It is my pleasure to bring you the Pokémon Mystery Dungeon 2 Remastering Project, an undertaking of mine dedicated to bringing one of my all-time favorite video game soundtracks to a new life. It is my belief that this music--composed by Arata Iiyoshi, Hideki Sakamoto, Keisuke Ito, Ryoma Nakamura and Ken-ichi Saito--deserves to be listened to and enjoyed by more than just the people who play, or have played, Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time/Darkness/Sky. It is a truly beautiful and widely appreciated collection of music, however with a limited potential due to the confines by which it is bound: a Nintendo DS cartridge. My goal for this project is to bring each track in the game to life by means of remastering, and in some cases reorchestrating, to the best of my ability, while at the same time preserving the natural charm that lies within them.
I hope you enjoy my project! :)

I really like the modern feel this one has! reminds me of amp plains a little! PMD always has the best mountain themes
The horn that comes in at 0:27 is probably my favorite instrument in the game's OST.

Been a huge fan of your remastering since back in 2016. I'm really happy to see it continuing once again as you're able to capture the essence of the music and give it a fresh coat of paint.
Ooh, good stuff right here. I love how it sounds like someone embarking on a grand adventure (though I guess I can also say that about the original version of the song too).
I like how it's got this really adventurous overtone, but it's also honestly just a goofy track LOL
I think it does really well to give off the feeling of adventure, and also as an early-game dungeon highlight just how inexperienced (clumsy, even?) your team up to this point is. Mt. Bristle and Craggy Coast I think do a similarly good job of this, albeit with a more serious tone
I don't know how you knew. Apart from Northern Desert, this was my SECOND most looked-forward-to track.
If there's more to come, I can't wait. If there isn't, I'm sufficiently happy. Thank you so much, TGH.

This is crazy! I remembered like a week ago that you had done a bunch of remasters quite a few years back, and I came to your channel to see if you ever did Mt Horn specifically and was disappointed to find that you didn't. Unbeknownst to me, you had actually revived the project "somewhat" (I read the description of the temporal tower vid) and this would be uploaded but a couple days later!
As always, you did an amazing job! Faithful to the original, yet remastered as if it were for a switch remake! Hope to see more! ❤️

It's a marching song that has a very strong traversal vibe! Good for studying and chill!

Fun Fact - This song is in C Lydian Dominant (raised fourth, lowered seventh) at the start. However, the melody plays at E minor with Bb being used as a sustain note. At 0:28, the scale turns into C and E Diminished, with the E on the top and C on the bottom to create major thirds up towards the B Section melody. Interestingly, the melody uses just the first five notes of D Major, starting on the third. However, to keep the major thirds going, the harmonic countermelody follows allow the same pattern but on the first five notes of Bb Major, creating that same powerful feel this piece has. At 1:00, the melody and countermelody start following the major scales, starting with B Major for the first two measures, G Lydian for the next two, back to B Major for two more before going to G Major. To loop back to the beginning, it starts playing arpeggios through several different chords. It starts at F Major to G Major to A Minor to B Minor to C Minor to F Major to G Major. To end it off, it uses major thirds again with C - E to Bb - D to once again reflect C Lydian Dominant.
Does this reflect tremendous effort on this song? Or is it simply a symptom of it being a short catchy video game song?
@@nickabbenhaus3980 It does reflect a pretty considerable effort since utilizing the idea of major thirds throughout a piece while still making it sound good can still be quite difficult. The main draw of this piece comes from the drums itself, but knowing where to place the thirds, how to utilize them, and knowing when to break away from it to help balance the piece all require a good amount of music theory knowledge or a really large amount of musical intuition.
