  • Horizontal tig welding root pass on carbon pipe. TIG root pass, using dip and constant feed wire technique for root and hot pass. In this video, I will show you how to place a good solid root pass on a horizontal joint. The horizontal weld can be very tricky especially when you just starting off. Here are some tips! Hope this helps!

Another great video, super super informative!!!
Even though now i can finnaly mach your root with no visibile "grapes" ,in this 2G possition, the video is still very helpfull to me. On 12:30 you mentioned about diferent wire feeding techiques. That sound so intriguing to see, if possibile some day in the future?
Thanks for the awesome work and knoweledge sharing 👏

Hello, have a good weekend, thanks for another video! I am in Finland now, we fabricate hockey rink freezing systems. Mostly all piping is stainless 2mm thick, no xray or whatsoever. We mainly use stainflux paste to protect root instead of argon purge. Weld puddle behaves better than without purge but still not so good

In tigging i would tack of coupons then tack filler rod to tack and tap the rod into gap. Between the two tacks i would tap the filler in to the gap and turn up the heat and go over the filler rod. The inside weld would look like a wedding band. Perfect stringer. No under cuts or over penetraction. I found this way it allowed me to turn and burn faster and more effective than working harder putting in the stringer. With the hot pass next, i could turn heat up higher and push my root further in. Man, do o miss those days. I miss the money too. Those were the days my friend.

Zelim ti puno sreće i uspjeha.

Thanks bud I appreciate that! The last time I failed X-ray was 2015 doing flux core on 24 inch pipe, in rollout! Machine malfunction caused porosity on the hot pass, it was impossible to see it with naked eye . Since then I always double check my equipment before starting to weld. For flux core only, tho! 😉👍

@@X3MTIG always so humble 😂if you could break down your process for that, and maybe possibly perhaps an in depth video about keyholing carbon in 5g on the top. I got hit with a closed gap and keyholed and dip with a 3 wire and the root was flush. I don’t keyhole my stainless but I know it’s gonna bite me in the ass when I get on higher alloys. Anywho, great video again man
