Doesn't look too bad, out of all cars on that trailer I would definitely pick that Dodge Nitro, even more so if it was diesel and manual. I don't like automatics and those 3.7 and 4.0 should be quite the gas-hogs.
Sreten's love for these classic BMWs somehow reminds me of Clarkson's love for Alfas. All these projects have their faults but somehow this guy makes them feel like it's the car's character. IDK how to explain this, but you make them feel human.

I think that a car's character or "soul" is representative of how the people who built it thought, lived and even of what kind of a person they were. In some way, it is a historic and timeless item standing for a piece of human history : it's a piece of art.

After watching your videos I tried to repair twisted seats by myself on my e39 530i And succeeded! (as you said in one of your videos, it is really satisfying) The manliest thing I've done this year. And also I've become interested in repairing some other thing in my car by myself. Unfortunately i have to be very careful, because in my living area i have a bit difficulties with some parts. But anyway. Thank you very much for your content
I get anxiety when we're 15 minutes into the video and Sreten is still assessing all the problems of his new car. Then I look at the progress bar and realise there's still plenty of time to break out the spanners and see some satisfying fixing. I love this channel.
This M5 was in the same condition as when I purchased mine. Several thousand dollars later in preventative maintenance and replacement parts...it's been pretty damn reliable for the last 4 years of ownership. Can't wait to see this series continue!
I have 03" 540i Champagne II with 52k miles on clock and I think it is the best car I ever had( drive only weekends), but my ultimate dream car would be E39 M5, to bad not for my pocket at the moment and it would be to expensive to buy later on... superb video !!! I learning so much about my own engine !
The German police has zero tolerances for breaking the law and driving whit a unregistered car is one of them! And I suspect that they are some kind of filming restrictions in place in the area since it could be some protected objects area further down the street.
The timingchain guides in my M62B44 were 332.000km old and complete. The car has oilchanges every 15.000km and long distances. I was so happy when I opened the Motor. Now its all new. It runs so great.
I love the fact that nothing phases you Streten. The love you show for these old cars is heart warming. Hopefully BMW will pick up on this and sponsor you for parts.

Chain guides are nice and easy to do, I just did them on an E39 M5 a few months back. Just take your time, label all the nuts and bolts, and clean everything.
Besides the M5- the king of E39s, I own what I truly believe is the next best thing: The '97 540i with the non-vanos 4.4, and the ZF 5 speed auto. I'm in my 50s now so, the automatic suits me just fine.
So lovely to see E39's on this channel. I've got a much more wallet friendly 528i and hoping to steal some knowledge on how to keep it on the road. This channel has motivated me to work on the car myself rather than giving it to workshops and already got a pretty nice list of jobs to try on my own - window regulator, steering overhaul as it leaks /unlike other BMW's, that never leak ofc/, parktronic ain't working, the rear sunshade, damn, this is a project now :D.
The joke about "BMWs leaking oil", is purely for like-fishing from those who never had a BMW, nor will they ever have one. Our F10 2.0d never leaked oil, our neighbor's X5 never leaked oil, our current G30 3.0d never leaked oil, I could go on.
I had an '03 M5. A profoundly awesome car for its day. It wasn't just the grunt, the chassis was so composed. You could pitch it sideways across a set of railroad tracks, and not spill your drink.
A 7-Series BMW and not one but two E39 M5. That would have been a stunning view of the best 90's BMW showrooms in the world. Classic lines are the best ones, clean, simple, elegant. Thanks man cheers from Italy!

i been an added fan since you started especially with that bmw m5 (x 2 now lol) e39 , and that e38 , i have both cars but a e39 525 i m sport and a 728i e39 which drives like it was built yesterday , no rust on any and keeping them forever . look forward to the bmw videos , peace.

Don't know about bmws? Car ninja (Hoovies buddy) is a BMW expert and has made a nice career fixing bmws. Dude has had years of experience and definitely knows his stuff. I think this channel (our buddy) may very well be getting a so called " mechanically totalled" 6 series shipped out to him. I hope he does. Haven't had much experience with those N engines.

Lol, my first ride in a BMW was 1981 in a e12. It was the first time I saw power windows. I was amazed. My dad drove an Audi 100 which was no comparison. My visit to a BMW dealership was 1989. Fell in love thereafter.
Door rubber seals You can use the passenger side ones. I had 530d few times back and did the same and it worked. And usually those are in one piece. ;) Just a hint, cause i know how much those new ones will cost You!

Of all the car videos on RUclips this is my favorite site. I like the owner as he has a good attitude isn’t a smart ass or isn’t too snarky. I do like BMW’s because I used to have an 88 E30 M-3 which I regrettably sold due to the hugely expensive maintenance schedule,plus I put 100,000 miles on it since I bought it.(It had 76,000 already) Biggest automotive mistake I’ve ever made. It was the best sports car I ever owned.😢

Hello i saw there was a steering angle code, which could also lead into DSC codes i saw there. It is possible to disasemble the ring with sensor under the wheel and clean the disc that reads steering wheel position, after that you just calibrate the ring and its all good. Hope it helps

Or N46, i have sold my 118i in May and never changed the timing chain, it was build in February 2007 and had 100600 km, the first time I could hear the chain was at under 70000km 7 years ago. I replaced the tensioner and was lucky that it didn't fail until I sold it. I sold it for 3500€ to car dealer.

All the DSC related codes could be just the old battery, you can easily test that by swapping in one in decent shape (but it does make sense to also check the alternator charging voltage). I had this issue on an e34 (a car with ancient brake electrics in comparison) when a dying battery caused the ABS light to come while driving. The BMW electrics specialist rebuilt the alternator and about 200 Euros later he realised that didn't help one bit - the root cause was a dying battery.

You can also use rears, though they are a bit shorter so you need to make a filler piece from the old seal.
Probably the friller piece won’t work for him.

All the DSC related codes could be just the old battery, you can easily test that by swapping in one in decent shape (but it does make sense to also check the alternator charging voltage). I had this issue on an e34 (a car with ancient brake electrics in comparison) when a dying battery caused the ABS light to come while driving. The BMW electrics specialist rebuilt the alternator and about 200 Euros later he realised that didn't help one bit - the root cause was a dying battery.

Thanks for the advice on changing the rubber brake lines.
I shall do that on mine... along with the rust restoration, LCM fix, ABS module fix and xenon headlamp adjust.
