Quick note: Brainwashing Supers is an option they removed in the release. Apparently it wasn’t intended. - Evil Genius 2 Series with EMMA began today too! Check it out: ruclips.net/video/tluRX_j_EW0/видео.html Special thanks to Rebellion for the early access to Evil Genius 2. Fun game!
It's cool that you're doing an Emma playthrough. I tried all 4 geniuses and decided I was going to stick with Maximillian for my first and then try the Science lady who's name I've forgotten. So an Emma LP for when I need a break will be fun to watch! I'll check it out tomorrow! Cheers!
I dont know if you know this or not, but you can actually start schemes in regions with super agents, just not finish them, so if your heat is getting too high, you can start the heat reduction mission and cancel it at the last second and reduce heat while avoiding supers
I'm still making a lot of rookie mistakes, but I have one piece of advice-build a few valet items right at the entrance to your real lair, so they'll catch agents going in that direction more often than not.
Super Agents will only proc when a scheme is completed too. So if you start a scheme, (like to reduce heat before it goes over) but cancel it 1s before it completes (after you've gained most of the rewards/heat reduction) they'll go back to idle state.
I never noticed that, very interesting. One thing i struggle with super agents is that some of them no not spawn on the side of the island where they enter the casino but come by the chopper/storage area. How do you handle these guys ?
@@rhyzaum Islands 1 and 2 will always have this effect. Super agents and some FOJ will start to come via beach and come up via your helipad by elevator or otherwise. Only thing you can do is plan your base effectively to deal with these.. guests effectively with traps or guard posts. Always building low heat rooms on that side (training, mess hall, barracks etc) is always a good idea too.) Or play my favorite island, number 3 with the helipad in the middle, that forces all visitors through the casino.
@@kklee06 It's funny you mention the first tip because i quite disagreed with it. I think it's very risky to have tons of untrained minions near the entrances because if a fight breaks out with lv6 or 9 agents they are gonna butcher your entire minion force. What i've experimented so far is to have a couple traps and my guard room directly at the exit of the casino and i tag investigators as soon as they land on the island. When they come from the helipad, i stop sending crew on scheme to avoid sending minions to the helipad. I post my champion (i chose the son) near the helipad and when the fight breaks out i make him run to the lair, it seems agents in combat will always chase him and run by every minion that could cross the helipad bridge. If you do have low heat rooms near the casino exit, how do you manage the investigators ? Do you wait before tagging them ? How do you lure them from the barracks and stuff to an area where your guards can fight.
Well, I play as Ivan with about 1/3 of my minions as muscle minions. I typically just have a big armory (with only guard tables and Camera stations, my weapons are in my basement) near the entrances. So I just wait for the enemies to walk in and deal with a couple dozen brutes with guns and big sticks. The armory can also be a low heat room if planned correctly. I wouldn't tag them upon landing because that would would your workers engaging with them. I just auto tag them when they walk into the place outside of my armory
Great video!! I played 5 hours straight... And then Realized... I don't like my villain LOL. Agents also started pouring in a lot, so decided to watch a video on some good tips, and now I know! Thank you.
I was not thinking of getting the game yet, even after checking your current videos with Emma. I was like: Not sure I want that kind of micro management game on the map. Then I check this video, especially the traps sequence and I will probably give it a try. Damn, it's a trap! :)
I started playing this last night on XBOX Game Pass - I had a blast playing for a few hours going through the tutorial. Can't wait to dive in again tonight after work. Thanks for the tips in your video!
I'd add that corpses drain moral quickly. On medium difficulty 5 of the first agents can easily kill 10 of your guards and the mess they leave behind is floor full of body bags. Each of these bags will drain the moral of your minions passing by by a bit and thus it is important to clear these halls pretty quick or you will lose some of your minions as they start to desert. This was (or still is) one of my biggest issues after completing the tutorial. The second one being that I have had the whole world covered with outpost and couldn't send out minions as quickly to missions as new missions popped up. Long story short, I have a constant shortage on minions. My lair could support roughly 130 minions, though my counter never exceeds 70 and as the heat builds up so fast, even without doing missions, I'm constantly under attack. I therefore started to add those monitors to reduce the heat, though I need more, More ... MORE!
3:00 I'm like constantly building new vaults, because no matter how much i spend and build, i keep maxing on money lol. And i just put all schemes globally to the slow heat reduction, that way it will keep heat at 0, while still constantly giving the passive ticking from regions.
This is a starting out/ beginning of game guide. If you’re at the stage of managing heat on global regions, you’re beyond the stage this top was meant for
on lunch break watching this video and got to tip 2 and i didnt know you could put rooms into other rooms. going to spend the rest of my workshift in my own head thinking of crazy combo rooms thank you so much hope there will me more great vids oin the future.. instant sub
Thanks, this has been really helpful! I've been really enjoying the game so far but it definitely has a problem with not explaining things correctly. This game's in dire need of some tooltips/a glossary.
Glad it helped! Would you believe that the die-hard fans of Evil Genius are happy there isn't a glossary or tooltips? It's like, they enjoy a strategy game leaving out sometimes critical strategic information. This is probably part of it. - I agree, a strategy game that doesn't give the player strategic information is lacking - but ya know what they say, a poor craftsman blames his tools... assuming he was given any. :)
Bonus tip: break rooms with lots of different equipment into sections for each type of thing, especially for rooms labs since they are used by a lot of different kinds of minions
I'm well through a Red Ivan playthrough but I plan on restarting from scratch as I feel I made one too many mistakes along the way and it's gotten a bit too chaotic to fix without dumping hours into it. But before I do, I want to ask some advice on what I should do instead of what I did in my current playthrough, hopefully from Charlie himself. 1: I don't exactly see this as a mistake, but after unlocking the stairs, I basically devoted the entire first floor to legal rooms while making the basement exclusively for generators & the vault, each taking up half of the basement space with a corridor hallway in between. On retrospect, after unlocking the megasafe, I should have reduced the vault space and add more generator space. 2: I tried to go for a relatively even number of specialized minions, basically 20 or so for everything except Technicians which I have 30 of to keep like a hundred different pieces of equipment in tip top condition. 3: I waited until unlocking all of the minion types before starting on completing the side missions, something I already learned is required due to reaching the end of a Max playthrough and having not dealt with any of the super agents only for ALL of them to show up at my front door at the same time 4: I have a habit of spending a ton of resources on the world stage for schemes & building networks at the same time, leading to my base being pretty baren and new minions taking quite a while to train up. 5: I built up a TON of items that raise minion stats over 50, hoping that more of these items would mean that more minions would use them more often, all it really seems to do though is force science & deception minions to operate items that nobody's using to restore their stats. Got any advice on how many of these items are necessary to maintain both minions' stats & their productivity? 6: I never actually built many traps to deal with Investigators or other enemies, mostly relying on the cover operation and certain henchman abilities to wear down the resolve & skill of agents and then muscle minions to capture or kill them if they get past the casino. But I think the biggest reason why I don't bother with traps is because they end up damaging minions as well, and I try to avoid that to maintain manpower. Should I just stop caring if minions die as well as Agents or am I basically fine on this one? 7: Finally, I believe I chose the wrong lair when I picked Caine Key, which I had chosen because it not only the helicopter pad is in the center of the island, but all F.O.J. enemies have to come in through the cover operation. But I feel that maybe these pros aren't actually worth the cons, with it probably having the least amount of buildable space out of all the lairs. EDIT: There's one other mistake I forgot to add that's more specific to Red Ivan's story. Using H.A.V.O.C. starts fires in the lair, so I tried to build a *LOT* of fire extinguishers throughout the lair to keep the fires under control, but it seemed that too many extinguishers messes with the minions' A.I., sometimes sending them down stairs to grab extinguishers on a completely different floor, meanwhile my generators are burning down in a wildfire. I plan on making sure the extinguishers aren't built too close to the stairs to mess with the A.I., but should I also limit how many extinguishers I have built in the lair itself?
I really love this game despite flaws... it ticks that old school Bond/Austin Power villain fantasy. Oh I also found it worthwhile to not overexpanding on the world map, its better to have fewer territories and focus on them than having many that ends up in lockdowns eventually. And its also a good idea to tear down them if you need to change position. It costs a bit manpower but It drags less attention and attacks, and it helps to be able to constantly manage them. I found that having to many nets many idle for periods anyway since you often have things to micro everywhere. Untill the times come when you invest research into the purple tech and gain buffs and slow down heat buildup and such. Thats a tip if you feel you get to much attacks and attention scale the presence on the world map down and micro fewer regions.
Many video i found say, Take the short Schemes for quick money, But after i see some of you walkthrough. I try mix it up, As only quick Schemes run me out of Minions so damn fast. So i try at the beginning to do 1 X short Scheme, 1 Long Scheme, If i have the spare money after that i pay for reduce heat, If not. I let it go to lockdown for 3 minute ingame, Go so damn fast anyway. When i was better on money i change to 2 X long Schemes, And yes at the end of #2 it go onto lockdown. (some times i stop it and use the money to reduce heat) But i got max money out of it.(I think) This way i only use 6 Minions before lockdown, So i need to keep build lockers, As my Minions go up so fast. And the money keep come in. I only choose one area to focus on in the beginning, What every area that have Muscle (first one i wanted). Was the area i Scout first, That way I only get agent for 1 AI, Was pretty easy to fight back. After upgrade 2 place to level 2 Criminal network, The money come faster then i can use it right now :-) I run out of room, So waiting to Research Stairs, Only have 1 Impact Analyser so take some time, Learn to build more then 1 for next time. Well it work for me to now, And first time i can keep go on, As before i run out of Minions and simple give up :-) Thanks kindly.
I also use the lockers to build a maze. you have to have them anyway so after the end of my corridor-O-death I have a huge bunk room filled with lockers that form a long twisty maze.
Very nice video! Just a note on the Super Agents: you can do the slow 20 min heat reducing schemes with minions (not the ones with cash/intel) although sometimes the super agents can generate more heat than you can reduce if you have more than one network within his FoJ they may switch to another network where you are not running any schemes (and at worse they will only lockdown the region instead of coming to your base)
What made EG 1 a cult game, the insane laughs we got from the traps. Your sequence here is a masterpiece mate !! I started in sandbox for EG 2, to get the feel, and also to laugh my ar*e off, but in campaign mode, how de we unlock the casino objects? At least to get the slot machines at first, to reduce the skills of the agents. Cheers!
I think entrance>traps>security room is best, it ensures soldiers are lowest hp & meet the toughest minions everytime, with your setup they will just run in and kill a bunch of weaker minions. Just because the barracks isn't illegal doesn't mean there's any good reason it should be near the entrance also things that aren't suspicious can still be sabotaged, blown up, catch fire, etc.
As stated, this is a guide for the start. This is not a guide for middle/late game when stronger enemies are a problem. Agents of Average or worse will not resist being distracted by minions.
I suggest to focusing on broadcast range and network research as criminal networks generate passive income by themselves and the more you upgrade the more money they generate when I had 300 minions I could not pay for there salaries so I upgraded all networks to 4 and was easily get 2 mil
I loved the original Evil Genius and bought the new game. I look forward to trying out the new traps in the game. I haven't researched this much so I don't know if this tip is successful in the new game: in the original game, doors took time for agents to open so you would put doors on legal rooms at the front of your base to increase time it took for agents to investigate.
So regarding tip 9, I have noticed that teh supers do *NOT* trigger a visit if the scheme you implement is the long-time heat reducing one. The 3 workers for 20m, or 3 valets for 30m, those ones. The 30s ones you pay for DO trigger the visit though.
This is an early game start tip guide, to get the ball rolling well. It isn’t intended to be a “good to go” for middle and late game, which is when you worry about soldiers. By the time soldiers are coming, you’ll be able to provide guards and merc protection and will have likely restructured your base anyways.
Nice video. However I do want to point out that placing decoration items when playing as Ivan is a terrible idea at least until after you get through the part of the campaign that makes you fire H.A.V.O.C., because all decor items just burn up pretty much instantly which can get a little costly if you've decorated the shit out of your rooms.
i noticed at this part of the video that Zalika is also shooting the super agent. does her weapon reduce skill? I need to confirm this because I have been trying to catch agent x from time to time.
Ok I’m having issues with upgrading my Criminal Network. The issue is I’ve been at it for a while with the upgrade selected and the minions sent but it doesn’t seem like it’s progressing at all.
Just got this game finally on sale on steam. I am running into an issue, I am doing the tutorial and I built my power room but I can't build enough power to do the tutorial stuff. The game would not allow me to build a bigger power room and there is still space for more generators but it won't let me build more then 2 but the turotial has me build more drain on my power then I can generate.
A note that they have in fact rebalanced the schemes to any who see this: They now use much longer schemes that give you passive income, and instead have to decide mostly what kind of minions you're willing to send out at any given time.
Hello, I quite disagree with you on #1 Having tons of standard minions close to the casino entrance makes it quite easy for higher level agents, later in the game, to slaughter 30+ minions How do you prevent this from happening ?
Restructure your base. This guide is for early game. To give people a great start. It’s not intended to be something carrying you to mid-late game when stronger enemies are a problem.
im very confused about the crim lords around the world.. why would i invite them to my lair to investigate? ends up killing helf of my guards.. what is the point in doing that
Does anyone have a recommendation to the amount of each minion type to have, I just have it set to 20 for all of them, but I am sure there’s a much better system than that
I've played for a bit on one world but still cant capture the super agents what am I missing :-) I've enjoyed this game but want the Bond moment of putting agents on a laser table :-) great vid some helpful points :-)
Interrogating supers was removed from the game before release. This video was recorded in pre-release. You should see that noted in the pinned comment.
Charlie I thoroughly enjoyed that - now in to world domination! Question 🙋♂️ how do i turn on red alert? I’ve discovered zoning while Jubei was attacking me and now my minions and henchmen are caught between casino and lair door fighting jubei relentlessly. But how do I beat him? How do I play this song I need to play or what do I do to defeat the chap? Tell me Charlie - please!! 🙏
I am playing on the easiest level to get a grip on this game, but although I did as suggested here the agents always end up going into my lair despite me spending time and money on the casino. I watch them go from bar, to stage to bacarra table and then they always, always, end up going to the door to the base. The door itself takes them no time to get through, neither the casino door nor the heavy duty one I place on the other side if it. Valets do nothing and I always end up in a fight :(
Remember kids, they can only disbale your traps if they have line of sight before they go off. Unless murphy's law. So make the first behind a wall and make sure it's a push or a pull so that they can make the better traps have their fun too. Worst case scenario, the game hates you and they get disabled anyways and slow down the FOJ a little bit for the guards to come in.
@@CharliePryor Well that's poo then. How the heck are you supposed to hit them with a trap if they can disable it when it's supposed to be going off in their face?
@@stephenmemelord2303 reduce their skill before they get to the trap. Their skill level is associated with their ability to see and deactivate them. The higher tier the trap, the more skill needed.
That’s what your cover op is for. That’s where you lower skills. Slot machines are very effective, but really so are deception people, higher rank the better.
im keep getting massage every 5 sec which freak me out so annoying.. "something is wrong with the minions or with the training room" I rebuild the training room and still getting this msg none stop any idea?
Ignore it. Providing you've got technicians, it's likely because you have no available minions to complete training. Either purchased some or wait for them.
It's funny... the ONE Super Agent I have "problems" with is Agent X. And only Agent X... Why? Because I have to search for him and his guys. I can handle all other Supers with no problem at all. Charging me head on? Bring it! Stealing from my vault? Let's dance! But Agent X appears ... somewhere and I keep pausing the game for 10 minutes (!!!) because I can't find the sucker. XD I HATE him so much, you have no idea! And he looks like the most manageable of all Supers, because he is just an Investigator-Class-Agent...
@@CharliePryor Perfect example of how looks can decieve... Of all the Super Agents, the run of the mill Fedora guy is the hardest to handle. Just because he appears in a random room. I died to this guy once... I was fighting a wave of enemies with the help of my Genius... He got injured and I sent him back to his Sanctum. And then Agent X appeared AND managed to find his way into the Sanctum. All my guys were on their way to the casino and well... It was a close battle, but he won. I always put the Sanctum behind a guard room with both types of doors and advanced Guard-posts... Never again Agent X! NEVER AGAIN!
If you are talking about symmetra, you need to not do any crimes in the territory she's active in. Failing that, make sure you have a guard center near by with staffed tables. You don't want your minions trickling in and dying one by one. If you need, wait for them to be in a high traffic area. Like I said, first step is not pissing her off.
Jesus I tried to start without the tutorial on hard mode, bad idea. Not worth it XD seems like you need the tutorial to have anychance of building up before enemies come. Without the tutorial you just have to murder a lot of agents for a while till your cover op is up.

4: I have a habit of spending a ton of resources on the world stage for schemes & building networks at the same time, leading to my base being pretty baren and new minions taking quite a while to train up.

(some times i stop it and use the money to reduce heat)
But i got max money out of it.(I think)
This way i only use 6 Minions before lockdown, So i need to keep build lockers, As my Minions go up so fast.
And the money keep come in.
I only choose one area to focus on in the beginning, What every area that have Muscle (first one i wanted).
Was the area i Scout first, That way I only get agent for 1 AI, Was pretty easy to fight back.
After upgrade 2 place to level 2 Criminal network, The money come faster then i can use it right now :-)
I run out of room, So waiting to Research Stairs, Only have 1 Impact Analyser so take some time, Learn to build more then 1 for next time.
Well it work for me to now, And first time i can keep go on, As before i run out of Minions and simple give up :-)
Thanks kindly.
I also use the lockers to build a maze. you have to have them anyway so after the end of my corridor-O-death I have a huge bunk room filled with lockers that form a long twisty maze.
Thats a great guide, thx man!
Super helpful thank you!
Cheers!
Slots are late-game items.
@@CharliePryor Aye, makes sense, an un-staffed item is actually more precious. Thx mate.
just commenting to give you taht sweet YT algorithm
Thank you!
Very cool - handy stuff - thanks!
What you can hire workers for cash?? Did the tutorial miss that cause I had no clue lol
Yep! It's a great money sink when you're Gold Storage is full. The tutorial doesn't cover it though, just one of those things.
Looks like a fun game. Thanks for the tips.
My opinion, but Emma is the best genius character wise. They really did a good job on her personality.
tip 2 with the food and barracks blew my mind
I think entrance>traps>security room is best, it ensures soldiers are lowest hp & meet the toughest minions everytime, with your setup they will just run in and kill a bunch of weaker minions. Just because the barracks isn't illegal doesn't mean there's any good reason it should be near the entrance also things that aren't suspicious can still be sabotaged, blown up, catch fire, etc.
As stated, this is a guide for the start. This is not a guide for middle/late game when stronger enemies are a problem. Agents of Average or worse will not resist being distracted by minions.
Nice tips. My only gripe with this game is the grind with the world map and quests.
Great Video!
Glad you enjoyed it
Thanks for the video, this was great. It made me realize how badly my trap game had been lacking.
They still slow them, this tip still works. Of course, if they aren't tagged and a minion walks in, they will get in for free just like the first one
So regarding tip 9, I have noticed that teh supers do *NOT* trigger a visit if the scheme you implement is the long-time heat reducing one.
The 3 workers for 20m, or 3 valets for 30m, those ones.
The 30s ones you pay for DO trigger the visit though.
Tutorial became too restrictive after the first few hours. Thanks for the info. I'm more than excited to play sandbox now!
That’s the goal! Have fun!
👿 This vid just made me buy the game
thx!
I really enjoyed the traps part. xD
Lots of fun!
Thank you !
Great tips, one could almost call them *hot* tips
I was gonna heart it... soo close... sooooo... cllooooooossseeee....
first tip can backfire when soldiers show up and gun down half your barracks.
This is an early game start tip guide, to get the ball rolling well. It isn’t intended to be a “good to go” for middle and late game, which is when you worry about soldiers. By the time soldiers are coming, you’ll be able to provide guards and merc protection and will have likely restructured your base anyways.
Very reasonable. I just want people to avoid my mistakes.
That trap combo was on some Home Alone scheme 😂
OMG ... evil Genious 2 ... xD ... like a long forgotten dream come true :D
Hey Charlie! I just wanted to say I love your series on this game from one creator to another how are you liking this game?
This game just launched on xbox, and it's a day 1 gamepass release, which is why I'm here lol. This videos gonna get a lot more traffic hopefully.
Welcome in! :)
Awesome!!!
Nice video. However I do want to point out that placing decoration items when playing as Ivan is a terrible idea at least until after you get through the part of the campaign that makes you fire H.A.V.O.C., because all decor items just burn up pretty much instantly which can get a little costly if you've decorated the shit out of your rooms.
lol the pinball trap.
i wonder if its possible to have a setup that sends the agents bouncing in an endless loop with the pinball traps
i noticed at this part of the video that Zalika is also shooting the super agent. does her weapon reduce skill? I need to confirm this because I have been trying to catch agent x from time to time.
Ok I’m having issues with upgrading my Criminal Network. The issue is I’ve been at it for a while with the upgrade selected and the minions sent but it doesn’t seem like it’s progressing at all.
I dont play the game, but this video helped me to decide to buy it :P
Just got this game finally on sale on steam. I am running into an issue, I am doing the tutorial and I built my power room but I can't build enough power to do the tutorial stuff. The game would not allow me to build a bigger power room and there is still space for more generators but it won't let me build more then 2 but the turotial has me build more drain on my power then I can generate.
A note that they have in fact rebalanced the schemes to any who see this: They now use much longer schemes that give you passive income, and instead have to decide mostly what kind of minions you're willing to send out at any given time.
Hello,
I quite disagree with you on #1
Having tons of standard minions close to the casino entrance makes it quite easy for higher level agents, later in the game, to slaughter 30+ minions
How do you prevent this from happening ?
Restructure your base. This guide is for early game. To give people a great start. It’s not intended to be something carrying you to mid-late game when stronger enemies are a problem.
@@CharliePryor Ok thanks for the answer and the great video :)
When I first started I put my interigation room right at the entrance
im very confused about the crim lords around the world.. why would i invite them to my lair to investigate? ends up killing helf of my guards.. what is the point in doing that
If you mean super agents they dissapair for som time after killing them. You cant invite crime lords.
Does anyone have a recommendation to the amount of each minion type to have, I just have it set to 20 for all of them, but I am sure there’s a much better system than that
game is on xbox gamepass, and gosh is this game addicting!
Chairs?! For minions on a break?! What kind of Lair do you run?
I put chairs down but everyone’s so busy they’ve not got any time to sit down 😄
I've played for a bit on one world but still cant capture the super agents what am I missing :-) I've enjoyed this game but want the Bond moment of putting agents on a laser table :-) great vid some helpful points :-)
It's just that huge orange button in the lower right corner of the screen.
Episode 23 of the playthrough: ruclips.net/video/Jj2DxTlkWUU/видео.html
Great presence buddy
Is there a list of which rooms are legal and don't raise suspicion?
No early vault is a great tip
Thanks! :)
Wow everyone start playing Evil Genius😈🔥🔥🔥
Agents will disable traps when they are in the range of the trap. Line of sight is a given on all traps.
@@CharliePryor Any good items to do that? If it helps, i'm in the donut.
That’s what your cover op is for. That’s where you lower skills. Slot machines are very effective, but really so are deception people, higher rank the better.
im keep getting massage every 5 sec which freak me out so annoying.. "something is wrong with the minions or with the training room"
I rebuild the training room and still getting this msg none stop any idea?
Ignore it. Providing you've got technicians, it's likely because you have no available minions to complete training. Either purchased some or wait for them.
Pryor genius too
It's funny... the ONE Super Agent I have "problems" with is Agent X.
I thought he was the easiest as well..... this series (later on, spoiler) changed my mind. :)
How do I stop rogues :(. I have a whole group of them just running rampant in my base killing everyone.
The ice blocks full of agents make great weird food for the sharks...just for fun. What else is a game like this for?
I tried it but it didn't work is it out now?
I tried is evil genius 1 and it didn't work
Is this game hard?
If you love torturing the agents to death, Advice #4 doesn't look all that useful. Lol.
Jesus I tried to start without the tutorial on hard mode, bad idea. Not worth it XD seems like you need the tutorial to have anychance of building up before enemies come. Without the tutorial you just have to murder a lot of agents for a while till your cover op is up.
Yeah the controls were so bad I never bothered with this game
Decore = Day-core
This may come a shock to you, but they say words differently in different places of the world than you reside.
This was definitely written and then professionally narrated by someone else it reads like text not natural speech
Nope. I wrote it myself, and had no guidance from anyone at all.
Some great tips, thanks 👌😉
Happy to help!
