i own one of these, great little thing, here's a few things in your video i want to add something to: 4:50 the seats fold a full 90° if you remove the headrests, thats the way i have it, never had the headrests in at all. 9:00 Yes, the gears are very short, although i personally would prefer 5th to be an overdrive considering i drive on the autobahn quite often, and sitting at 5000rpm all day doesn't really help fuel economy or driving comfort much, but as a city driver its amazing. 9:48 The car was actually used as a rally car ( in a modified version, of course ) but nonthless, you could say it has rally genes 11:30 Yeah, it's missing torque, but it's a 1.5l, what'dya expect ;) 13:40 That's right, the car is a GREAT little racer for the money, if you can find one for cheaps i recommend it to anyone, even if it looks like a boring grocery getter on first sight. 17:00 Yeah, the exhaust, one of the few things i dislike about it, doesn't look too good, rusts easily and doesn't really has a good sound either ( although once the vvt kicks in, it's still great ) 17:33 Indeed, the car is reliable as all hell, although my rear brakes just failed, so, not too sure if thats related or not, but i have no brake imbalance, at least as far as i can tell ( uneven wear, maybe? ) I can honestly agree with this video a lot ( although i dont think the car is very slow, just keep it in high revs and it'll go ), i appreciate this car gaining popularity as it is a really underrated car, and a cheap one at that. Great Video by the way, i'll definetely be subscribing ;)
Hey since You own it, can You tell me if it has any kind of traction control system? Or any safety feature except airbags and ABS? And what about the "computer", does it show any data like average and instant fuel consumption etc? What about headlights, are they any good? I am thinking about buying this car and i'd like to know this. Thank you in advance :)
Hey! It doesn't have any traction or stability control, just abs, the "computer" only shows average speed, time and a timer, not sure if you can read fuel consumption through OBD, i'd have to try that first ( if you want to know, i can check it, have an OBD reader here somewhere ), Headlights are fine, i recommend, if you buy one, get one with the foglights option ( the big rally lights in the bumper ), since the headlights aren't really that bright unless you put them to fullbright, i always drive with the foglights on, doesn't annoy anyone and i can see the road better.
What you strip out man? I've just picked one up today for €500 quid, 2004 with 80k miles for the track! I've a swift sport and it's great fun, the ignis feels even lighter to drive too!
I bought one because of PH and then wrote about it on the forums for a couple of years as it was absolutely great fun, drove it thousands of miles up through the Lakes, Scotland, Yorkshire etc and enjoyed ever minute. Would happily buy another.
Hi Danny. I went and test drove one of these after watching this. Of course I ended up buying it. Mines white with white mags. Love it its great that no one knows what it is! Beautiful communicative steering rigid body, loove the gearbox it reminds me of my mk1 mx5! Just alround fun as hell to drive. Brakes are excellent. Ive just got it insured so only had a chance for a quick fang. Cant wait to drive it!
I love my Ignis sport! Great little car! Mine is the same colour as this one but has the front fog lights and the 16inch suzuki sanmoreno rims which are 205/45/16, much better for the car. Oh and I've lowered mine with apex 30mm drop springs, handles so much better as there is no body roll. Also got a custom stainless exhaust which sounds amazing. Best little k car around I say
Bought one of these as a daily hack... Its so good, so much fun to drive, cheap to run and reliable as hell, handling is really good for the Speeds you can achieve!
From my tiny experience, I find Suzuki and Hyundai cars very similar regarding gearbox and engines especially from that period until recently where Hyundai is shooting high with all the experienced German engineers.
i got this as my first car for 1200usd and it's amazing, dosent feel great for highway speeds because the gearing is so "short". but for me driving in the city for the most part it dose the job well. also mine have the special livery that is yellow and with suzuki branding, and their "sport" exhust ( dual exhust in the middel rather then the normal singel exhust) and it really makes the car look so much better. it really looks like a rally car with the sportbranding on the side and the dual exhust. also for a cheap car it aint that slow i have got mine to do 0-100km/h in just 7.2 ish secunds which is not slow at all when all things are taken into acount :D
It would be nice if you could review a D series civic EK, a lot of people buy them as starter cars but all reviews on them are boring, would be fun to see you smash B roads in a D15 or so
Glad you’re uploading dan. I had one of these and I loved it. The fact you can smash the arse out of it and keep it legal speeds and it puts a massive smile on your face, 😎 2nd to 3rd if you got that bang on 💪🏻💪🏻
Love it. The amount of times I've nearly bought one over the yrs is ridiculous, just for something to thrash around in. But I still recommend them to friends and family looking for a small car. I needed a little runaround and the kids will be learning to drive next yr so I bought a Honda Jazz Sport. I tried to convince the Mrs to get a Ignis sport but she wasn't having it! :( great car and another awesome vid. I was driving those roads the other week, good fun dude and some nice views on a clear day
As a fellow Christian motorist I really like little cars like this, where a decent chassis makes up for what they lack in power. I like the Swift for the same reason but for a £1k budget I would still take a BMW Compact because RWD. Anyway, good to see you back Dan. Bless you my son.
Purchased mine 6years ago by chance needed a cheap runabout never let me down always puts a smile on my face when driving do not under estimate the power and handling of this little pocket rocket
Thanks for the review mate, ended up buying one after watching this. Cracking car at 18 have one in yellow low miles, so much fun and pulls really well for its power. Excellent honest review
Really wanted one of these as a first car. Ticks all the boxes and it’s cheap to insure for what it is. Only problem is parts are hard to find, other than that they’re great motors
Good rival would be my shitty EP1 1.4, flat as fook with bouncy rear end and loads of bump steer, fun though and a sweet gear change. Loved this vid, nice to see this little ripper getting some appreciation 👌
Had one of these for 6 years now. Bought 1 owner with 41k miles. Now on 85k. Only thing I have needed to replace was a track rod end and top mounts. It is used as a daily hack. Mines got the optional 16" wheels and with decent rubber they are a proper blast round backroads. It gets thrashed to death and still delivers 40MPG. The engine is also unique to this car only and is not used in anything else a bit like a M car ;). Fully forged top to bottom with a silly compression ratio 11:1. It is definitely a one driver car though. Gets completely killed with passengers!
swole mate, always appreciate the new content! for the money id get an old fiesta zetec s, plenty with good mods or 1.7 puma lumps for that money, and imperial blue > ignis silver/yellow
Suzuki Swift Sport zc31 has a similar engine to this with close ratio box too. Just that the engine is a 1.6L chucking out 125hp at the crank and about 1090kg for the Swift Sport. I think it would be a close one against the Ignis Sport.
oh my god, the tailgate plastic secured with screws and the rear speakers simply placed in the back of the trough. There was a professional at work. Have one, mine has now run 210k and still runs top.
Got one myself, on r888s braided lines bigger brakes ect and always in the dales blasting. Settle to Hawes! Always welcome to drive the car if you want!
they aare a great Targa Rally car. in the under 1600cc class great handling little motors. you should both enter a targa in it just have to choose who is driving.
Yes ! a small sport car ! I will look at this review. Can you say me on what car you go beetween Small Citroen C2 VTS (125hp) and Hyundai Coupé RD2 (139HP) / they have the same power-to-weight ratio. I'm searching for fun on trackday, not time attack. Thank you !
Hey Danny. Good to see you again, mate. Shoutout to Walter for allowing us to check out his Ignis. Althought the car isn't fast, it looks like good fun when driven hard. Actually, I had never heard of that car before this video. You guys almost put in a sunroof at 12:30 ... now that's a bump!😲 I know this is random, but the 'chase the fly around the cabin' scene was funny af. Walter had some nice dad jokes sprinkled about in this video as well. During the Q&A (which was a nice, creative touch, btw) when he said, "it's got a good shelf life."... Next question.😩😂 Don't feel bad Walter, I get a similar response to my corny jokes, too. You can't encourage us too much, or it'll only lead to regret. Overall, very solid review and entertaining to watch as always, Dan.👍 I have one question, but not a very serious one. How would you rate the Ignis vs. the Punto-ghini?😉 Cheers dude.

I've owned both a Yaris t sport and an Ignis sport, I found the Ignis was wayyy more fun to drive, but the Yaris made the better daily since it was a bit more refined and comfortable
hello danny for the dc2 : buy a welder whith more skill and experience , or swap the engine k20a in others honda car : ek4 and eg6 because you have all the trains in 5 holes, engine mount, gimbals, brakes.
Mk1 MX5 has a fantastic gearbox, similar power and similar weight. Similarly slow too 😂 corners are great, straights are boring. And for similar money to the ignis for a car that'll last a couple years till it's a scrapper due to rust
I used to have one of these with the factory optional front fogs and rally flaps lol. Review a suzuki baleno gsr it’s a 1.8 vvti with close ratio gearbox and as light as a feather and is considerably nippy.
I own one, EU version, basically the same except the wheel is on the correct side ;) Personally, i think the shifting is great, responsive, direct, not sluggish or "soft" at all, you can shift quickly and it'll get it done, in personal taste, the ratios are way too close, you can reach top speed in 4th gear and there is no overdrive whatsoever, which makes fast driving ( 130kph+ ) really... uncomfortable, and loud.
Ahh mate missed your vids these last couple of months. Its almost like this is your twin slightly hencher brother though, no mention of the teg, e46, mr2, v70 anything. Great review though Dan its a bit of a forgotten/not known about car these to be honest
Lmao. Some of the best cheap cars are light af and underpowered, I once had a 1992 punto 55s, thrashed the nuts off it everywhere. Gotta love a B road blaster. Great to see you back on RUclips after a long absence.
And these were the first cars that rent4ring started with before the swifts came along,, pretty sure one is still pounding the track as was sold locally
@DannyDC2 I've had one of these, had it for years and I still love even though it's admittedly slow but I have other cars too. Your pretty familiar with k20 engines, do you think one could be made to fit in the Iggy sport? I've been curious about this conversion for a while but haven't found any info in the land of internet. Anyway. Great vid as usual, I'm playing catch-up working my way back through your older stuff I missed lol

Been on the kale smoothies and smashing shoulder day instead of smashing out content haha
Hahaha I thought the exact same
"So the car performs well, but can I bench it?"

11:30 Yeah, it's missing torque, but it's a 1.5l, what'dya expect ;)
13:40 That's right, the car is a GREAT little racer for the money, if you can find one for cheaps i recommend it to anyone, even if it looks like a boring grocery getter on first sight.
17:00 Yeah, the exhaust, one of the few things i dislike about it, doesn't look too good, rusts easily and doesn't really has a good sound either ( although once the vvt kicks in, it's still great )
17:33 Indeed, the car is reliable as all hell, although my rear brakes just failed, so, not too sure if thats related or not, but i have no brake imbalance, at least as far as i can tell ( uneven wear, maybe? )

@@blumlaut7614 Hey, I'm totally late but would you say that this is the Japanese historical analogue of the highly touted Fiat Panda 100hp?
Suzuki still makes good cars. The new Suzuki Swift Sport is about 965 kg and 140 hp. Not bad at all.
why is dan looking huge now lol
He gained 10k subscribers, that's why lol
Ignis sport owner here, mine is fully stripped and weighs 820kg on the bridge. Fantastic cars, great to beat on and mad cheap to insure
