no podría conseguir una cantante o mejor dos que cantaran con la misma entrega y dulzura emocional que antes? Brasil 66 suena ahora como si todos cantaran juntos en el Maracana.....
Did he do an instrumental section at some point that you happen to have filmed as well? I saw him last week and fell in love with the version of _Surfboard_ he did during the instrumental break in the middle, and hoping I can find a similar version from another concert of his up here on YT. (I wish I'd taped the concert but the venue had a strict policy against it.)

Un adiós a Sergio Mendes
De la vida te desprendes
con tu música, instrumentos,
“Más que nada” hay lamentos
hoy te fuiste Sergio Mendes
al cielo la fama extiendes
sobre de una estrella nova
le tocarás Bossa Nova
al Cristo de Corcovado
que es tu fan más consagrado,
el mundo extraña esa trova.
