@@rossy5632 Hi there! Guess kinda better late than never, but I do recommend the book. The humor is very British and references are made decidedly for a British audience, which makes sense since both authors are, so if that's not your taste, I wouldn't buy it. As for stuff missing...there isn't a whole lot removed, just changed. Usually to tone down the violence just a little. I'd like to classify the book as a Dark Comedy and I thoroughly enjoyed it as one. Just don't get your hopes up for "more gayness" in the book, it doesn't happen. Both Pratchett and Gaiman have a very implicit approach to writing, so the characters will never explicitly say something like "I love you" but it's heavily implied they do. Sorry the essay, but do give it a try, it's the one of the last projects Sir Pratchett worked on and is well worth the read!
@@EvanWantsJamOhhh hii!! please don't worry about writting too much, i love hearing opinions!! thank you for sharing yours, i appreaciate it. Also, now that you mentioned it, i don't really want to read the book expecting to find more "explicit" romantic demostrations; i actually adored the fact that about the show, that you can tell they are in love just by seeing how much they care and do for each other. I guess, since i love even the most subtle details, i'm curious about which exactly are those changes, including their personalities, actions, characters and/or scenes. But yeah, i wanted to know what people think on the book, since i'd be my first time reading something from Neil and Terry, and i always tend to do a bit of research first hahah I'll def. read it, so thank you again!!! i hope you have a good day/night❤️

In the book, the scene where Anathema is in the car, she’s scared and wary for like two whole pages, and then Crowley says, “Come on, Angel! Let’s go!” ‘Suddenly, she felt safe after all’ Is that a misunderstanding posed as a joke, or an acceptance that Aziraphale and Crowley are basically a couple without even addressing so properly?
TFC 343 It was quite a dark joke really, I didn’t think I’d encounter something like that considering the whole book’s writing style is pretty casual and fun
The “I lost my best friend” also seems like a nod to the Queen song “you’re my best friend”, written about the writer’s WIFE. Crowley, who’s been involuntarily listening to Queen for decades, obviously knows that it’s a clearly romantic song. This is Crowley calling Aziraphale his husband.
The last scene where they were dating at the Ritz restaurant with Crowley was the one who paid was also appeared in 'Good old fashion lover boy of Queen' 's lyrics too. And that song literally confirmed that there were something between them, because that song was written by Freddie when he dated a man too.
The dude literally pulled himself up from the ground where he'd been yanked, threw up his arms, and stopped time -- all because he was afraid his angel bf wouldn't talk to him anymore.
There is no question to this. They are a couple(technically angels and demons don't have genders so not technically gay), they live in a cabin together after the end. Confirmed by author and confirmed by actors.
@Sehun and Jimin saved my life! Yes in a since they appear as male but as crowley shows in the book and show he doesnt mind being a female, like when he was a nanny for 6 years
this aged like the finest wine ever, but we all drank that wine after the result of a divorce and don't know if we should be thinking about how fine the wine is or how sad we are about the divorce.
im.otters I doubt there will be a season two however. Since series one finished the story of the book. And Neil Gaiman has expressed that he doesn’t want to stray too much from the original story since Terry Pratchett is no longer with us to provide his own commentary or additions
Hannah Merlino oh, thanks for that- I didn’t know. But a season 2 would be amazing tho.. just like what Crowley said at the end- humanity against heaven and hell.
In Gaiman's words "They're not male, they're not human. But it is absolutely a love story." I think it's interesting because they're quite a nice example of an intense, committed asexual relationship.
If you define gay as purely a sexual thing probably no. But if you define it as a loving committed partnership who someone who has the same gender identity as you oh yes without a doubt.
Being gay isn’t just a sexual thing. And when it is.. like someone just enjoys sex with the same gender it’s called homosexuality or homosexual behavior. Sometimes someone can be homosexual but heteroromantic. They have no romantic feelings for people of their same gender but find them sexually arousing. Or bisexual and heteroromantic or homosexual and biromantic.
they will probably finally get together officially in season 3 maybe even get married since fans don't want them to be physically intimate with one another
Someone: are you guys gay? Crowley: gay? Nope. I don't think so. What do you think angel? Aziraphale: nope, definitely not gay. So darling, I'll pick you up at 7?
I can't cite this, but I remember reading somewhere that Gaiman has stated specifically that the /only/ reason he didn't make them explicitly in a romantic relationship (or, at least moreso ;)) in the TV show is because Terry isn't around for him to discuss that change with. Through most of the production of the show, Gaiman said the parts he tried most to preserve were Pratchett's bits (which, for example, is why we have a lot of narration despite it not translating perfectly to the medium or Gaiman's normal scriptwriting style) and the parts he felt most free to cut, change, and remove were the parts he wrote. Good Omens was the work of two writers who were friends, so idk I'm a little forgiving of Gaiman not wanting to change something so integral to the story into something different from what he and Pratchett had discussed explicitly. The actors played it like a romance, Gaiman thinks they love each other, and that's basically as gay as I think anyone is comfortable making the story so soon after the late great Terry Pratchett's death.
i remember reading that too! i think it’s in the big glossy tv guidebook? maybe not- haven’t reread it in a hot minute but i think it’s good that he didn’t make any major changes because of terry not being there although i’m sure representation would’ve been nice :)
I just thought that about Gaiman not saying anything explicit, while he technically would have every right to say what he wants as an author (as JK Rowling has proved way too many times) there is a difference when the other writer, especially when they're your friend, is no longer there to comment on it as well.
Of course he feels he can't change much since Terry Pratchett helped him make this work. And I respect Neil Gaiman respecting Prachett since he passed recently. Now they may not have intended it that way. But all books are depending on how it is interpentated by the person. That doesn't make it bad. It's all you're own interpretation.
“You go too fast for me.” has two possible meanings: this relationship is developing too quickly OR crowley drives through London at speeds of over 90mph and zira would much stick to the speed limit
Honestly "Aziraphale and Crowley are two entities that have fallen in love with humanity. And in turn, may have done the most human thing like… ever. Fallen in love with each other." Is somehow one of the most beautiful things I have ever heard, I can totally belief that it comes from this channel.
The funny thing is that Crowley looks FAR more alarmed that Aziraphale may not talk to him again than he does that the angel might smite him with his flaming sword.
I think what really hurts is after the kiss and Crowley is just looking at Aziraphale waiting for a response and David Tennant just does so well in the expression. Even with those glasses on, you can see that Crowley is full of hope and sadness at the same time. His mask is down and he is vulnerable. I'm not crying. You are!
@@stevieausten1456 heyy homie. that's true, but when i say "gay" i don't mean men attracted to men. im bi and trans but i am still considered to be a "gay person". in this day and age "gay" is pretty much just an umbrella term for anyone in the lgbtqia+ community. crowley and aziraphale can still be considered a "gay" pairing, even if they aren't men! :)
@@stevieausten1456 ..."gay" doesn't JUST apply to men. If they are two beings who both lack gender and are attracted to each other...IT GAY. I get what they are _trying_ to do with the whole "they're not gay bc they're not men" thing but it's a bit weak. They gay.
I just realized that there's a major parallel that REALLY reinforces the idea that they're gay (not that there was any doubt) Throughout the series, Crowley and Aziraphale keep their relationship secret in fear of the repercussions they would face from their respective sides. Much like two closeted gay kids would hide their relationship from their families in fear of being disowned or other punishments.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who made that connection. Zira is the ultimate allegory for coming out of the closet and cutting the toxic people out of your life.

I do believe Gaiman said they are, in fact, IN love. They're also queer. Part of the whole thing is that they have no gender nor sex (unless they want to), their feelings, their love is really just ineffable. He resents from saying they're gay because this is a specific title which is not entirely accurate. He, however, said they are canonically in love, are queer, are agender (or at least non binary) and that anyone can interpret that whoever they want. The representation is there, it's visible. They don't have to kiss or hold hands (even though they do, when getting on the bus in the last episode), it's the kind of love that you see in their body language, their words, the lightning and the soundtrack and everything else, the kind of love that you have for the person you want to spent eternity with, your best friend, your lover, your other half that makes your heart jump whenever you think of them. It's true love, and it's ineffable.
Someone: "They are totally gay!" Gaiman: "They are angel and demon they don't have a gender, so no they are not." Someone: "But they are in love, right?" Gaiman: "Oh, absolutely!"
Did they expect that Good Omens would attract so many LBGTQ+ people and how they feel about that: Neil: *“Yes, absolutely. There are definitely people out there who seem to think that I accidentally wrote a love story with all of the beats of a love story including a break-up halfway through, without somehow noticing that I’d written a love story. And I may not be the brightest candle on the candelabra, but as an author who’s been doing it for a long time, I’m very well aware of when I’m writing a love story, thank you very much. And so from my perspective I knew that the love story would be one of the driving things that would get us from the beginning to the end.”* -This is from Ineffable Con 2020. Don’t know what other proof you need. They’re my favourite ace/platonic/alterous couple. I love that they’re *not* “explicit”; they don’t kiss, they aren’t ridden with sexual tension, their love is beautiful and pure and divine, and exactly the type of love I want to see depicted on screen as an asexual aromantic human.
Great quote, thanks for sharing. Love the couple for the same reasons you stated; it's great to see relationships that defy conventional labels in media.
I agree, the act representation is great but can we all stop demonizing sexual activity and making not having sex pure? Purity culture is inherently harmful and leads into rape culture and other crappy things. Maybe we can get to a place where both not being sexual and being sexual are legitimate choices and neither discredits the other.
Same!! I get so mad when people accuse Good Omens of queerbaiting. It's not queerbaiting when they are actually queer, you're just being aphobic. My aro/ace heart adores Crowley and Aziraphale and would stand with them as the world burns.
This is actually written ion the book! Someone said the first three assumptions made about Aziraphale were: Smart, english, gay. two of three are right. But hey can't be gay, bc he is a genderless and sexless entity. As such he can't be gay. At best both of them are queer. :)

On the whole “they can’t be gay, they’re an angel and a demon” argument... They still present themselves as male humans to the general public. They still appear as male to each other even if they’re really not a pair of men. I don’t know, but that’s still pretty gay.
Its like how some enby or gender-nonconforming people will call themselves “gay” or “queer” because in certain context, it can be kind of an umbrella term

Also, you can be nonbinary and use he/him or she/her pronouns- there are no rules and pronouns don’t necessarily equate to gender. The fact that they’re male-presenting would lead me to call them gay, but each to their own. (They v gay tho lmao)

In my opinion I think that they’re pretty clearly together? Like, even my parents who try to deny all gay stuff could tell that they are together. It’s not exactly “gay subtext” when they’re constantly eating dinner together or having romantic music playing in the background of their scenes or looking at each other like that. Gaiman has stated that they’re both asexual, so they’re not going to kiss or do anything sexual. But they’re in love. They’re together. And I think that’s great representation. Not all romantic relationships are sexual relationships, too. And that isn’t represented a lot. (Loved the video! :))
@@fyre_hazaard6083 yeah, some ace people kiss! It’s definitely a spectrum. But in my experience, I wouldn’t want to kiss anyone, but I would want to have a romantic relationship. So it makes me really happy to see that represented in a TV show. :) But, yeah, everyone’s different!
@Catix The Artist but if they’re both ace that aren’t particularly interested in kissing, I don’t think they would feel the need to. Personally I’d be perfectly happy if they don’t have a physical relationship, but I do wish they’d explicitly say they love each other
I don’t think it’s queerbaiting, as long as you’re not selling them as gay. (The ones who actually did that was the fandom) Let’s compare, for an instance. Voltron, after that 5 minute shit about Adam and Shiro that not even the voice actors read as gay, the producers went off on screaming “HEY OUR SHOW IS GAY”, having it in the lgbtq tag on Netflix, the creator doing art that said so,,, all that stuff Now, Good Omens, the book, was never selled as GAY ENTITIES DATING, the story itself it’s so much more than that. The protagonists themselves only appear in like, half of the scenes. Their relationship shouldn’t be confirmed to be gay with a kiss or something because this was never the intention. The whole point is about how relationships can make us human, no matter if it’s romantic or not. Yes, I read them as gay, and most people do but the point of the thing is about how each individual reads them.
I'm still salty about Voltron man. That shit irritates me. Now, hear me out, if they would've 1) kept the show like the did in the first couple seasons and 2) made Lance and Keith their couple WITHOUT selling them out as gay, I would be happy. Yes the fandom is obsessed with Klance, but the directors made it that way, which also frustrates me. But if they would've taken their time to flesh out a romantic aspect to the story of Voltron, I would be even happier. PS give Hunk more. Please. He's my boi. Deserves love. He could've had a real arc and he got swept under the rug
So I’m guessing Beauty and the Beast being in a relationship should have been left ambiguous? Because love and relationships influence and change people, regardless of them being romantic? No. I can understand a little bit of the frustrations of the LGBTQ community because they do exist, and should be represented in film, and the most they’ve got in film and TV is secondary characters and villains, and gay-coded main characters left to the interpretations of the audience. If you were watching a rom-com, wouldn’t you feel satisfaction in knowing if the main characters ended up together in the end or would you be satisfied with an ambiguous or left to your interpretation ending - not just sometimes - but all of the time, across genres, cultures, even if the romantic / friendship was just a subplot? Queer-baiting is indeed a ploy to attract audiences of all types. And it’s like they value audiences who are LGBTQ lesser because they won’t give them the satisfaction of confirmed relationships, but the heterosexual relationships are “safe”. It is also a ploy to keep audiences of all types interested until however long the show may continue. Because the “confirmation” of the relationships is the reward for staying till the end, or the “left to audience interpretation” in the end somewhat reward anyways. I read that Voltron had a lot of creators, writers and producers conflict, and that is indeed what happens when you are unconventional and have diverse characters and sensitive themes. They did a lot of characters dirty, not even just those who were labelled LBGTQ.
yes their romance is ambiguous enough for all people to relate and to place their own perspective too. It's something that's very flexible, and because of this it has allowed the fandom to feel accepted and create diverse work about it. It's really a positive thing, you know? However Neil did say that he wanted to "take the beats of a love story, and see how that works". The fact that he changed it into a love story has made the tv show more meaningful to many people. The thing is, the love is there, just there - you just have to see it for yourself. And if you don't see it, well your way of the perspective of love is different. It's a beautiful thing to put really, to make it almost indirect and concealed. But all the hints are there - the music, the expressions, the body language, their decisions together to be on "their" side. They aren't even gay - they can't be gay if celestial beings aren't female or male. SO, it doesn't really mean that people can't say they're gay - literally their gender is ambiguous as stated earlier so all people can relate.
YAS...but ok technically in the book and show it is said that angel and demon have no gender ' they're ethereal ' and then not technically gay but they are in love, is obvious to everyone who even glances at the book and show. They're not gay, they're husbands.
The way I understand it, is that Angels and Demons are non-corporal, sexless (in the biological sense) entities that can choose how to manifest their human-shaped corporation, which includes Gender/lack of. (Gender is a human social construct after all!) choosing to bother with gender is solely a matter of personal preference and/or convenience, but can’t really sum up everything they are.
im sorry i will never get over these two. the LONGING. the PINING. the MUTUAL RESPECT. the SOFTNESS. the YEARNING. the BLITZ BOMBING. the HOLY WATER. the RITZ. did i mention the PINING? the canon, 6000 year long PINING? bless neil gaiman i will love ineffable husbands forever
Could be. But it's more of a personal label. Also when you're whole species has only one gender I don't think that means the whole species is gay, it only means it's a genderless species. The label only exists because some humans decided heterosexuality to be the norm. However I'd take the argument that since they've spent so much time on earth though could have begun to identify as gay regardless. But we don't know whether that's the case.
It aged like wine, but they had to throw in the heartbreak storyline lol. It will hopefully end better this way than if they had just left together then, as Heaven seems to still be set on destroying Earth.
bruh i watched it with my dad too and i already knew that that man is *very* clueless about emotions (i mean the autism in my genes gotta come from somewhere and it definitely isn't my mom) but he was DEADASS there like Aw Such Good Friends (: like BRUH HOW did you not NOTICE it is RIGHT T H E R E, even I see the subtext even tho I'm also very bad at emotions (tm) plus it's like 3 am and I'm only awake because the story is interesting and I chugged 2 liters of coke
I think this is a really well done video, with a good message, but I'd like to add that for me, as someone on the asexual spectrum, it was really refreshing to see a central, deep, loving relationship be validated without sex or sexuality ever coming into the picture. No matter how you view the show, Crowley and Aziraphale's relationship is central, complex, and undeniably deep, and the show accomplishes that without sex as even a consideration. Not only that, but the advertising campaign for this show never tried to cash in on their relationship for representation cookie points. I agree that Neil Gaiman isn't some paragon of virtue, but the idea of this love existing outside of labels was really validating for me. Also, given that Crowley and Aziraphale are ancient supernatural entities who have lived through 6000 years of different ideas of sexuality, it would feel weird for them to suddenly latch onto a single modern label as a marker of identity. They've always been their own brand of queer, that doesn't fall into neat boxes, and that's rare in media, especially in protagonists.
I mean this is what Neil Gaiman explicitly said and is also evident in the text and show so he’s not even just saying it after the fact like it’s literally just true and as much as I like this youtuber I don’t appreciate him implying Neil gaiman is queerbaiting just because it’s not an allo mlm relationship
There's a passage in the book that spells it out. Aziraphale, it says, is quite definitely _not_ gay, because all angels (including fallen ones) are actually asexual. They have no interest whatsoever in physical romance, but they can pursue one if there's a good reason, and "even then they (would) really have to work at it." Mind you, I think it's clear that what's between them is really and truly Love. It was purely platonic though, but no less true for that. They just didn't realize it until they were up against it.
Danara De Jong Yes, iirc he even talked about reading fanfiction, both with fans on his Twitter, as well as in some interview. What a legend, honestly❤️
In the books: They're not gay, they're literally, deliberately, not gendered characters as we understand it - that said they are expressly written as a couple- I think they were described as 'an old married couple' by Gaiman. Gaiman also said in an interview about the show the only reason he didn't make them openly a gay couple in the TV show is because Terry Pratchett wasn't around to make that decision together with him about their characters. Head-canon: They are extremely gay and I love them.
The thing is, I like it better what's it's not directly said. If it's blunt enough for some bigots to bristle at the series and most people to call them husbands, do they need to say they're gay? Did Disney need to say, Snow White, Cinderella, and Sleeping Beauty are straight with their prince charmings?
Also the book has the typical STP sense of drama, that's *there* but not that huge. If you compare Good Omens with that drama thing being romantic love in mind to the discworld books, Nanny and Esme are gay (not a bad idea at all hahaha) and the entire watch is gay for Sam and the entirety of Ankh-Morpork is gay for Carrot except Vetinari, who is mah aroace babey. Also he's a pretty heartless genius and I love him. Ofc you can see Azi and Crowley as a couple, but I like to interpret that also as a sign that men can indeed be best friends and they can care for each other and cry over the others disappearence just like female characters do without being labelled as unmanly or gay. But that's just my opinion. (btw. I love seing Azi and Crowley as an old married couple but I also love seing male characters in fantasy not being forced to toxic masculinity by authors, but what do I know)

In Gaiman’s defense, in the book, Aziraphael and Crowley are barely there (and their whole 6 thousand years’ long relationship with Victorians, Nazis and so on) was made exclusively for the show *because* so many readers noticed the subtext and shipped them. So the show was indeed sooo much gayer than the book. And I also like the asexual reading of the show - if you consider angels and demons as physically sexless, we were shown the extent of their love.

do you recommend the book? i'm thinking on buying it...like, are there things missing in the show from the book?
But yeah, i wanted to know what people think on the book, since i'd be my first time reading something from Neil and Terry, and i always tend to do a bit of research first hahah

Being gay isn’t just a sexual thing. And when it is.. like someone just enjoys sex with the same gender it’s called homosexuality or homosexual behavior.
Yeah that's what I thought too!
I just thought that about Gaiman not saying anything explicit, while he technically would have every right to say what he wants as an author (as JK Rowling has proved way too many times) there is a difference when the other writer, especially when they're your friend, is no longer there to comment on it as well.
But he did put in lots of details that hint to le romance
Of course he feels he can't change much since Terry Pratchett helped him make this work. And I respect Neil Gaiman respecting Prachett since he passed recently.
Now they may not have intended it that way. But all books are depending on how it is interpentated by the person. That doesn't make it bad.
It's all you're own interpretation.

Hello
SSSSSSSSSLITHERING AROUND LIKE A CROWLEY
Very well put
I love it.
Just little things that show that someone cares about you is satisfactory for me. :)
It's all so pure
Someone: "They are totally gay!"
Gaiman: "They are angel and demon they don't have a gender, so no they are not."

And I may not be the brightest candle on the candelabra, but as an author who’s been doing it for a long time, I’m very well aware of when I’m writing a love story, thank you very much. And so from my perspective I knew that the love story would be one of the driving things that would get us from the beginning to the end.”*
-This is from Ineffable Con 2020.

Uh... Well they could technically kiss? Thats not exactly excluded from Ace people.
@Michael Is The Big Gay oh ya true, im ace and im cool w kissing but theres plenty of aces who arent
Right? My dad wasn't homophobic, exactly, but... Lol, he probably would've felt uncomfortable watching this series.
@Catix The Artist but if they’re both ace that aren’t particularly interested in kissing, I don’t think they would feel the need to. Personally I’d be perfectly happy if they don’t have a physical relationship, but I do wish they’d explicitly say they love each other
well.... they are. But i'm still depressed... 🎶Everyday, I’m just getting closer ! Gonna take a bath with my f@king toaster !🎶

A-hey a-hey hey- 😭😭😭😭🎶
I don’t think it’s queerbaiting, as long as you’re not selling them as gay. (The ones who actually did that was the fandom)
Let’s compare, for an instance. Voltron, after that 5 minute shit about Adam and Shiro that not even the voice actors read as gay, the producers went off on screaming “HEY OUR SHOW IS GAY”, having it in the lgbtq tag on Netflix, the creator doing art that said so,,, all that stuff
Now, Good Omens, the book, was never selled as GAY ENTITIES DATING, the story itself it’s so much more than that. The protagonists themselves only appear in like, half of the scenes. Their relationship shouldn’t be confirmed to be gay with a kiss or something because this was never the intention. The whole point is about how relationships can make us human, no matter if it’s romantic or not. Yes, I read them as gay, and most people do but the point of the thing is about how each individual reads them.
not gonna lie your comment deserves a lot more likes
Neil Gaiman (the author) confirmed they are

AND AZIRAPHALES SCANDALIZED ',,,no?' HKGXSJHKHHFGSKHDFKDH
YAS...but ok technically in the book and show it is said that angel and demon have no gender ' they're ethereal ' and then not technically gay but they are in love, is obvious to everyone who even glances at the book and show.
They're not gay, they're husbands.
He uses "gay" as an umbrella term for non-straight relationships. He said that in the beginning of the video
Agender is the word
At least: they are not straight.
Thrilled by everyone touching base here after season 2, it feels like a family reunion

Exactly!!
good for them!!

Yes. This comment wins.
so they're genderless, right? Wouldn't them both being agender technically also make the the same gender? so it *is* gay??-
Interesting..🤔
But we don't know whether that's the case.
huh 🧐🤔
Aziraphale❤️Crowley
ok so not i'm the only one who think this xd
I cannot tell if this is considered aging like wine and aging like milk but i remember watching this when it came out
It aged like wine, but they had to throw in the heartbreak storyline lol. It will hopefully end better this way than if they had just left together then, as Heaven seems to still be set on destroying Earth.

Bro. Even my dad thought they were gay. My dad, who has no strong opinions on anything much, thought they were gay. That makes it canon Idc

I've always seen them as an ace gay couple. And the cutest thing in the world
It's funny how I'm not even gay (am ace though) and I think this is the couple I ship the hardest. The ace rep is fantastic❤️
They have no interest whatsoever in physical romance, but they can pursue one if there's a good reason, and "even then they (would) really have to work at it."
Mind you, I think it's clear that what's between them is really and truly Love. It was purely platonic though, but no less true for that. They just didn't realize it until they were up against it.
@@YugSihtTsuj being ace doesn’t mean you don’t want a relationship or romance

Michael probably suggested they should do are they gay vid about Aziraphale and Crowley
Can you please do a sequel called “They ARE gay!” featuring all of the delightful little husband moments from S2?
It's literally canon
(btw. I love seing Azi and Crowley as an old married couple but I also love seing male characters in fantasy not being forced to toxic masculinity by authors, but what do I know)
@@adsfornothing3146 oh yes definitely. i love them as a couple because i ship absolutely everything but even as friends its really cute how they enjoy each others' company

@HQ Ten would be like : « I’m ginger?! »
I FUCKING DIED I'LL HAVE YOU KNOW I GREW UP WITH THE 10TH DOCTOR LMAO
In Gaiman’s defense, in the book, Aziraphael and Crowley are barely there (and their whole 6 thousand years’ long relationship with Victorians, Nazis and so on) was made exclusively for the show *because* so many readers noticed the subtext and shipped them. So the show was indeed sooo much gayer than the book. And I also like the asexual reading of the show - if you consider angels and demons as physically sexless, we were shown the extent of their love.
Just here to say that David Tennant and Michael Sheen not only hold hands when they feel like it, nope, they have said that they would marry each other if they weren't married with their amazing wifes.
So being gay in a rom-com really connected them huh
