I wish for video editing people would test timeline performance and denoising instead of export times. This to me is much more important as I don’t mind leaving a long export running overnight but I do care about how smooth the actual editing experience is

      @iXeo81 8 месяцев назад +28

They did that in the past and it was always very smooth (M1, M2). I think this is why they do not mention it anymore. Of course if you do multitasking and use bigger files or bigger projects you need more RAM and maybe more storage.
8GB: Great for browsing online, streaming movies, messaging with friends and family, editing photos and personal video, casual gaming, and running everyday productivity apps.
16GB: Great if you will be multitasking across a large number of memory-intensive apps, including professional video editing.
24GB or more: Best if you typically work on advanced projects that require enormous files and content libraries.

It seems that actual remaining battery capacity of the M2 Max test machine needs to be accounted for when comparing it to the M3 Max with its new battery in order to properly evaluate how long each machine will be able to operate on battery - especially if one is considering purchasing an M2 Max.

Thank you for including the timestamps; I went straight to the Blender test since the main feature in the M3 APU is the graphics improvements. Rendering is a significant aspect of 3D modeling and animation, but even more important is the creative process. This is why viewport performance is crucial for 3D graphics designers. The ability to preview the scene (composition) in real-time at a quality level closer to the final product is the holy grail of 3D animation and something that can't be tested with synthetic benchmarks.

    Hey @maxthecofficial! Question:
Since for LOGIC PRO X the amount of cores seems to be more important than the speed they can achieve, GPU being also less important
I was wondering what a comparison look like for
    MBP 14 (M3 Max 16 Core Cpu - 40 GPU - 16 Neural) 128 RAM - 2 or 4 TB SSD
    vs
    Mac Studio (M2 Ultra 24 Core CPU - 60 GPU - 32 Neural Eng) 192 Ram 2 or 4 TB SSD
Are the more Cores help Logic work faster and better? Or is the Processors speed help the computer more?

Great video. It would be amazing if you make on of your gaming videos proven real life performance. I would like to know if now is possible to game windows as when intel chips allows it natively or parallels worth it the upgrade.

Nice video! I'm very tempted to buy this new spaceblack M3 Max 16" (I'm still one of those oldschoolers with a 2019 Intel), but I think I'll wait for the Studio upgrade because the "price per performance" is going to be better for me.

Nice video. M3 Max chip is great chip indeed, but for me it's also very interesting how unbend M2 Max compares to base M3 Max (14 core CPU and 30 core GPU), as it's direct replacement for that and priced exactly the same. Haven't seen them compared yet.

Great news for 3D rendering. Only issue remaining now is the lack of a Numpad. Blender can simulate the numpad keys but I would prefer to have one. Perhaps in future versions they could offer a full size keyboard option. The problem I see with that though is the speaker might get in the way. Hopefully they find a way to do this in the future. Great vid guys as always.

They unlikely to offer full size keyboard in future... But you can buy an external numpad.

The video editing test are not enough to have a true feel of the performance, maybe you could test the timeline smoothness by looking at the fps while noise reduction apply for exemple. But thank you for all the great work you do !

If you really want to 'stress test' the MPB's, throw some Warp stabilizer on a few clips.
Warp is one of the few effects that runs more on CPU than GPU for the analyzing.

Thank you for this. I was about to buy a Mac Studio M2 Max to upgrade from my i7 2010 IMac. Kinda wanna see the binned M3 maxes performance. If those still keep getting upgrades from M4 and onwards, I might just upgrade my M1 Max to those because those are technically upgrades but at a “cheaper” price. That, and I wanna see how OLED will do in gaming on a MacBook Pro. Pro-motion ghosting and smearing is noticeable on an LCD/mini-led
