Meghan Trainor makes music for christian moms with #LiveLaughLove coffee mugs and houses straight out of 2015 pinterest. Also I found it ironic how in the title track she says that "current music has no soul" when she's one of the first artists that come to mind when people talk about soulless generic music. If her discography was a spice it'd be flour.

She thinks she’s writing the new “Old-Time Rock and Roll,” which wasn’t a very good song to begin with.
It’s honestly impressive how her musical style hasn’t changed at all. Her new songs sound exactly like her old ones, same instruments, similar melodies, same structure and everything. It takes skill to make the same exact song like 20 times in a row.
She seems to be having fun, though. A lot of artists seem to lack passion for their music over the years. At least she’s having a good time.
Meghan Trainor released multiple albums where she explored different sounds. Nobody listened to them, so her manager suggested going back to her roots and releasing doo-wop sounds (which she enjoys making).
I do agree she seems to be having a lot of fun and not stressing so much about charting. Just making music that she thinks is fun to produce.
@Alejandro She released Treat Myself, Christmas EP and The Love Train. She also sang as a feature for other artists. That's a lot of songs released (in a few years) considering she got married & became a mother too.
@Alejandro Agree to disagree then. I can very easily distinguish the different sounds between her first 3 official albums, with Thank You & Treat Myself being mostly a different genre to Title & Takin' It Back - Pop sounds vs Doo-wop. I was also surprised to listen to Meghan sing some Reggae and Mambo in her latest album too lol
You think having the same style would make good results? I worry about her mental health…
Impressive as it might be, i think it's because she knows this aesthetic is all she has to offer

It’s remarkable how someone can be “born in the wrong generation” and have such a generic, modern pop sound to it. None of the texture, emphasis on melody, and instrumentals that actually allowed so much past music to be special. It’s just a generic pop album where she happens to be smug and self-superior.

It’s so aggravating to me that the people who most often try to revive this style are the people who don’t seem to understand what made it work sonically it all, whether it was the whitebread ‘Put Your Head On My Shoulder’ type stuff or the original Black singing group stuff, because both genuinely do have their appeal if you’re in the mood for that kind of thing; they make it too digitally clean, too smooth, there’s no texture or, ironically since Meghan insists “new music’s got no soul”, *_soul, y’know?_* It sounds like prototype Westworld robots imitating it badly. The old stuff they idolize sounded like actual *_human beings with real feelings_* made it. Even if Paul Anka’s every track was crafted in a writer’s room the guy could deliver it with some vigor and sounded earnest.
@@ImpendingRiot83 Y'know, this is a good point. I actually do like some of that older stuff. Not huge on it, but I do notice a distinct difference between that and this. I think Meghan just borrows the aesthetic and style of it in a very shallow manner, it's like she's doing it for the quirk rather than using it for a genuine artistic purpose. It's hard to put into words, but it just doesn't feel authentic to me for some reason.
This album feels racist without being racist idk how to describe it
It’s not the Django Unchained type, it’s the Get Out type.

It’s probably because she’s a white girl who made a terrible reggae song, and a horrendous mambo song, basically using those cultures for her own profit, then turning around and making a whole song about how she wishes rap + other genres weren’t a thing.
Not to mention her wanting to go back to the 1950’s when people were racist, homophobic, and when men were misogynistic and abusive, all in a romanticized point of view. Basically disregarding all the problems minorities + women faced back then.

When you make your whole image About body positivity and your biggest hit is about your curves it kinda does have something to do with the music. Not saying what brad did was good just that it isn’t entirely irrelevant in her case
Wrote this on another comment but I think it bears repeating so I'll say it here too.
It was kind of a disappointing moment watching this as a woman.
It seems to bear out that all woman-attracted content creators inevitably, no matter how nice they otherwise are, will reduce some woman/en to her parts on a video at some point, especially by pointing out what she's lacking, with the implication that she's worth less bc of it (intentional or not, that's the effect).
It's tiring tbh.
The way it i see it though, If I drop everyone that does it then I end up with less to watch overall. Idk. That did feel like a tooth being pulled.
@@cw9475 That's certainly a real and serious issue, that female artists who do not put forward a sexual image are discussed in a sexual manner regardless, either positively or negatively, but as I said in my other reply I don't think that's the case here.
Meghan Trainor herself has introduced the topic of her body shape, and in the words of NakeyJakey, "If you wanna talk about the gator under the bed, I'm gonna talk about the gator under the bed". @@teethcoat4274 I wasn't super clear I suppose, but my gripe here specifically is more of a "setting an example" thing.
It's pretty clear that chat and the community are a reflection of a content creator and their decisions/engagements/values etc.
Brad is doing really well in addressing these topics like the whole racism thing so I'm hopeful this can be another avenue for growth?
Every time this behaviour happens it reminds me that, as a woman, I'm less welcome in a community bc expressing discomfort with sexism in particular will often result in being shunted aside/told i'm overreacting anyway (not singling you out here, i mean generally).
Then i'm faced with either having to quietly sit though scenes like this that make me grit my teeth, or dropping yet another creator bc wading through a sea of sexism and objectification then becomes a choice that i can make.
But can't we politely ask for good change, or at least some reflection?
You can understand that it would have been better for him to not have said it at all - I'll extend an olive branch. I think there was a line crossed with the video being shown on the phone and the slow motion part. Like "look at how flat she is haha" as a spectacle. As a joke? Idk.
If it had been more of a throwaway little snipe it wouldn't have felt so teeth-pulling. But tbh I'd prefer what you said, not even that.
Imagine he did this but with harry styles' bottom or smth? Idk I can't think of a super sexualised male artist (in the way women are) nor can i imagine a content creator dissecting a man to his sexual parts like that...bc it's a line they just don't cross for some reason.

@@ewoma8234 exactly lmao, people fr don’t wanna see other people win anymore
One of those weight gatekeepers woohoo. Live in action. God forbid someone tones up and loses the extra pounds, that's such a nitpick really. Comes across as butthurt too.
Brad u need to listen to newest carly rae jepsen's album
Brad said in the Midnights video that he listened to it and enjoyed it, I think.
25:34 sounds like a bon iver song
this album is just dancing around "all about that bass"💀
i tried watching this, even played it on 2x speed but i just can’t. opting out at 8 minutes, i’m sorry, i love you brad but i hate megan trainer with a passion and can’t handle a second more of her garbage music. you are stronger than i
"Taking it back to the days when they made that good sh*t." Isn't that just Meghan admitting that the style of pop music she makes, which was formed by modern music trends, isn't good?
I really hated the album and I went to the comments of on of the songs on RUclips and everybody was saying slay queen, she ate, sing it girl! Type of comments I can't believe these people exist
Made you look was the fucking song
@@albadelcastillo5575 Made you Look is my least favourite on the album to be honest, but she seems to be having fun producing doo-wop again at least
She ate too much
I'm all about that bass pro shop.
Be more into black things like trap music and gettin money. How about you do that instead of pluggin the whitemans companies like bass pro shop nonsense.

You look like Theon Greyjoy from game of thrones
I have always disliked her and thought her music was hard to listen to but so many people would dog on me for that… I’m so glad there are other people like me out there
🔥This that jump out the window music‼️‼️🔥
12:51 Baby, i got you shook, got you shook cause ain't no such things as halfway crooks. Scared to death and scared to look, they shook, cause ain't no such things as halfway crooks. Scared to death and scared to look.
Seriously, who thought auto-tuned doo-wop was a good idea?!?!
That Bass got big right as I finished military basic training.
It was a nightmare.
After going months without any music aside reveille, the anthem, taps, cadence and whatever someone feels like belting in the shower, folks tend to embrace the absolute hell out of the first bit of music they hear.
Too many folks were bopping around playing and reciting That Bass in Tech School. It was awful. Fortunately there was a cool remix of Tove Lo’s High All The Time that was being played on repeat by someone in the dorms a lot around that time as well.
Also, Taking It Back had cute music to it, but I’d prefer completely different lyrics and it coming from Ariana Grande or someone cute/not Trainor.
Bless the person who played Tove Lo.
she made one hit song and stays forever chasing that high again.
Her most well-known song is the worse song she has tbh
literally last night i was talking with my gf about megalodon transistor
Megastructure transfer
I love how she sounds EXACTLY the same as she did in 2014. Disgustang💀
I miss Amy Winehouse...
Hearing “made you look” practically everyday because of the shorts makes me wanna vomit. I hate that song so much.
It's all karma for showing up to judge Rupaul's Drag Race in a onesie.
She literally said that was one of her biggest regrets 😭😭 i feel so bad
once I was seven years old
How did her album sell 10 billion copies? There aren't even ten billion people on the planet.
album so good everyone bought twice
Everytime she says gucci on i hear coochie ahhwn
I put my coochie AAAHHHWWNN
I thought this was a retrospective on her 2015 music untill I saw the date on the music video
Brads continuous self awareness is what makes him THE most BASED internet music nerd
TRUEEEE i love how hes constantly so open, always telling us if HE finds some of the stuff he says to be out of line without leaving us to be in that limbo. hes genuinely helping shape a lot of people in a positive manner lol
When hearing the first distortion effects I thought that your sound system was glitching
Brad apologizing for laughing at that guy in real time is amazing
