      I detail for a BMW dealership and I haven't seen a 530i come with a trunk like that, so either that car somehow doesn't have a cover for the spare tire in the trunk, or I could also very well be misremembering because I have detailed all the different variants of the 5 series and they all just blend together in my head. Another possibility is that the spare tire is an added option for the 530i specifically, and that is why its so scuffed, however I do know at least certain trim levels of the new 5 series do have a spare tire underneath the trunk floor and it does not sacrifice trunk space at all.

Physical climate buttons, 8 physical hot buttons, physical sport/comfort/eco/adaptive buttons, physical traction/stability control button, physical headlight buttons, dynamic cruise distance control buttons on the steering wheel, no huge list of apps in iDrive, and iDrive 7 is just easier to use but really not missing much functionality to later iDrive versions. Oh, and I even get an extra storage compartment that they did away with on later models (the one below the headlight buttons).

I think my ideal spec of this would be a 540i (or i5 40) with no M Sport anything but everything else on the base 19” wheels (maybe 20’s…maybe). Built one on the configurator and that came out to ~$77k

    Excellent review, and I love how you started it with it being a 70k 4 cylinder 5 series. I could write paragraphs about this car, but to put it simply it’s a big miss. It’s a big compromise trying to be a platform for ICE and EV. The most noteworthy examples are the heavy weight, the un-BMW weight distribution on the ice variants (something like 53%-54% front weight distribution on this 4 cylinder x-drive variant), and the weird proportions of the vehicle. G30 540is are looking mighty fine on the used market compared to this thing.

Plus you need pro suspension which is an extra cost option but that gives you way better comfort and body roll control! And 1 more thing, you just need to get comfort seats, not sports seats, its a MUST! And i would suggest you get that light panel like in that new 7 series! I completely disagree on the turn signal which was my worst complaint (Cheap plastic and the feel felt cheap). My G30 turn signal has better action. I completely agree with the review on the interior screens and the need to bring back physical controls. I liked the G60 for its amazing drivetrain (4CY), comfortable seats (Soft as mentioned). Granted, it's a Toyota, the engine numbers are very decent. Now, we venture into the luxury market with a BMW that is 70k with an engine that is less than stellar. Interesting that $70K or so would get you an e39 M5, then an e60 550i, then an F10/G30 540i, and now just a 4cyl 530i. I would think it would be a better value X’ing the M Sport, 21” rims, and B&W stereo for a driving assistance package.

  • @mikedee42

    I’ve had 2017 530i and I really liked it. Minus the super hard Dakota leather seats.
    The new 5 series looking a nice with the following:
    Dark exterior color with shadow line package. Just black everything out. So you can’t “see” the front face 😂.
    I do agree it is very over priced for what you get. Not a lot is standard. For this price adaptive cruise and ventilated seats should be standard at the very least

    18:29 as you can see here, BMW invested a hefty sum into the development of their new car's turn signal technology to encourage their drivers to use their damn turn signals. Now you know why this car is worth $70,000.

    I have been disappointed in how rough these cars drive now. BMW was always on the sport side of sport luxury BUT they always were so nice to drive. Now they have no road compliance and with cabin noise and rough rides they really have taken the luxury out of luxury sport. It really has been a down hill slide since the E39.

    • @pascutia
      @pascutia 8 месяцев назад +2

      Absolutely beautifully said. I would challenge BMW engineers to drive an E39 on standard suspension (even on sport suspension) and try to convince me that this new 5 series rides better. The E39 rides so so well. I chalk it down to more sidewall and more of a focus on suspension design and ride/handling balance. Even an E60 on 17/18 inch wheels with non-runflat tires rides so damn well compared to newer BMWs.

      @@pascutia kind of, I mean I had an E39 for years and I also at one point put aftermarket rims and sports tires on it and although it didn't have thin tires, they definitely were low enough profile and still the car was so smooth and comfortable in town and at 120 on the highway. it mostly has to do with the suspension. I drove that thing all over Pennsylvania roads and it took all the bumps and never felt scared of a pothole. Even when I switched to winter tires it was amazing.

    I see all automakers are now sourcing their screens from the same Chinese company.

  • @DEVILTAZ35

    Wow this just looks like Chinese knockoff junk. What happened to BMW? They used have so much style and class. This huge screen trend in cars has just made them all look like a side show joke now.
    Porsche is probably the closest I have seen to still looking decent interior wise.

    • @filetofish7688

      They are appealing to the Chinese market nowadays, so perhaps that’s a factor

    • @DEVILTAZ35
      @DEVILTAZ35 8 месяцев назад +8

      Makes sense that class goes out the window then. It’s not just that though it is the obsession with unneeded big plastic screens. If a car has a heads up display then it doesn’t even need a centre screen. All the info should be incorporated into that so you don’t take your eyes off the road.
      Instead screens are just taking up more and more realestate.
      Common sense has just flown out the window.
