i am n the us & starting to build my station From scratch & i just got my 6btv together & put up the day b 4 yesterday So i am still in the tuning phase and i do not have the hinge base plate or the radial plate But we all gotta start some where as thy say . the assembly wasn't bad But the tuning is a Time consuming process/a bit of a bear imho ! I will get it where it needs to be for me (Voice) I just half to take my time n be patient n make sure its done right ! I may add Radials n the spring after ive had time to play this fall & Winter ..I already saw Huge Improvement over my old ant i was using for 10,12,15M & RX Only on the Rest like 15-20db Better so yea i am very happy so far !
Interesting as I use the same radio and also have an end feed with a coil for 80m the wire is total 23m long. I also use a 5BTV with radials although I need to put a few more out still. I lay the coax on the ground. I find very little difference between the two antennas however it does change from day to day depending on conditions so nice to be able to switch . As for cost and effort in putting up the end feed is easier and cheaper. All saying that I don’t regret buying the 5BTV as it gives me flexibility.
Hi Ally ! So glad the *BTV antenna is doing you good service. Indeed, the length to the feed point, I think the tunneling isnt really required, but it does help with the gardening and the coax not getting hit ! I really love my 6BTV - it really is a bullet proof vertical antenna and if I was limited on space, be the antenna of choice, the engineer and documentation are just sublime. Thanks again for your comments, its great to get feedback on these videos as I'm by no means a professional youtube, I just love Amateur radio and sharing what I'm doing. 73 2E0FWE
