His problem is and always has been the eye test. His numbers are unreal nobody can deny his actual output on the pitch but he just doesn’t look good, a prime example of the opposite is Hazard, he looked like the best player in the league with how he played but the numbers were never there.

A Problem with giving him a 1 or 2 year contract no one is talking about, is he will be away for AFCON in December next year. If you’re paying a player a large wage on, you won’t want a lot of important games to be missed.

For Salah it should be relatively easy imo, you just structure it so he gets whatever for the 1st year or two then make every year after that lower base but capable of being the same through incentives if the numbers keep up. Tougher to do with Virgil as number of clean sheets etc. depends more on other players, but Mo should totally be doable that way.
I actually love the fact the players are putting the club in this predicament - because, as Jamie said, the club may not want to part with that much money for players of their age. I think the best solution would be to offer them a "performance related pay" so they could earn "top-salary" if they remain fit and contribute. If they don't, then... they won't. However, if they continue to play on this level, they could earn huge bonuses.
One thing which every one seems to not want to talk about correctly is, VanDike is an amazing defender which I'm sure can be much more valuable at a team like Southampton who really could use a good defender now, but at liverpool, VanDike is not winning games Mo Salah is. The entire defense line at liverpool are on holiday because of how Salah is playing. For Salah it should be relatively easy imo, you just structure it so he gets whatever for the 1st year or two then make every year after that lower base but capable of being the same through incentives if the numbers keep up. Tougher to do with Virgil as number of clean sheets etc. depends more on other players, but Mo should totally be doable that way.
I actually love the fact the players are putting the club in this predicament - because, as Jamie said, the club may not want to part with that much money for players of their age. I think the best solution would be to offer them a "performance related pay" so they could earn "top-salary" if they remain fit and contribute. If they don't, then... they won't. However, if they continue to play on this level, they could earn huge bonuses.

The entire defense line at liverpool are on holiday because of how Salah is playing. If Mo leaves to go play at any team in the world, liverpool defense would have to defend a lot more, specifically VanDike who I'm not sure is a great defender as some people think he is because he is not constantly being tested any more
