Copland was "inspired" by William Stepp's rendition of Bonaprate's Retreat: ruclips.net/video/nMEfyacuRnU/видео.html (arguably Stepp should've gotten some arranger's credit as much of the Copland piece consists of music unique to Stepp's arrangement of the trad fiddle piece)
When they did this live it was even better, Aaron Copland was a really cool guy who encouraged them to do it And actually told them to be even more aggressive & Do not hold anything back
Having grown up in the metronomed 80s, I always saw the sudden tempo shift at 1:39 as a mistake. Hearing it now, I see it as a genius correction to bring everyone back in synch with the glissing keyboard.
Thank you, Aaron Copland and Emerson, Lake and Palmer for the Joy to hear this music. Keep going Carl...with the legacy!
Keith loved a bit of Americana.
Copland loved elp! He encouraged them to be more aggressive in the version!
He was really cool guy!

This is a great wake up jam. Gets the blood going
I LOVE this piece. The way Keith's keys and Carl's drums move together is simply brilliant 💖💖. Trilogy, my ELP album 😊😊😊
The drum part is brilliantly written!!
I am so thankful these guys combined their collective geniuses. You run out of words😊
And dat bass as well 💃🏻🕺🏻♑♋💞
Hearing this makes this 70 year old young again… Saw ELP twice in concert and this brings back such beautiful memories.
I remember the first time my dad showed me these guys in the early 90's. I've loved them ever since!!
Emerson was a God of the keyboards!

Nyan cat.
Kikn, eh.
Lyrics? Hell no, that would just be tragic and utter blasphemy.
The original modern classical piece ("Hoe-down" by Aaron Copland) was devoid of lyrics too...
The only words applicable is BEEF... IT'S WHAT'S FOR DINNER
