I auto decline offers that are 50% less then asking price/market value. You would be surprised how ridiculously low offers some people will make. Those people are 99.9% not going to give you market price and are in their own fantasy land. They will counter another 5.00 maybe, really not worth my time. If the item has not sold under x amount in 12 months why would I sell it to you for 50% off what it goes for.
It's some good advice. Definitely time listed and cost of goods sold are large factors with offers. There comes a point where if doesn't sell, you could be using that money on items that do. Counter offers can be tricky, some people simply want to win and that is all lol. We all seen people bid up a auction and never pay for it for instance. Nice video.
@@rahmatullahpatel1670 it was too keep items longer than you should based on a preferred margin. Sometimes the opportunity cost is higher not selling and stopping the cash flow that would come from other items rather keeping that item longer.
Perhaps some eBay shoppers have a golden rule of never offering more than 50% of the asking price. Especially if they are resellers, they might look at an eBay store with hundreds of items as sort of a garage sale.

I totally agree that buyers want to “win” however, I find that most buyers making lowball offers do not want to pay a realistic price for my item and I decline their offer. If they are truly interested in the item they will offer again at a higher price. If that happens, I will counter at a price slightly above my lowest and best offer or send our lowest and best offer with a note stating that. This is my most successful tactic.
That's a good strategy. I think some buyers who do the low ball offer think like this, if I never ask, I'll never get an answer, so they lowball as an ask, hoping to negotiate.
I always list my items above a realistic price to drive a perceived value on the item up. It helps if your items are rare on ebay. The buyers always have in mind what they can re-list the item for and you can in turn give them idea's
I price my items very competitively and normally did not have the Allow Offers on. I've recently started allowing offers and the number of low ball offers is staggering. I respond with this: "Thank you for your offer on the xxxxxxx. Due to fees and costs, I can't accept your price. How about 15% off? " It is working about 1/3 of the time so far.
I get lowball offers I counter with 1 dollar off This is for very lowball offer basically they want it for free Then if they counter I go up 10 cents and keep doing that til they burn out their offers People see China crap for cheap but don't realize shipping is expensive
@@therefinedreseller275 I build in my shipping on my bin price! I learned years ago free shipping gets more hits, even if the price is higher than your competition.
Lol, that's hilarious. I used to do stuff like that, but now I use minimum offer amounts because I don't feel like dealing with them. Better to only have those who are serious.
As I’m watching this I just got an offer for $11 for a $45 dollar Anthropologie Corduroy cropped jacket. I got the jacket from the Bins last week and it’s practically new. I declined the offer and sent a counter offer for $20. I will wear the jacket before I except $11 for the jacket
Thanks for watching and commenting. I think we'll just have to disagree on this. I always have best offer turned on. That's mostly because I pay very little for what I buy.
Me and my wife do listings a little bit differently. She normally always puts a refuse offer for a real low amount. I always leave it open. I kind of enjoy seeing what people will try to get things for. Kind of helps me judge the market better. Thanks for the great info.
PLUS when someone sends you any offer you can then see what they’re saying about other sellers. & what a person says about someone else says more about them than it does the person their bad mouthing.
What to you do when people charge $60 for a item worth $60.... Then you throw in shipping $25... And tax $7... So now the item is over priced because of the shipping and tax. Is is rude too negotiate thus.. By the way I've bought and sold millions.. But not online.. I had my buddy buy stuff for me and I pay them back.
Better example (in my opinion) of why you shouldn't have 'Auto Decline Offers Lower Than' is when you set it at $50, but someone makes an offer of $49 ... or $49.99. That cuts you out, but you are completely unaware ... an it could have been within a penny of what you would have actually accepted. *I know that is worded poorly, and that you basically said the same thing. Just want to bump up your comment section.
I have increased my average sale on ebay from $30 to $100 in 2 years time. I always take offers with no auto decline. If i'm low balled I just drop my price $5-10 on a counter. I don't care how low the offer is, it always feels like a feeler offer. Many times the buyer will counter much higher. The low offer is interest, and should never ever be ignored. Be polite, don't project a fire sale. I always throw up some small talk to see if the buyer is really paying attention or not.
Amazon goodwill walmart best buy mom and pop stores none has best offer. You want something buy it. No money sit your ass somewhere. No one got time for that mess declining offer ot make counter offer all day. No one can run a real business based off best offer. You will lose money like a magnet.
I bet you yourself low ball people all the time. Thats how you get your stuff so cheap and resell it most likely at a much higher price. More than you know you should, so when you get lowball offers you're still coming out on top.
How do I respond to low ball offers? Simple......
I don't.

I learned a lot from this video! Thank you!
You're welcome.
Great advice. I had seen an offer original was 59.99 and was offered $10.00. They were extremely nice about it. Extremely low ball.

Anytime I buy something at a garage sale, I negotiate. I NEVER pay full price. So, if an ebay item is buy it now or best offer, always make an offer.
