i've always wondered, how come indy never ever ever whips baddies with his whip the way he got whipped by the thuggee in temple of doom? that was really painful.
I think they did that to show hes more of an adventurer and archeologist than a soldier or a superhero. He never went too crazy to get rid of bad guys. Just a his whip and a six shot revolver.

He only used the whip for self defense or a tool to swing across ledges. Whipping in a fight isn’t very effective when someone is coming at you. He uses the whip when they try to escape tho
