Your work is so beautiful, I'm shedding tears here. 😢 Absolutely gorgeous! What patience. What a fine eye. What great hand eye coordination. Lovely, lovely work! Oh, to own a string of them to hang on my window! Such beauty! 💐🙏🏽💞🥰
Try using thick foam…like upholstery foam…to help puff out your hearts. Lay the textured clay face down and press downward into the foam as you stretch the clay into the rounded shape. The foam will not distort the texture so you don’t have to be so careful to protect the surface as you create the puffy profile. Your hearts are gorgeous, by the way.
Would it be possible to make these using paper clay? I suppose the two sides would warp if left to dry separately but perhaps if once shaped, attach the two sides with slip? These are beautiful. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👏👏👏
Thanks! They are the same size as the cookie cutter, maybe abt 5-6 cm high. I bought them at a Homesense years ago and haven't seen them anywhere since. I would also love to know where I could buy or order more as they wear out fast with this use.
The hearts look like they have a sheen, so I am assuming that you have glazed them. How do you put the hearts in the kiln so that the glaze doesn’t stick?
Asíque no sé qué tipo de masa has usado???
Best is to cut when the clay is slightly stiffer, also makes it easier to form. But, you could also use a little bit of cornstarch or cooking oil on the cookie cutter. I try to get away with not using anything, doesn't always work :-)
I wish I knew where to get more of them as they can only be used a few times before they break. I found them a few years ago at a Homesense (Canada) , must have been around Christmas time. But nowadays you can find many lasercut thin wood ornaments at the Dollar stores or Michaels all trough the year.
I think you can do this with any clay, just try a few times if it doesn't work right away. Since it is purely decorative there is no need for it to be ceramic. Good luck!
To prevent explosions, I make sure I put a hole somewhere in the back before I put it to dry and than let it dry slowly (covered) and long (2 weeks or so depending on air humidity). Sometimes I still lose 1 or 2 when I forget the hole :-). It dries better with the hole and also keeps it from bursting at the seams when it shrinks during drying.
She didn't want sound. It's stated "no sound" below the video. That's why she used closed caption on the screen. My guess is she needs to concentrate on the clay and talking would distract her.
@@claykta I liked it fine without sound and just using the close caption. It's pretty much self explainitery. It was relaxing and kept me focused on what you were doing. I'm sure you have a pleasant voice , but some videoers chit chat and yack too much and it's distracting. People can always ask questions in the comers.
@@claykta I love videos with no sound. I really like your hearts. Im s heart person. Also i love that you don't twist and turn your work upside down and then shove it in our faces.. That's so annoying and absurd.
Thank you - these are beautiful. What I like best of this video is that you didn't add unnecessary sounds - thank you for that, too!
Thanks! I never know what music to choose and often find it quite distracting :-)
These are really beautiful! Great tutorial!👏

Thank you so much for sharing your brilliant skills with clay. It has given me some helpful ideas. Those hearts were exquisite.
Thank you for your wonderful presentation.
Omg these are soo cute!! Ty for sharing :)

I have never worked with paper clay but would just try, it should work.

Very pretty! ❤
Thank you! 😊
How fun, these are ao beautiful!
great job done
Can these be made using air dry clay? They are so nice
I have not tried but depending on the plasticity of the clay I'm sure it can be done one way or another :-)
I have paper clay and an embossed rolling pin....thinking of trying!
Thank you for sharing your beautiful ideas!
They are so beautiful, but how can there be glase all over, dont they stick to the kiln ?
I fire them on little stilts!
Beautiful. Did you fire on stilts?
Hi Linda, yes they are fully dipped in clear glaze and fired on small stilts.
Thank you for sharing. Very grateful
Love them. Thank you. ❤❤
Beautiful
Super adorable ❤
Love these. What size laser cut wooden hearts did you use and where did you buy them from?
Thanks! They are the same size as the cookie cutter, maybe abt 5-6 cm high. I bought them at a Homesense years ago and haven't seen them anywhere since. I would also love to know where I could buy or order more as they wear out fast with this use.
Beautiful creations ❤
Thank you so much 😊
Hola maravilloso tu trabajo !!! Usas arcilla con secado al aire? Cuando puedas me contestas... Gracias
really lovely
Nice!!
The hearts look like they have a sheen, so I am assuming that you have glazed them. How do you put the hearts in the kiln so that the glaze doesn’t stick?
Yes, they are indeed clear glazed. I fire them on small stilts, this sometimes gives 3 little marks on the back that need to be grinded off.
Beautiful ❤
Thank you
Maravilloso trabajo !! 🥰

C'est un très joli travail 😊
hello, do you do anything to prevent the clay from sticking to the cutters? These are gorgeous!

I love these. They are beautiful and look like fun to make. Can these be made with air drying clay and not have to use the bisque fire?
Just try! should be fine and probably lighter as well 🙂
Thank you for sharing, hopefully I can make one..
You can do it!
¿Qué material usas?. ¿Arcilla, cerámica en frío o cual?. Hermoso tu trabajo.
This is stoneware clay that needs to be fired in a kiln. I am sure it can be done with other types of clay as well, just try 🙂
Delicadeza que você tem. Parabéns!
Do the hearts have clear glaze front and back?
They do.
They do, they were fired on small stilts
Bellísimos ❤
Beautiful.
Lovely. Is the entire heart dipped on clear glaze?
Yes it is, and fired on stilts
Hoe mooi! Op hoeveel graden stook je ze? 😊
So beautiful 😁
When putting the two pieces together, leave a little hole open and gently blow into it to help puff the heart up, then seal it.
Love these! Where did you get those wood ornaments that you use for texture?
I wish I knew where to get more of them as they can only be used a few times before they break. I found them a few years ago at a Homesense (Canada) , must have been around Christmas time. @@claykta , thank you for the info. I just saw some of your puffed hearts yesterday at the Gardiner museum. They are lovely ❤
Have you thought of using textured rollers? It isn't the same, but they sure have pretty patterns.
They are made of stoneware clay (that needs to be fired in a kiln) but you could try it with another clay.
Beautiful ❤

Do u offer it online for sale? Just loved it
thank you! I don't have any at the moment but will possibly make some again for spring, I would post that on instagram @claykta
Great .. I am not on Insta but I hope I come across ur creation sometime soon.. u are an amazing artist ..GL
omgosh why am I only finding your channel now!?
Hermosos, gracias!!!
My goodness nut this is a brilliant idea
Bellissimi❤
Thank you 😊
Fantastic
Could I make these from air dry clay?
I have never tried it but i don't see why not, just try and see 🙂

Could you use air dry clay maybe
I haven't worked with paper clay yet but I don't see any reason why it wouldn't work, just try :-)
😊😊😊😊
No sound
I know :-) my newer videos have more sound, still figuring out what works best. I don't really like tutorials with a lot of background noise or music.
There is no sound
She didn't want sound. It's stated "no sound" below the video. That's why she used closed caption on the screen. My guess is she needs to concentrate on the clay and talking would distract her.
I didn't really think it was necessary but maybe I should try to add a voice over next time.

roll a LOG...not a coil... a coil is a spiral shape.
welcome to the world of clay 🙂
