Aaron!!!!! Yes!!!! AND PLAYING ARKHAM!? I'm legit having feelings and emotions right now. Your last (first) play of the Arkham card game is one of my favorite episodes and I rewatch it every few weeks. The banter, the panic, Dave going complete lone wolf! This makes me so damn happy to see Aaron again, the core four reunited and playing one of my favorite games!!! Man, did not expect this 😊
1:48:00 Dave should have drawn a card from his deck since he played Perception and Aaron's investigate test succeeded. I'm still making my way through the video (although I skipped the rules refresher and setup). Will comment more if I see anything missed, but great video. Very entertaining so far. Norman Withers’ ability says you may “play”…not you may “commit”. Play and commit are two distinct things, as Aaron correctly explained elsewhere in the playthrough, but he (and Dave) failed to notice this when Dave committed the top card of his deck to skill checks. It sounds like you are playing with the wrong side of the scenario card. You said you were playing on standard difficulty, yet you keep treating the skull chaos tokens as X is the shelter value but that’s only on the Hard/Insane side of the scenario card. The Easy/Standard has X equal to half the shelter value (rounded up). So Nikki would have past the test on her combat at 2:49:40 2:56:20 it also attacks you if you provoke an attack of opportunity. 3:15:44 How does Lily have a Survivor card (Lucky) in her hand? Her deckbuilding requirements do not allow that, and I’m not aware of anything in the scenario that would do that. 3:21:30 No, you cannot heal allies unless it specifically says so. 3:51:17 resigning does not provoke attacks of opportunity. It’s a good idea to use the player aid card which reminds you of this. 3:51:50 damage on investigators does not carry over to future scenarios. Exception: see trauma. Hope to see you all continue through some other scenarios. Good job with the video playthrough!
7 years ago since the last Arkham Horror LCG?! Wow. Ive watched the 1st one a few times and love it. So great to see this again. Thank you for playing this. ❤
The amount of unguarded joy you all got out of laughing at Nikki's "Artic Wind" helps renew my faith in humanity. What a great group of young at heart chuckleheads you all are. :)
Let me just say that your original video is what helped me when I started playing so thank you for this before I become a "stick in the mud". Things I found while watching. 1:04:21, your Mulligan rules are incorrect. You can choose to declare a mulligan on any number of the drawn cards he or she does not wish to keep in his or her starting hand. These cards are set aside, and an equivalent number of cards are drawn and added to the player's starting hand. 1:04:43, I don't see anywhere in Edge of the Earth where it states you don't start with any resources. Can you confirm where you got that ruling? 1:20:49, During the Mythos Phase, each investigator draws the top card of the encounter deck, resolves any revelation abilities on the card, and follows the instructions below based on the card’s type. So, you're better off drawing an encounter card one at a time and resolving them to prevent any "Surge" shenanigans and getting another player's card. Nevermind, thanks for the video!
1:06:13 Just to add one more, locations are connected by symbols but not in the way Aaron explained where he points to only the bottom of the cards (Though following the book works though). When you want to move, look at the symbols at the bottom of your location card, then compare to the top left symbol of the location card you are going to. So in that case, those locations with orange symbol at the bottom are connected to the location with the orange heart symbol. Edit: It's corrected at a later timing 1:16:50
I have just re binge watched all 12 seasons going backwards to season 1 and finished today and then came back to this beauty! Absolutely fantastic to see the originals together. Please never change. I love this channel and everything you guys do. Really makes me feel like I am playing along with you all the way from Sydney, Australia!
This game has a lot to take in and it is normal to miss some details, but at the end you made things harder for yourselves unnecessarily. Evaded monsters are not considered ready, but exhausted; so you can evade a monster at your location and then investigate the same location or resign without triggering an attack of opportunity. The exhausted enemy becomes ready again at the end of the monster phase. Now don't wait 7 more years to play this game again, please. 😊
AAaron!! Good to see you again! The original squad back! I bought this game because the video you guys did! I play it by myself and sometimes with my sister and it's always fun! Let's see what kind of horror this expansion bring us.
What a wonderful surprise ... loved your previous Arkham Horror vid. Seems like GameNight! has been focusing on 'cutesy' games lately, so this is a welcome change. Thank you so much!
I dig the beard Aaron !! Nice !! And Niki looks cool with long hair. I loive all your videos, but i like more the videos with you 4. You are like my boardgaming Justice League and you 4 are the founding members. Keep on the good work and quality vidios.
To add to the discussion at the end, in case some viewers are new and are concerned about the fixed roles that investigators have, they actually don't have to be too fixed. Almost every investigator can have a "flex" deck instead. And yeah, the location connections are annoying... I recommend using toothpicks or buying path markers from 3rd party places.
An amazing game. You guys did so well considering that the scenario reference card was on hard/expert in stead of easy/standard. You should of passed most of the 💀 checks!
I love Arkham Horror LCG so much. It;s always a hit here at our table and frequently makes us laugh at the situations harder than so many other games because of the absurdity. Happy you all dove back in. Sadly I’m gunna have to wait to watch this one because I haven’t played this yet. But keep crushing it BGG content and Game Night crew.
Feels like it's been far too long since we've seem Arkham. OLD SCHOOL CREW! Also, we bought the Gamegenic investigator boxes because of you guys ---- they ARE really good.
What's this? A wild Aaron spotted by his natural habitat of Arkham? It has been so long some researchers thought it extinct! (Also, I'm pretty sure resources are just part of normal setup. Are you play super-duper-extra-hard-mode on standard?) Seriously, though, welcome back! It's great seeing the original line-up again. Funnily enough, we had Kensler die when we played, so the expedition leader paid for her unwillingness to listen VERY quickly... Do you guys think you'll ever try the OG co-op LCG LotR one? It lands itself better to non-campaign due to original design, plus I just think you might find it fun. Regardless, I love watching your videos every week. Hurrah for a new season! WAIT! Why does Lily have Seeker cards? I'm a bit confused...
Not sure how much you guys play through an Arkham Horror campaign, but I'm surprised you don't have the much needed "arrows" to show direction among locations in play. Just surprised since you have other upgrades for the investigators.
1:26:07 Lily actually can't take Old Book of Lore. On her deck building options on the back, she's Mystic 0, Guardian 1-5, up to 5 Guardian 0, Neutral 0-5.
Did Nicky understand her cards (and some parts of the game)? ;-) By the end of the game, she could have killed 4 enemies with one dynamite!!! She had two dogs to take the attacks of opportunity. All investigators had enough health left and/or allies to take the 3 damage. THEN, the group would have had 11(!!!) actions left to get the 2 left clues and resign.
I think what they (not just Nikki) misunderstood is that they thought damage and horror on investigator cards persists into the next scenario. They were also playing Standard difficulty with the Hard/Expert scenario card (!) so they failed a lot of (skull) skill checks and overcommitted on tests where they were afraid of the skulls. Skulls should have been only -3 on the location they spent most of the scenario, not -6.
Take a ressource and draw a card are the worst (basic) actions in that game and you do those far too often instead of doing things to progress the game.
Well, to be fair, Nikki and Dave had basic weaknesses in play for most of the scenario that limited what actions they could do. So much of it was due to them not healing themselves of those weaknesses.
@@pastafarian7779 Well, when four investigators have no chance to heal a single horror during 50% of the time of the scenario, then there is something missing in the deck construction. Furthermore, nobody forced them to be at the same location with all four investigators like a third of the time. With all those treacheries that are being attached to a location, thus they managed to constantly have 1-2 in their way. So they should have split in two groups to get some of the bonus stuff from some of the locations. So no need to stand still and just take ressources and draw cards.
@@andrethannhauser6302 I'm not going to argue that they were using good decks or even using good tactics. I'm just explaining why they were taking a lot of the resource actions. It seemed like their decks were constructed to showcase a lot of the cards in the EotE investigator box. They all had basic weaknesses from that set, but they likely didn't take those into consideration when constructing their deck to be sure to include healing. I think Lincoln healed horror on himself once, and he probably should have healed the weakness off of Dave's investigator so he could do more investigating actions.
At the 1:59:39 mark, Lincoln calls Dave the Last Action hero, in reference to Dave sharing the screenplay credit with Legendary writer and director Shane Black for the 1993 film "Last Action Hero" starring Arnold Schwarzenegger. Dave is my absolute hero. I'd take a 4 point sanity loss for him.
Great run through! I noted two potential errors: Cards that say you can heal or remove horror from investigators only apply to investigators, not their assets - to heal any other card, you need to have text that says you can. Second, XP: Cards are from level 0-5. You were all playing with level 0 cards (no pips). You can add a new level 0 card for 1 xp, but you must adhere to your deck card limits. The cost of a level 1-5 is equal to its level in XP. You can upgrade (some cards have versions at different levels) by paying the difference in levels as a cost, so upgrading a level 2 to a level 4 is 2 XP. Note that it is possible to begin a campaign with XP and thus buy higher level cards, but you have to add more weaknesses. This is a really fun part of the game and creates a lot of strategy. The card pool is now enormous, too.
The 2nd LCG game I really look forward to owning soon (I'm still enjoying the LOTR ones, and quite frankly that one can even last me for a lifetime as there aren still gazillions of campaign expansions out there). Though I understand that this one also have TONS of expansions, maybe I'll just dip my feet at the core set and decide it from there. And then there's Marvel Champions too, yikes 😅. I started understanding Arkham Horror after watching your original play through, have watched it many times , and what helped me was the comments about characters getting beaten up and they will never get out unscathed. Once I understood that I got the game. Thanks
This gameplay was great, very fun, I just want to point two things out. First is about the location connections, you look at the icon on the top left of the location and every location with that same icon on the bottom will be connected to that one, so what is on the bottom indicates which locations that one connects to, what is on the top is the icon that represents each location. That means sometimes you have incomplete connections, where you can go from location X to Y but not from Y to X for example. The second thing is that Lily cannot get Old Book of lore, she cannot have Seeker cards in her deck, she is Guardian 1-5 (with up to 5 LV0 Guardian cards) and Mystic 0. She also can´t have Lucky, that is a Survivor card.
Great game time! so much fun watch it. is there chance play San Juan (Second Edition) card game? Would love see the classic game cover play by your guys!

Why did you not start with 5 resources as per setting up the game section 7. Nowhwere does it tell you not to take your starting resources
Totally agree. This game is hard enough.
Right on! A new comfort watch. :)
Now I feel old. And look like Aaron 😅

Thanks for the coin capsules recommendation 7 years back, I'm still enjoying the game!

Great play through
damn that's a long play
God!! What's up with that auto fail token 😂😂 every time
I always knew Santa was real - Aaron!!
I've no idea what i did to deserve such a treat of a video, but thanks universe for that ^^
great old squad clows 😀
