I'm 62 and grew up to Sergio Mendez and Brazil 66. It brought tears of joy of the innocence and purity of the era and sadness of missing those days of youth and happiness and people's loosing their decency and of today's corruption. Thank you for bringing the wonderful music into my life. God bless

I was 11. I was bored with R&R. After explaining my boredom to the local record store owner she said "check out this album just released by Sergio Mendes and Brazil 66. The album was "Fool on the Hill". I wore that album out from shear love of every song on it. 7 years later I'm immersed in Bossa Nova and Samba and learning to play those genres on guitar from a Brazilian native. Thanks for the soundtrack to my life Sergio. Herb Albert gets honorable mention.

I want to time travel 😩, I get so tired of the current era I live in. I was born in 1970, I adore and love nostalgia ❤. I am retro and have extreme adoration for the counter culture of the 1960's. I escape through music and movies, and various other platforms. I feel life was simple and easier to understand. I long for this to return, but I have come to the realization it never will.

I am planning, when things are calm again, to visit Asbury and Haight in Sanfrancisco. I want to visit the consignment shops, the art displays, and library. I love the books, music, and movies. I was blessed in 2008, to meet an older Hippie and she gave me her jewelry.❤ I wear it consistently and refuse to part with it 😆.

Somewhere someone is smiling the fool of paradox wearing serene smiles sees the world upside down that night without ending the evening mist formed tears from one too many lonely nights leading to unwise judgements too few knew of trying to break up with you and what was over wasn’t the brutal doings were sweeter than a caress the thrill of it happening and the horror of it being an awful mistake collided like intense and conflicting emotions with the illusion of progress the end is judgement day the good tidings sooth the struggles moving forward only the sweetness of a past intimacy remains to reconcile the harsh reality of the present and the eternal quest seeking the idealized essence of being loved and waiting no longer somewhere a fool is smiling.

I'm happy I lived in the era that produced this music. And can seek it out now, because I know it exists. Each year less, and less will ever remember. Just an enchanting, and nuanced version of the original. The brass adds just the right touch. I wouldn't change being a teenager and young adult in the 60' thru the 80's for anything. Even without all the technology available today. I would go back in a second. You just had to be their to understand what real freedom we had vs. today. I'm old now, but very content. I really like Beiber, Dua Lipa, and Post Malone. But it's not the same.

lNo strange riffs, no hysterics, never veering away from the melody, just pure classic latin/pop. Thank you for posting.

Agreed! Have you noticed the crappy crap that they have on tik tok? No human voice on many of them, just sound synthesizers.

Simple: this is because it was good music. Today, much of what passes for contemporary music sounds much like a washing machine going through its paces. Confucius, the ancient Chinese sage may have been correct. He said you can tell what shape the culture is in by the music they play.

The quintessential version of this timeless song. Way by far the best rendition.

Even though l was born in 64, l can still remember some of the 60s vibe that lasted till about 1972.

Great music. As much as I hate RUclips for the deliberately false information I see I'm thankful that I can listen to all of these old songs. It's truly amazing that this is all kind of free. As a kid I either waited for the song on the radio or had to go to a store and purchase the records.

The brunette singer, Lani Hill, is married to Herb Albert and if you have the opportunity to see him tour, she performs with him...nice Chicago girl found by Sergio Mendes singing at an open mike night in a club in Old Town ( I think!) in the 1960s....

I heard this before I ever heard the Beatles' original version. WHN in NYC, the flagship station of the Yankees (which is why I had it on this station originally). Lucky because I got exposed to a lot of great music before I was exposed to rock, including Buono Sera, Mrs. Campbell!
