Former North Carolina State University basketball coach Jim Valvano, as he was dying of cancer, gave a speech at the ESPY Awards. I love the driverless pickup truck as a metaphor for faith in the unseen. Every one of the characters looks at the empty cab in disbelief at first, then takes a leap of faith into the back, seeming to say "don't know where this is going, but ANYWHERE is better than here". Because they are all lost in one way or another, and it becomes understood thoughout the journey that with a little faith, it will take them where they are supposed to be. they also learn that the journey is the whole point, not where they will end up. This is masterful visual storytelling- no surprise when you consider that Sam Beam was a film professor at a university in Florida before deciding to focus his energy on I & W full time. Absolutely love this man's art, all of it!
Ooooh....I thought they all died, but the video didn't show their deaths, just the driverless car picking up all the spirits. (Girl gets lost and dies in the woods, kids die from explosion at that abandoned building, and the older guy didn't survive the fight he was in).

The song with the flamenco dancers just popped up in my feed so I came out to listen to some other music and landed on this. My god. I just started bawling. is this normal? After two years and losing the only small community I had, looking down the barrel of a major move... This song resurrected all that love and ache and even maybe some hope. I love Sam so much, the music video actually reminded me of a Rumi poem. “Come, come, whoever you are. Wanderer, worshiper, lover of leaving. It doesn't matter. Ours is not a caravan of despair. come, even if you have broken your vows a thousand times. Come, yet again , come , come.” -Rumi. All these people from different backgrounds come together and can be happy on a new journey together. They all seem lost and may not have much in common but they all gather and embark on something beautiful, it doesn't matter what they've done or who they were, they can be happy on this new path, together.
This song never fails make me feel like I’m alone in this world of worries. Because of this song, I know that we’re all lost in some way and it’s okay to feel lost once in a while if we put our faith into something worthwhile. Thank you so much for this song Sam Beam.
This is so beautiful: All the diverse wounded (in one case, literally), lost (literally), loving (...) people coming together, being accepted, and having "the time of their lives/Is all we have," in a place where "music is warmer than" the tribal blood that separates us, and the human blood that unites us.

I am happy to say I heard of this song before Longmire. Love this mans voice so much. When I saw him in concert I swear he hit a note that was so beautiful I literally could feel the Angels.
Every time I hear this song it brings me back. With all the uncertainty in our world, music will be the constant reminder that there is a voice to be heard. .,
I used to listen to iron and wine with my brothers. We bonded over his music more than anyone else's music. Now we all live in different parts of the U.S. thanks for bringing me back to a time long ago that otherwise is impossible to visit.
No need for a Novel. I heard this song for the first time when I escaped to the Eastern Sierra on a much needed getaway. What a welcomed tune and message to have at that moment.
Wow that was an intense emotional response to this song I just had. Haven't listened to Iron and Wine in a while and then I find this treasure! Sam Beam's music made me finally decide to pick up and try to learn guitar 11 years ago and I've stopped for a couple years now. But this has reinvigorated my old passion. Michel,,wonderful, inciteful observation. Lyrically this song is poetry,,,,2.5 million views,I can tell you that 100 or more are mine, beautiful song,,music, good music has an inherent quality,it possesses something that moves us,gives us joy or heartache,,, sadness,,laughter It has a way of conjuring up memories recent,or long past. Music can take you to a specific moment in your life,,,is it not interesting that a song once written and sung out to the world,is forever etched in stone,,,,and can mean so many things to so many different people,,,,I've went on to much,,your comment is relevant, and honest. I also have wondered why songs that speak of friendship, community, love, sharing, giving, relationship,,,get little or no play,, And like you said,,,the mindless, simple, clatter, noisy, material that is widely, incessantly played, drowns out and leaves no space for songs such as this one.

Say it’s here
Where our pieces fall in place
And the rain
Softly kisses us on the face
Anywhere means we’re running
We can sleep and see them coming
Where we drift and call it dreaming
We can weep and call it singing
Where we pray
When our hearts are strong enough
We can bow
Because our music’s warmer than blood
Where we see enough to follow
We can hear when we are hollow
Where we keep the light we’re given
We can lose and call it living
Where the sun isn’t only sinking fast
Every night knows how long it’s supposed to last
Where the time of our lives is all we have
And we get a chance to say
Before we ease away
For all the love you leave behind
You can have mine
Say it’s here
Where our pieces fall in place
We can fear
Because the feeling’s fine to betray
Where our water isn’t hidden
We can burn and be forgiven
Where our hands hurt from healing
We can laugh without a reason
Because the sun isn’t only sinking fast
Every moon and our bodies make shining glass
Where the time of our lives is all we have

I disagree. I don't think this is reminiscent of the earlier material, nor do I find it particularly special.
+Brahms439 - the world would be a better place if you had kept the latter part of that rumination to yourself.
My younger sister was murdered in 2021. This song gave a man who didn’t know how to grieve space to feel and heal. Makayla was always someone I could laugh with (without a reason).
You may find, Christopher, that she is not far away, and you may hear her laugh again. The veil can be thin at times.
I'm so sorry for your loss. Hold her memory. ❤
One of the prettiest songs I’ve ever heard.
It is rare to find a song that is so pure and uplifting as this. 😭
You know this was exactly what everyone needed. New, great Iron and Wine music
As of today 16 Feb 2020, 775 people have disliked this - must be sad people in more than one way. I’m 58, terminally ill and I love this song beyond words. ❤️❤️❤️ from 🇳🇴
I was having a real shitty day. The beautiful green haired girl I'm in love with doesn't love me. I've been crying, drinking. I open up RUclips to find some music, and here this is. I feel a little better.
Sam Beckett hey, I hope it worked out with the green haired girl. I do the exact same thing on RUclips, I used to post comments about her and she would find me on RUclips and reply. it's so hard sometimes. when you can't hang on, hang on.
hey so I hit the wrong button to reply LOL. I hope it worked out with the green haired girl. It's so hard, sometimes so hard. I do the same thing, have a little wine look for some good music, post comments. She used to find me on RUclips and reply sometimes. when you can hang on, hang on.
If it wasn't meant to be, it wasn't meant to be.
Hope you've found someone with whom it was? Or at least someone with whom there's an intriguing possibility?
(And maybe you're somebody's beautiful dark-haired guy, and don't even know it?)
Please let us know, so we won't be worried about you?
You will find someone that loves you as much as you love them. Give it time 🖤
Hope you are happy now.
I am happy to say I heard of this song before Longmire. Love this mans voice so much. When I saw him in concert I swear he hit a note that was so beautiful I literally could feel the Angels.
Every time I hear this song it brings me back. With all the uncertainty in our world, music will be the constant reminder that there is a voice to be heard.
.,
I love the lyrics. So beautiful! Very fitting song for the love scene in the final episode on Longmire.
I used to listen to iron and wine with my brothers. We bonded over his music more than anyone else's music. Now we all live in different parts of the U.S. thanks for bringing me back to a time long ago that otherwise is impossible to visit.
When I need to find hope again, I return to this song. Thank you so very much, Sam.
The lyrics to this one. Man oh man. Got me good.
I love Iron and Wine omggggggg just discovered this band. God bless you sir!
I absolutely love how God (as one sees them) is at the wheel of life!
The vibe is just so so pure!
I am totally obsessed with all their songs
No need for a Novel. I heard this song for the first time when I escaped to the Eastern Sierra on a much needed getaway. What a welcomed tune and message to have at that moment.
This song is my meditation music I went a long way to find peace from the us to Ecuador. It keeps me grounded when I feel in a world of insanity.
My first cover I ever uploaded was his song Fever Dream. Time to learn a new Iron and Wine song!
What an incredible song. Truly one of my favorites
Currently on an Appalachian Trail thruhike and this song and video brings me to tears...of both sorrow and joy. Everything Sam Beam creates is a gift
I could watch Longmire all the way through again for the third time just based on this song alone. Miss those guys.
I think the video is so beautiful and well done because he went to school for film before he was ever a singer. Sam Beam is a fantastic poet.
Wow, just came across it again! In Love Hard. So love this tune.
no horns, no fanfare, no over-obtuse lyrics here. Iron & Wine fans rejoice. let's keep it simple, clean and true. Thanks Sam.
CALL IT DREAMING // LYRICS:
say its here where our pieces fall in place
any rain softly kisses us on the face
any wind means we’re running
we can sleep and see them coming
where we drift and call it dreaming
we can weep and call it singing
where we break when our hearts are strong enough
we can bow because our musics warmer than blood
where we see enough to follow
we can hear when we are hollow
where we keep the light we’re given
we can lose and call it living
where the sun isn’t only sinking fast
every night knows how long its supposed to last
where the time of our lives is all we have
and we get a chance to say before we ease away
for all the love you’ve left behind, you can have mine
say its here where our pieces fall in place
we can fear because a feelings fine to betray
where our water isn’t hidden
we can burn and be forgiven
where our hands hurt from healing
we can laugh without a reason
because the sun isn’t only sinking fast
every moon and our bodies make shining glass
where the time of our lives is all we have
and we get a chance to say before we ease away
for all the love you’ve left behind, you can have mine
For all the love you left behind
You can have mine...💚❤
A wonderful feeling of great happiness I feel when i see ya ridin' in the back of that pick up.. with that sweet doggy.. then more people came.. they had smiles to share.. Thank you for sharing.. thank you for the pleasure.. Iron & Wine .. Cheers! Xo
Still one of my favorite albums...amazing song writing
It'll be all right, SAM. Longmire brought me here. What a series. Loved it. And they way they used this song, in the end, was touching to anyone with a heart. They ended on the highest note.
I died in 2019 but came back 2 weeks later. I fought to get back, to love and be with my family. So this song is sooo special to me, Thank you. I will soon die again but rest assured, they know my love
peace be with you
Wonderful song by one of the greatest songwriters in the world. The whole album is beautiful !
" .. Where we drift and call it dreaming
We can weep and call it singing..."

Call It Dreaming
Song by Iron & Wine
this video makes me nostalgic for something i've never experienced.
Call it dreaming
Miranda , your comment is so succinct and exacting.... spot on👍
Just go out there. Planet Earth is a wonderful place to live in.
yes exactly
Yes. Yes. I connect with your feeling.
Our musical poet❤️Many Thank you’s to Bob and his band🧝♀️
Some of the best stuff he's done in awhile.
The way the lyrics and visual images shown here are speaking to me is profound.
If they ask me about the best man there is, I'd definitely say Sam. His music is a witness
The more I listen, the more I fall in love with this song. No words, amazing, inspiring, soothing.
Wonderful! Heard it on an old Longmire rerun -WOW!
Playing this while driving through the mountains of New Mexico is nothing short of pure bliss...
Oh, your music is warmer than anything in this world, alright.
They say don't meet your idols, but this is one that I think would live up to the expectation.
Came here from Ed Sheeran's Afterglow. And I'm glad he showed Iron and Wine to me.
Sameee
Same lmao
I'll be listening afterglow after your comment.
Me too
Same here. Ha.
An absolute genius of a song...and a complete movie within its four minute boundary as well! The editing is superb.
Been keeping this song close to my heart. Whenever I feel lost and beaten I always find my way to this song.
What a beauty. Gregory Alan Isakov and him are truly magical with words❤
Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.
I stumbled across these guys literally just one song ago. As I find out more about this band, I realize they are older. But the music they make today sounds just as good. New listener from TN!
2017 has been a magical year for music so far!
This camera work is beautiful. love the setting.,It makes me want to drive across the country.
Some may call it dreaming, but I insist that it's believing
Oh wow, I did not think about that, well I hope you're having peaceful times nontheless :)
This might just be the most empathetic comment I've ever seen on RUclips. Faith in humanity = partially restored.
mimesis, that is so incredibly nice of you! Thank you so much, I truly hope you're having a nice day! :)
mimesis That's the power of Iron & Wine
I hope summer reached you!
Sometimes I wonder why does the good music receive so less attention compared with all the bullshit we usually listen to the radio.
The Target audience is less for these wisdom-full songs
Michel,,wonderful, inciteful observation. Lyrically this song is poetry,,,,2.5 million views,I can tell you that 100 or more are mine, beautiful song,,music, good music has an inherent quality,it possesses something that moves us,gives us joy or heartache,,,
sadness,,laughter
It has a way of conjuring up memories recent,or long past. Music can take you to a specific moment in your life,,,is it not interesting that a song once written and sung out to the world,is forever etched in stone,,,,and can mean so many things to so many different people,,,,I've went on to much,,your comment is relevant, and honest. I also have wondered why songs that speak of friendship, community, love, sharing,
giving,relationship,,,get little or no play,,
And like you said,,,the mindless, simple, clatter, noisy, material that is widely, incessantly played, drowns out and leaves no space for songs such as this one.
because thats the shit the corporations want to promote. don't listen to radio.
bECAUSE THIS IS ALL FALLACY AND BULLSHIT
People need to buy it.
Loved this in the very last episode of the Longmire series, perfect for the love scene.
So glad I found Iron and Wine - fabulous!!! And I am not in your generation - and I still LOVE their music! Old people know good music too, they just need to branch out and take a chance. : )
Am I the only one who's already watched this video about 20 times?
Егор Обухов nope lol
I have 100 time
@@setupatel1653 I have watch this more than 20 times.
I JUST LEARNED ED SHEERAN'S AFTERGLOW. IN THE SONG MENTIONED IRON AND WINE. SO I CHECK TO SEE IF THIS WAS A BAND OR SOMEONE. GLAD I DID. THANK YOU ED FOR AFTERGLOW AND IRON AND WINE. LOOKING FOR SONGS TO PLAY. AWESOME
We're all just people, along for the ride
Best comment 🤗💕
Fantastic... how is it possible that some one does not like this preformance... lovely song...
Thank you for this! Happy quarantine everybody.
I like hearing all the different ways people find their way here. I was searching for an old song called Hard Times Come Again No More. Turns out Iron and Wine have a version and I looked into them and here I am.
This song is such a modern classic
This is going to be one of the best songs and I do mean one of the best songs I've heard in a long time it brings a smile and a tear to my face
Beautiful song, the lyrics are wonderful. Glory be to God for inspiring those prodigious minds to recreate those stupendous compositions.
This just made my day! Thank you Sam for all the love you put in a song.
I think I am going to just start signing my paycheck over to Sub Pop
D Schlitz me too
The best Iron & Wine album since "Our Endless Numbered Days". Genius. Jesus wants me for a SamBeam.
