Not really. Bill seems to think all immigrants are illegal. There's such a thing as an immigrant that comes here legally and Republicans don't seem to have an issue with that. They seem to have an issue with illegal aliens, which is something Democrats didn't like either not too long ago. Bill Clinton and Barack Obama both made speeches against illegal immigration.
@showlogicprod Your rant might have some credibility if the First Lady herself wasn't also an immigrant. Doesn't seem like Trump has a problem with immigrants. Also, Obama was the Deporter in Chief who deported more illegals than any president ever, and was also putting kids in detention. but sure, blame Trump for all of it. The fact of the matter is, the Democrats were the biggest opponents of illegal immigration until Trump also opposed illegal immigration. Anything Trump supports, the Democrats must oppose. That is why they are now cancelling Susan B Anthony.

This gets at something I've believed for some time, that a lot of Republican policies are based out of pure selfishness. "No tax raises on the wealthy! I don't want to pay 5% more money out of my six-figure income to help provide medical care for poor people!", "Get the homeless off our streets! I don't want my walk downtown bothered by smelly bums!", etc.
As a non-American living overseas, this is exactly the impression I get. Even though universal health care would benefit everyone, including them, they still rabidly oppose it. All the other policies that benefit only the rich and super-rich are totally fine and even necessary. These policies create the poor people and homeless that they label as lazy and unmotivated and desperately want to keep away from their neighborhoods. Try going to a job interview when you're homeless without clean clothes or access to a shower. If they don't want homeless people near them, support policies that help them get back on their feet. I didn't read anything about Republicans ranting and raving when their tax dollars went to bailing out banks because they are 'too big to fail.' As if that weren't enough, huge bonuses were given to the executives for essentially massively fucking up in their jobs. Any teacher, policeman, doctor, engineer, or any other member of society that hurt so many people would not be given a bonus. They would be fired and likely prosecuted, as they should be. Any small business that fails would not be bailed out. It would close its doors and that's that. I understand when people who are well-off vote for morons like the Bushes and Trump simply because they are Republican. What I can't understand is when low-income households vote Republican. They are voting for people who simply will not help them.

I wish someone would do a (full, accurate) analysis of how much it would cost to kick illegal immigrants out of the country, taking into account everything, including finding them, transport, etc. vs. how many jobs that money could create via direct paycheck (like police) and government contract with companies (like people who build roads).
I feel like kicking everyone out would end up costing more resources than they take up right now, and the net-net could end up begin both less services, and slightly fewer jobs.

I'm glad Bill briefly mentioned Lady Gaga's song 'Til it happens to you' because that song explains everything he's talking about. It's such a good song.
During the 2008 election Hillary gave a speech at a black baptist church in Alabama that made my skin crawl! Firstly, the whole time she was affecting this "down home" southern drawl that was so embarrassing, secondly, she kept quoting the bible with prefaces like, "As we all know, Mark 2:13 says," as if she was some devout Christian who capped every night by reading the bible, and lastly, she quoted some gospel song by a famous singer and civil rights hero, and in quoting it, she put on the most offensive "black" accent you ever heard! It was straight out of a 1890's minstrel show. And what breaks your heart is the audience was going crazy for it! Literally screaming for joy.
And you know if Sanders was up there telling them the actual policies he would enact that would drastically help them, but doing so in a dull tone, they would tune out and not vote.
A democracy is only as strong as its people. And we are a bunch babies laughing at jingling car keys. We're fucked.

When addressing potential voters, rather than explaining policy or anything substantial, she chose to buffoonishly pander to them in the most shallow way. This is not just me pointing out a single thing she did that I don't like. It is indicative of character faults unbecoming to a person seeking the highest office in the world. It is clear that she sees the public as infantile, and sees no problem in being deceitful to placate them.
