"Dance Moms" follows Abby Lee Miller and the nation's favorite tween dancers as they take on Hollywood while new auditions, new competitions, and new studios raise the stakes.
The road has not been easy for “Dance Mom’s” star Abby Lee Miller. After completing her prison sentence last year, the famed dance instructor was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. But if anything, Abby has proven she is a fighter and is not ready to hang up the dance shoes. The new season of Dance Moms follows Abby as she rebuilds her dance company while battling the after-effects of cancer that has left her confined to a wheelchair. Abby is ready to get back to her life and do what she loves most…teaching students to dance! With the goal of putting her life, health and dance studio back together, Abby returns to where it all began - the Abby Lee Dance Company in Pittsburgh.

Because these are competitions: the artistic value pf a coreography comes after the level of difficulty and the execution of the steps. Waiting room is a beautiful choreography, but it is not technically that difficult compared to others. And half of the dancers in the Waiting Room have a mediocre level for the competitive world.
Poor Chloe, when Abby picks on her I can just see how defeated she feels.
She's the worst. How can you do that to a little girl? She even counted the votes in front of her. She's evil.

my problem is that abby doesn’t realize that choreography also has a lot to do with the win. if she thinks something is amazing and all that before the results and then they get the results and all of a sudden it’s awful then maybe do something different with the choreo

When Holly said "tell her to stop crying!" Holly actually said "don't tell her to stop crying!" because Melissa (I think) yelled at Maddie and told her to stop crying. So the producers edited it!
second is always the first to lose for abby... but getting second to me is like winning big time.

I always believed that right after Maddie’s Disappear solo that she really started crying because she actually felt the emotion of her dance piece and wasn’t expecting it to take her to an overwhelming place. Saying that it was because she was unhappy her mom wasn’t there was probably the only thing she could think of because she was way too young to comprehend exactly what was happening to her.
i agree, she was young and even olde people don’t accept some of their emotions so of course she wouldn’t immediately think she was just feeling the dance on a personal level

Whilst 'The Waiting Room' was an amazing and emotional piece, I think the reason it got second was because it was more of a piece than something for a dance competition.

They both had good execution but let’s face it. Even if Chloe didn’t forget, she still wouldn’t win. Her choreo was boring and bland, and Maddie’s was beautiful, flowy and the perfect summary of a national title. Want me to explain again?

I’m not gonna lie, watching this show and hearing Abby say over and over “second is the first to lose” really heavily affected me when I was awarded 2nd in state for a vocal solo and I was 18 years old. I can only imagine what it did to these kids.
That sucks 😭 but the girls stayed strong and so can you! Btw, getting second is an AMAZING accomplishment. I hope you are proud of yourself 🥺
Abby's treatment of Chloe throughout the entire series is beyond reprehensible. Because of that, she lost an amazing talent. And that's when the ALDC went downhill.
Being from the UK, I really loved the spice girls routine they did. Their costumes looked just like what the spice girls wore and I personally thought that the dance should've got first as it was something fresh and is one of my favourite dances the ALDC did.
I still don't understand why she got her own show if it wasn't for those girls she would've been a nobody but it's beyond me?!!!
It is a reality tv show so she was teaching before
Abby Lee is a sociopath but she is actually a real dancer teacher with credibility. She put people on Broadway.

Maddies a better dancer then a lot of the kids because she dances loose and Chloe was so close in season 3 and 4 but she didn’t dance anymore

I never was on a dance team but I ran track for a few years. I had two coaches. Antonio was like the "fun dad" and Keyasa was the more stern disciplinary. They worked us hard during practice and they were very blunt about our critiques but when it came time for the meets they were nothing but supportive all day. We stayed warmed up, kept the energy and our words positive. They never said things like "if you guys lose the relay race it's Courtney's fault" right before we get onto the track. Abby talks to these children wild!

The waiting room should've won, but Abby should have let the girls sit and wait till the awards ceremony was over because when the aldc wins other teams sit and wait whether they place or not. It doesn't look good.

I agree the waiting room should not have won... It was very little group dancing. And Ava did something different. Someone special was just another Maddie solo. It was good, but I feel like I've seen it a blue million times
I respect your opinion and I see what you’re saying. However, in my opinion, just because something’s the same doesn’t mean that it doesn’t deserve to win.
A lot of Kenzie’s choreographies were also really repetitive, and so were Chloe’s and Kalani’s. We might have seen Maddie do the same thing but the judges haven’t.
As a dancer, it was noticeable that Maddie had better technique that particular day and her fluidity was off the charts - that’s why everyone felt like she’d been cheated. The only thing Ava had over Maddie during that particular competition was better choreography.
I feel like every one of her ALDC dances had to have her making anxious expressions and falling out of a turn sequence. It got to be so boring.
It made her look like a one trick dancer.

I honestly think Abby clapping at Kalani had something to do with the choreographer. I believe Alexa from Club Dance choreographed “False” and that’s why Abby was happy that she lost with that solo.

It wasn’t edited. Holly even confirms it on her Twitter. She told Maddie to stop crying because there is no reason to be upset about 2nd place. 2nd place is still great, regardless of what Abby says.
