Can you add a link to your glasses? they are awesome
Thanks Lisa for teaching us a master design class with each show!
I like to put little bag hooks on the door or wall. I think that they make a difference , because then people always have a place to hang their purse 👜. Super cute and functional for a powder room.
Putting a purse on the counter is not the most sanitary thing to do, what a neat solution to this Alex!! 🙌🏼 PLUS, you can go bananas with the hook design!!! 🤩💛
What a great idea!!!
I like your glasses. Where did you get them?
I always wonder why some public restrooms do not have hooks in the stalls.
@@adc9270 we have hooks in our public restroom stalls here. For purses and/or jackets.
Great tips. I like to have a medicine cabinet with basics, like Tylenol, bandaids/Neosporin, Tampax, etc. for my guests, so they don’t have to be embarrassed by asking for these things. I also have paper towels, in nice metal holders, liquid soap pumps (not soap bars), and visible extra toilet paper in every bathroom. A good lock for the door is important, too, guests shouldn’t have to worry about someone walking in on them!
Thanks for sharing!!
My DIL and son have the most fabulous powder room sink. It’s just a flat slab of polished stone, and the faucet and handles are mounted onto the wall mirror.
So many friends come over and ask when the sink will be installed, not realizing that IS the sink. It drains into the back of the wall. It’s so cool and a great conversation piece! Their house was built in the early 1800s, but she has managed to mix modern into their home without taking away from the original character of their home. The doors and 6 fireplace surrounds are all original, there is also a new addition that blends seamlessly with the original home. Their architect did an amazing job!
Thank you for suggesting disposable towels in a tray.
It really IS so gross to touch a damp hand towel.
OMG!!!! This just goes to show how creative you can get with such a tiny space!! 🙌🏼 I LOVE how they could still show the character of their home while making it their own style!! 🤩🤩
@@LisaHoltDesign - My DIL has excellent taste! I am always amazed by that young woman. My son is a lucky man to have found a gem like her. ♥️
I'd love to see a video about teeny tiny powder rooms and how to beat address space issues while still having some decor.
i don't care about design.................i lave your energy and your voice...........love from Greece!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I LOVE that this channel not only helps people in design, BUT can help brighten someone's day!!! 🥰💙 Thank you sooo much for leaving this sweet comment!!! Sending love to Greece!!! 😘✨🇬🇷 💙💙💙💙
The powder room can be such a style splurge because no one spends any significant time in one. It's always a quick visit, so being overcome by anything is either a pleasure or funny. It's so true that the half bathroom can handle wallpaper, whereas the 3/4 or full bathroom cannot due to shower and/or tub moisture. Love the idea of the entire back wall behind the sink being mirrored. This allows people to do some garment adjusting, if need be, too. You are so right about the decor fun, but also the comfort of the guests in using the facilities.
I LOVE hearing your thoughts about this Philippa!!! You're so right, the powder room can be such a splurge and can be SO much to design!! You can go bananas in there!!! 🤪
I love your channel, nobody else talks about basic. Other channels cover living rooms, bedrooms or washrooms but you covered powder room as well. Power room is most visited place by guests and keeping them clean and beautiful is a must. I always try to keep my powder room elegant and clean. Thanks for helping with basic tips. I almost have all but i am going to follow paper napkin tip. I have two hand towels. I know they may not like to use used towels or we will not like to use hand towel that guests used. So it is a pro tip. Love it
YAY! Sooo glad this helped, and yes, I'll keep doing everything for you guys!
I love the Black powder room and the Blue and Zebra powder room... Sweet !
thankyou for mentioning Jonathon Adler as I've seen the items but never knew where to find them... Great!!
I will be putting a decorative tray with paper hand towels in my powder room. Thanks for the happy video today. I love your energy!!!
They now sell paper towels in boxes just like kleenex.
Me too. Good idea 💡
I always had a stack of cloth hand towels and never thought the obvious a small laundry basket needs to be there too. Think I will add the paper hand towels to the mix especially when there is more than one visiter. I also believe people like a soap dispenser over a bar of soap.
Oooh, the perfect spot for those statement wallpapers!
That’s one great tip regarding the disposable towels in the powder room! 🤯🤯🥳
Glad it was helpful!
Lovely suggestions Lisa! 🙌🏻❤️ Getting inspired to do my little powder room after watching this! Thanks so much! 😘❤️🙌🏻
I hate when there isn’t a waste can in the bathroom. Love the idea of napkins in a tray!Thank you Lisa for another fabulous video!🥰❤️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I sooo agree with you Denise!! It's awkward when there's no wastebin!!! 😅 Thank you so much for watching every week! 😘😘
#9 - Quality toilet paper! Blue Charmin is the best imo but there are some close 2nd’s. I hate going over ppl’s houses and they have essentially wax paper or sand paper.
Omg!!!! Thank you!!!! I can’t wait!!!!
I love that you give tips and ideas letting us decide what's best for our space🥰

Perfect timing Lisa, it’s my next room to do by Christmas. But I’m procrastinating because there’s so much pressure to make it right! First impression is everything. Looking forward in all you bring to this tiny but mighty room!
EXACTLY, Marjorie!!! I figured ppl would be thinking about having friends over, and you DEF want to handle this room for when they come, everyone LUVS a pretty powder room! xoxoxL
Once again you answered another hesitation I was having, a big mirror. I wanted to put to use my mirror I had in my master bath before the remodel. Tomorrow I will be calling my installer!
This was such fun to watch 👏👏👏👏👏😁😁😁😁😁😍😍😍😍😍. In my previous house we had a powder room or guest loo as we called it. I had art work in it and a real fun tap and light fixture. I had a basket with face cloths instead of a towel for people to dry their hands and a small woven basket for the used/ wet cloths. I loved all the statement powder rooms you showed 😍😍😍😍😍😍. I removed all the wallpaper from my current home and I think that I am suffering from PTS so I don't think that I would ever wallpaper any room, but a statement jewel colour 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍 yes!

Yayyy Glad it was helpful Gaudy!! 😊 Thank you so much for watching!!! 💖💖
Love the individual hand cloth & pretty tray idea! 👍 Will do that. Never considered how gross it might be for others to touch used hand towels. Even though I feel the same way, lol.
(I do keep a small open basket of discreetly tucked personal care items on a shelf above the toilet for guest emergencies, for young & old. Including wet wipes. There's nothing more embarrassing than leaving home & suddenly being surprised by "biology". And having to ask your host for supplies.)
Elmer, the "biology" surprise solution is a Great idea!! ;):
Those nice heavy duty paper dinner napkins work great too. And you could use the smaller square ones if you are tight on space.
@@adc9270 Yes, the Vanity Fair ones are pretty & substantial enough for drying hands without falling apart :)
I have little clear acrylic jars with lids on them to hold mouthwash and disposable cups, toothpicks, floss, qtips, tampons, liners, alcohol wipes, and perfume samples so people can tiny up
Ooo I LOVE that Pearl!!! I love those little acrylic organizers, you can store SO MUCH in those little things!! 👏🏼
Yes! I am sorry I forgot to subscribe... I was too hook watching at your interesting and fun contents.Love3x
This was great! I hadn't thought about the stack of towels vs single towel. I can't see it working in my space, however, because we just have the single bathroom with tub/shower, elongated toilet, and 24x24 sink with just enough space for the door to swing open 😅. It's hard enough right now to fit a small garbage can plus stool and potty seat for my kids (need to get a fold-up stool...). Our medicine cabinet mirror is falling apart and I would LOVE to replace it with a sink-to-ceiling mirror instead, but need to figure out a better option for storing toiletries. Seeing the fabulous wallpapers is making me reconsider just going with plain white paint, and now I'm pondering some kind of stencil pattern 🤔 using colours that correspond with the tiles on the floor and shower area. So many possibilities!
My powder has no natural light so plants won’t survive in there. When I’m having company, I’ll put an orchid in there and move the plant out when company leaves. But yes, I love plants in the powder room (plus a great smelling candle)
Look into air plants, too. My step-mother had an entire wall covered with marble rubble, and she designed it with some jutting out just enough to fit an air plant on it. It was so lovely. The same thing could be achieved with tiny floating shelves randomly attached to the wall.
I have a bamboo plant in my windowless powder room. It’s doing well. Some plants need very little light.
Why not a good fake?
@@adc9270 I have a few scattered fakes around but only in high up areas. I love a real orchid in a bathroom 🙂
This video was so funny - you made me laugh so hard!
Great video Lisa! In the house we're building the 2nd bathroom is also for guests, so it will have a shower (no tub) and so it's kind of a quasi-public space too because it's the powder room as well. as it is off of the main living space I like the idea of a focal point and what I may do is great that by putting a decorative film on the window which is directly opposite the entry door. This window has the back yard deck right outside it (privacy will matter) and I'm thinking a decorative film (maybe gradient grass pattern in white) will add privacy and a focal point at the same time.
You're absolutely right! I adore the partially a pig films, they look amazing on showers, and give you just the right amount of privacy with style! xoxoxo L
I’m subscribed!!
Great tips! Thanks as always. During COVID, once in-home visits were allowed, we switched to a basket of facecloths (folded in quarters, they fit in a basket that used to hold our napkins). We added a wicker basket--that's obviously not a garbage can--to hold the used cloths. (PS; I'm subscribed!)
Candace, That is all just awesome! Thanks soooo much for being a prt of the the FAM!!!

I'm installing motion sensor lights in my powder room.
I’m in love with my little powder room. The decor when my husband and I bought our home was beyond atrocious!
They had a massive chain attached to 2 very large(18 inches) lanterns. Not the cute lanterns that we decorate with today, I can’t even describe them, honestly. Just huge and ugly. We tore out everything and a got a cute, narrow vanity (not a pedestal sink😖) and a toilet that works better.
I still keep decorating differently, but it’s such a fun little room either way!
I am so glad you mentioned people hates to use that dirty hand towel. I have those disposable linen towels you mentioned. So much better.
Thanks for sharing!!
love your energy & tips Lisa! I'm subscribed. I read your suggestion for a slender shelf if we have a pedestal sink in a narrow space (like mine) hopefully I can find something stylish that fits? Also how to update headboard stylishly (when a spouse isn't the "bold" type :-). thank you!
Hi, it’s Deb in Dallas. You ARE amaz8ng, Lisa!
Hi Deb!!! 👋🏼 SO glad to see you in the comments again, thank you so much for all the kind words!!! 😁💞
I knew a pub in Galway where the owner did 'wash cloths' option... a clever/eco touch for a small town pub in Ireland
I’m in love with that green marlblized wallpaper! Where can I buy it???
Where would I find the bathroom lighting that is mentioned. Thanks! Love these vids!
My powder room is a blank canvas - very light grey walls, a window and a vanity with a black top. Loved your tip about the full wall of mirrors behind the sink. Just wondering if it can go behind the vanity and the toilet? If not, what mirror do I go with to compliment a black vanity top?
I agree with the wet hand towel in a powder room! Yuck and ick! I use white washcloths in my own home (no powder room there, but one of those bathrooms that are ensuite AND common bathroom)!! You are brilliant!! This townhouse was built in 1999 and it's a bit weird here and there. I love the idea of a tray with small towels. So chic. Lisa - hubs and I are probably going to start building our new house in spring 2022 and I love all these powder room ideas!! I'll actually have one!! Excited Lisa-style as you can see! xxoo

@@LisaHoltDesign I am a member and I'm loving everything about it. Looking forward to learning more with the club. 😃
Lisa, I don’t HAVE a powder room!! The builder put in a (small) full bath right off the entry and next to our study. Presumably allowing the study to be used as a bedroom if necessary. I have decorated the bathroom as much as possible like a powder room though: fancy mirror, sconces, wallpaper, etc. What I have done is picked a shower curtain that pulls from the color on the wallpaper and I keep it fully extended so guests don’t actually see the tub area, but it is open above the shower curtain. However I need to make some surface changes like a new tile floor and a larger commode. Can you think of a better solution that could be executed when I have new flooring done? Maybe have the contractor create a partial wall above shower curtain to close off bathtub area more?
Fun😊..I painted clouds on a blue ceiling. And a faux mosaic multi tonal teal wave above the white tile already halfway up the wall. Added a stainless paper towel holder above the sink below the mirror cabinet.
I like the lided waste basket idea
Chris, That is sounding soooo awesome!
@@LisaHoltDesign
❣️Thank you ❣️🌹☺️
I haven't found a good tray yet since the only spot to put them is on my toilet and they can fall off fairly easily. So now I just have one towel but I replace it right before a guest walks in the door so it's fresh and clean for them
Ooh…hope there is wallpaper!
Funny enough I've been daydreaming about design ideas for the "powder room" - what has caused me a bit of pause is that our "powder room" is a full bath on the 1st floor! I guess I can hide the white shower tiles with a curtain that matches the paint wall color?! 🤔
Thanks for the video Lisa!! As always such a joy!
Maybe coordinates instead of matches? My entire bathroom is gray and white. It's a rental, so I can't change the fixtures or paint. However, I found a pretty shower curtain that is soft, warm colors with bits of the same gray scattered throughout the print. It pulls them together and adds warmth. You could do the same thing in reverse by picking out a really beautiful curtain print (something lux that you love) and the taking it to a paint store to color-match to some element of the pattern.
You got that right, Jean, coordinate is the perfect idea!
Thank you both for the suggestions! Taking them into account! :)

WOOHOOO Helen!!!! 🥳 Welcome to the channel, thank you sooo much for joining the community!! 👏🏼🎉💜💜

Some great ideas Lisa! I especially like the washcloth one. So many of these vanities do not have storage. How do you address where to store you’re extra TP, feminine products, etc? My powder room is 48x52”!
Hi Donna, My powder room is about the same size as yours! I have a satin brass washstand, so I have my extra toilet rolls in a satin brass, woven basket on the floor under it. If you want to be discrete, you could use a straw basket with a lid to store the products you mention. You can be sure your guests will find them, if they need them!
Totally, Lois! Yes, Donna, find a way to store a few items in a decorative holder, and you're good to go!
Absolutely love your tips and energy!
Is it okay to pick a different styled sink & cabinet for a powder room from that in the main bathroom, or should there be continuity?
Redoing both and want that fun powder room vibe!
As I understand it, the idea is for the powder room to take the existing style statement of your home to the maximum. It might look incongruous to have a bold, Grandmillennial powder room if the rest of your house is industrial, for example. But the powder room can definitely be a branching point. For example, if you have a minimalist mid-century modern décor in the rest of your house, you could use some poppy orange or rose colours, a high-contrast geometric tile, and some teak … elements appropriate to the style but still make an impact. Or if your home were more traditional, you could do a massive floral wallpaper. Pick up on the style elements you see in your home, identify the style, and then plat into it. It’s still a massive statement, but it mixes well with the rest of your home so it doesn’t look out of place.
@@JonathonV Thanks, I appreciate your insight and agree that the overall ‘style’, be it minimalist or Japandi, that it should be carried through the space. My question was more as to whether you can appropriately use different cabinetry, within the same style group, in different bathrooms, or they should be uniform…I may have not explained that very well the first time!
Haha! What Jonathon said is absolutely correct! xoxo L
Can you put a mirror that is a few inches wider than your pedestal sink? Or will it look disproportionate? Thanks!
