That "tuk tuk tour" that was about 19US$ - the price was for you two, or per person? I found it so cheap compared to the "tours" to Siwa I see like a day trip costing 160, 180... How did you get that tour guide with the Tuk Tuk? Recommendation from the hotel were you stayed in Siwa??? Thanks for the help. I am going there in the end of this month.

I’ve been to Egypt at least 10 times (as a backpacker tourist or mostly a diving safari), but I haven’t even heard of this place called Siwa. From Dahab to Hurghada and Alexandria to Aswan I've visited many places but never here. So, I've another reason to go back to Egypt. Thx guys 🤙

This place and Aswan were our favorite spots, well and Luxor for the ancient Egyptian temples and tombs. Definitely come to this spot on your next trip. Really wanted to go to dahab but didn’t have time on this trip, a bit out of the way

@@JumpingPlaces as a diver, my big favorite place is Dahab. Quite different from eg. Hurghada or Sharm. There is no mass tourism. However, it's indeed further away from the highlights than the Pyramids of Giza or the many ancient sights of Luxor on both banks of the Nile. And that's what came to mind ☝️ did you go to the red pyramid or the broken pyramid? I think these are much closer to people than the triple pyramids in Giza.

Your recap at the end of your video with the initial pros and cons of travel in Egypt reminded me exactly of my years spent in the Yucatan. As soon as I got out of the touristic cities, the people were nicer, the scams disappeared, that must be universal with travel. 👍🙋‍♂️

    • @JumpingPlaces

Yeah tourism does eventually lead to that it seems in many places, but here is a whole other level compared to what we saw in the riviera maya, it's basically impossible to go to any tourist place here without many people approaching you. Thats why remote places like elephantine island in aswan and this place were amazing, still kind of untouched

The villages and towns had a rare beauty where the mud structures/architecture seemed to be an important part of the surrounding landscape, as if the buildings had grown out of the earth (I guess they kind of did). Great vlog! Thank you!

You guys do a great job of being laid back and accepting what you get without much complaining. I'm sure you work VERY hard trying to find locations, lodging, travel and also an immense amount of editing to get your footage into videos
I certainly enjoy your videos, just enough information to be able to research myself is something is really interesting and lots of real time information of what it is like to be there. I have a difficult time with over agressive people so Egypt is great though your lens rather than a destination for me. I miss the drone shots but you can't shot if they don't even allow drones in the country.

I just returned from Egypt and must admit the road stop controls are crazy,my Egyptian driver explained that it`s just to see that everyone is ok when entering and leaving a different area, but the stops are so time-consuming. My first stop was when we left Sharm-el-sheikh, and because there were already other people there waiting, it took almost an hour.
I went to Egypt as a solo woman traveler, there was totally no problem, I just put on the right clothes when going out of the hotel, when needed, I just covered my hair and all was ok.
Will I visit Egypt alone as a woman traveling solo? 100% yes, I had no issues whatsoever

What a treat Siwa Oasis was for you all with its salt and fresh water springs to swim in- and all those mazes of mudbrick homes and shops to say nothing of that temple in which you two quite literally walked in the footsteps of Alexander the Great! Supposedly he set out from his newly founded coastal port city of Alexandria across the trackless desert by following birds (who knew where to find dates to munch on and water to gulp) to get there! It seems that everyone respected you in Siwa and let you enjoy their unique home! BTW, it's about 19 meters (or 62 feet) below sea level but thankfully the springs have fed its plants, livestock and people for millenia. Oh, very nice comfortable hotel room you found in that old but well-maintained building and what a bargain! But then it seems the all the prices for food and transport were also very reasonable! Too bad the beach resort wasn't as nice. Oh,well! Glad you got to enjoy Egypt overall (in spite of the annoying portion of folks who haggled) AND THANKS FOR SHARING IT WITH US!

What a fascinating, interesting, and peculiar place. And such deep history too in that part of the world. This is one of the many reasons why I love your YT channel....sometimes you go WAY off the normal path to show places like this.
Regarding the frustrating parts of the Egypt trip... for someone who plans a trip there and that is perhaps their only vacation/trip for a year (or more), yes it might be disappointing in ways with accommodation and services, and hustler hassles. But for the two of you who travel full time you know it's part of the adventure and you will soon be on to another place. Good info so people have a sense of what to expect.
I was glad to see this part of the world through your video documentary. I hope you keep traveling!

I just watched your Egypt series and it brought back some wonderful memories of my trip there last month. I loved visiting the tempels and piramides and the incredible boat rides on the Nile. To bad you didn’t get to visit the Egyptian museum in Caïro. I also did a 4 day Nile cruise, not on a cruise ship but on a Dahabiya. It was amazing! The views where stunning and it was so relaxing! I truly enjoy our boat trip in Aswan to the Nubian village. It was really beautiful. We had dinner with a Nubian family, with was so great and the food was delicious! As everywhere we ate in Egypt. We also did a balloon ride in Luxor at sunrise and it lasted for 45min and costed 65€. It was an incredible experience! Really worth it.
The only negative things I found where the treatment of the carriage horses which were used for tourists! Horrible. We also normally had a carriage ride to Edfu, but our guide already knew in advance we wouldn’t want that so he rented a minivan instead, because he also didn’t like how badly the horses were treated… What also surprised me (not in a good way) was all the trash and dumping ground on the riverbanks of the Nile… as for the vendors/hustlers I think you have to cope with them if you go to an Arabic country… I always forget about them, as for the ‘call to prayer’ five times a day until I’m there… but for the rest the Egyptian people are super friendly and nice.
The night train from Aswan to Giza I found the least enjoyable part, the food we had looked better than yours I must say… we had the same room as you did, but people in our wagon were smoking and everything smelled of cigarets…
    Thanks for sharing these videos!

Also right at the end Carol I really appreciated your view as a female traveler… I was already wondering if a good amount of female comments were also due to how much flesh was shown as I do understand that you should wear what you like but also taking into account the local custom and if they are not used to to see so much skin you may attract the wrong kind of attention and it’s also good manners to be respectful towards local customs and belief! Educate yourself a little before going places it will help you to make the most of your travel experiences!

I would like to make a remark in regards to your remark about the streets in the village close to the pyramids being unkempt.
The Egyptian government wants all people removed from the houses around the pyramids.
The reason is that there is proof that are lots of ancient treasures underneath these unkempt roads and houses.
That's why the government does not clean - they want everybody to leave so that the work can commence.
the Government wants to clear this area of houses and people and start excavating. It is said that many people dig up
treasures from underneath their houses. Their houses don't have cement floors. Only clay and sand.
The same goes on around Luxor. People there dig under their houses and often uncover treasures like little, ancient figures.

This is such a wonderful find. Goes to show how a bit of research before embarking on these travels is worth while. Shame about the last place. They could have dropped the price and move you to a more quieter spot if poss. So glad you had such a great time in Egypt despite the negatives. Hopefully this video will be of good imfo for future travellers to Egypt. Thanks for shareing. ✌

Interesting look at Egypt in this series.Ancient ruins.Loved hearing call to prayer echoing. Haunting. Wouldn't spend time in Cairo or Giza.Crazy. When I see all the tourists, vast amounts of money tourism brings to the country, it's hard to know a third of people live in poverty. So much govt corruption. If people had access to education and opps.,they wouldn't need to hustle tourists all the time.Of course, this is true in other third world countries but it's so stark there. Thanks for taking me along with you!

I was in a shop in Egypt and there was a(maybe 10-12-year-old)sales boy, I asked him why he was not in school, said to him, with the education you have more chances in the future. The boss/brother or whoever told me "no he gets the best education here interacting with people, learning different languages, and learning how to be a businessman.
But I thought, who says he wants to be a businessman in the future.

The trip to Siwa is quite famous among youth and as you can see it is not family friendly due to the long distance. But sadly (or luckily), it is never marketed to foreign tourism.
Regarding the salt lakes you always have to be careful because if you get cut by a sharp piece of salt it will hurt quite a lot because of the salt.
I really like how you take decisions to visit unknown places :) Marsa Matruh is more of a local summer destination for Egyptian middle class and lower middle class. The more fashionable (and much more expensive) destination is the North Coast resorts, but most of those are private chalets/villas with only 1 or 2 hotels.
