Now that Chromakopia’s dropped and we realize Saint Chroma was the one letting all the other characters into the execution booth, that’s probably gonna add a whole new layer to this
knowing that this album released in 2024, and ending his usual schedule of producing an album every 2 years, i think that st. chroma is letting them all into the booth to symbolize how shirtless tyler is starting a new era of sound seen in chromakopia
Some other details: 1. Tyler killed his alter egos from newest to oldest. He first killed Igor (2019), Flower Boy (2017), Cherry Bomb (2015). Then killed Wolf (2013), Goblin (2011) and Bastard (2009), then wrapped it up with his latest album CMIYGL (2021). 2. In this video, Igor is behind the other Tylers and also the background vocals. This is reminiscent to how the Igor album was constructed - Tyler spent a lot of the time staying in the background / didn't speak as much. He let the featured artists and production shine a lot more than usual. 3. At 0:20 in this video and 1:51 in the original video, Tyler says "Not to not explore and stay the same" then the camera switches to Cherry Bomb. Cherry Bomb was the first album where he seriously "explored" and switched everything up. This did not go in his favor since Cherry Bomb is considered his worst album, but it didn't stop him from exploring with Flower Boy, Igor and CMIYGL (2 Grammys and 1 Grammy nomination).
I feel like another good detail is that if Igor and Cherry Bomb don’t say anything, it’s like they are almost unapologetic both his critically acclaimed best album and his favorite album.
@@jtrap3179 There's a few songs on Igor that have very similar background singing like Running Out Of Time, Puppet and Gone Gone / Thank You. It could be a stretch but in general, Igor has more singing compared to his other albums, so I suspect that's how Tyler wanted to represent Igor on this song.
Unconfirmed, but I like to think the reason Cherry Bomb Tyler and IGOR don’t say anything is cause Cherry Bomb Tyler doesn’t have anything to apologize for, and IGOR is doing the adlibs:) (I LOVE to think IGOR is doing the adlibs)
@@WyWid in a song/project this big and meaningful for the future of his career I believe theres obviously a reason for everything that is and ins't in the song
I personally just want more Tyler projects, he definitely was right when he said he shouldn't be classified as a rapper or anything like that. ( I forget when he specifically said that I'm paraphrasing here) He is an artist more than anything, not scared about branching out and being just more of himself in each album. Here's hoping his new page is something worth remembering just as the rest have left an impression on all of us! 🎉
he shouldnt be classified as an urban (genre) artist because it feels to him like a racist noun for him.* [I'm reminding you of what he specifically said]
I think it’s kind of a cool theory that my cousin told me. She said that the audience is like all the people that come and see you before you get executed on death row. It’s like all his alter egos knew they were going to die throughout the song waiting for the Tyler without a shirt to kill them off one by one getting everything off their chest. I just hope that Tyler can explain everything in this video and exactly what he meant. This video is so amazing. I personally think this is one of the best videos for 2023 hands down. I might just be wrong about this theory but I do think it’s a cool way to interpret it.
I agree with this theory! It makes sense too because its clearly portrayed as an event, not just a random set piece, and the no pictures sign solidifies that. Like if you go to a concert or any event you go to, typically will have a "no pictures" policy. So to play on your cousins theory, it is an execution, and all the people he has wronged are paying to watch his death and downfall essentially. I feel like it symbolizes how a lot of the people he wronged would like to see him fail, or at least he feels that way. I know from my own life experiences that when you wrong people in your life, sometimes it can feel like they just want the worst for you after that. Whether the audience portrayed in the video actually feels that way or not, its symbolic of his guilt.
I think something else people havent noticed about the video or just havent mentioned is that Tyler not only had a callback to another Tyler version before the curtains opened but foreshadowed that he was going to kill off versions of himself. The military person in the beginning is a callback to the Sam is Dead music video where he before this killed a bunch of Tyler's and by his presence is signalling a death to a version of himself and the coming of an amount of maturity and change in sound.
This could be true, I've seen a lot of people point towards this. My only thing is though the military guy in Sam Is Dead is wearing a white uniform, so if it is supposed to be a nod towards this, why not just make the suit white? It could definitely still have a deeper meaning but I equally think this might be a moment when fans are looking too hard for something subliminal, it could just be to symbolize that its a guarded event of sorts, like another comment said an execution.
i like how shirtless tyler goes one by one through the characters but he goes backwards rather than in order of when they were "released" with the album they belong in
One other thing that is quite important to note is this: At the beginning of the song, Tyler Bodelaire talks about how his chains shine brighter than a black man's plight. We know from this video that his "final form" is the shirtless tyler, no chains, no fancy clothes, no mask. Which means he stripped himself of all the things that Tyler Bodelaire blinded himself with (he blinded himself with the shiny ice), he stripped himself of any Mask (Goblin, Cherry Bomb). He keeps eye contact when talking from his heart (Flowerboy Tyler looked away from the camera); He is done beating himself up over his emotions (Bastard, Wolf). So with the next time we hear from Tyler, it will possible be the open version of Tyler, a Tyler that is honest with himself and shares his honesty with everyone. Tyler is honestly my favourite artist, together with K.
Brooooo this is an amazing analysis and I missed so much even though I listened to the song so many times. Thank you! I hope you get more appreciation and views soon
also I think this is a turn for a more raw, more violent and angry tyler again, due to Gobin and the Bastard being left out. Like he couldn’t beat them or move past them even if he tried. Maybe that’s why he’s beaten at the end
well i think its a super creative way to explain how we get older and our views and morals change constantly, including our interest. each tyler is just what era of what he was into at the time. every fews years your a little different from who you were 2 years ago, but your still the same old you. no matter what, it just shows how we are constantly thinking differently and changing.
One thing I see a lot of reactions gloss over is that Tyler KILLS Baudelaire. People seem very caught up on agreeing with his statements but not that his "sorry, not sorry" attitude isn't good. It's rage, it's vitriol, and you can see it in the climax. Base Tyler isn't saying 'sorry, not sorry', Buadelaire is, and Base kills him for it. (If we're to assume he kills all of them as representing a disagreement with who he was then/certain decisions he made or ways he behaved)

excellent song, I enjoyed GREY Area from Simz and have been late on listening to her 2 new albums. I just listened to that song and you’re so right, wowowow
The thing that got me about the video was how it looks less like a human zoo or even an execution. In the past, some people would capture people of color and put them in a zoo for paying customers. There are also examples of forced gladiator-style fights to the deaths, grabbing random BIPOC folks off the street It kinda ties into Tyler's frustration with being in a public light that tries to strip him of his privacy and what makes him a person. A public light that has killed people but still cries for everything you have and more.
Bruh, if you remember this in a couple years you’re gonna be embarrassed. When I was in my early teens I used to say this stuff. I used to only like Eminem and Kendrick and old rappers. great video, really exellent video. I would just like you to touch on the theory that the shirtless Tyler is the persona of his next album and what we know about this character for now in a shorter video. Otherwise this video earned you my subscribe
he gets it, this video really broke down everything that not a lot of people understood. i’ve been listening to tyler for almost 4 years, his eras have so much personality and have changed a lot. if you compare what he was like during the goblin era compared to him now it’s way different. simply because he has grew and matured as a person.
I said this was tylers geatest work when it released. All these months later and It has only gotten more cemented in my mind as the single best thing Tyler has ever made
you said the goblin tyler was the one in the green mask but i dont really think thats true based on context and the storyline of the wolf trilogy. i think the one in the green mask is actually bastard while the one in the blue and red jacket is goblin. goblin was a mixture of both wolf haley and ace, which was tylers self perfection fighting with his aggressive thoughts. bastard has 2 album covers which tyler himself mentioned to be 2 reflections of good and bad because of the coloring. With red representing bad and blue representing good it would make the most sense for goblin to be clearly the one wearing the representative colors because of the album sort of merging the 2 personalities
I thought of a few thing while watching this 1. The shirtless Tyler is the base tyler and he wants to kill all his past “personas” if that’s the right word, and wants to continue or “start” on a new slate, like a new identity now 2. The base tyler isn’t actually base tyler and actually a new Tyler or it is a base tyler and maybe (if he makes another album, he could do a coryxkenshin and be gone for longer than he said, who knows) he’s gonna make an album without no “persona” and being genuinely him. 3. He wants to end the story there, he wants to end it like a musical, and he doesn’t want no happy ending, he just wants to stop it there, but knowing him, this might not be as likely If you have any other theories, put them in the reply section, i would love to hear other people’s thoughts and I love talking to people about theories so yeah, have a good day and I wish you all the best.
@@Zeus-715 they probably didn't mean an exact "new context" but outright confirmation of a new ego entirely, it seems fair enough to point it out at least
I've seen lots of different reasons as to the order of his alums being killed. It could be newest to oldest but I've seen other interesting ones like least to most prideful or which albums changed him the most. I think it could be a combination of all of these or maybe its something none of us can ever know and we just have to wait.
As a rock fan and a rap fan this kind of reminds me of David Bowie This whole idea of building and alter ego for each musical phase and what do they mean for the artist
I hope you se this comment, because it’s (kinda) clear what the song means- if you buy the song and not stream/watch it on RUclips, instead of the estate sale at the end, Tyler states “A new era is upon us”
It won’t happened based off of how the music video ended but an album similarly built like Igor of just this song would be amazing. A storyline and telling of how he killed off the Tyler’s one by one and even at that the possibility of using that Tyler’s style of singing in each song describing how they were killed just sounds perfect
In the beggining when everyone is walkingin , there is a handshake with someone in a green shirt that we dont see again anywhere else in the video. Green shirt person when in the theatre but was the only one who wasnt shown during the sorry audience sequences. Anyone think it could be a hint?
I think that the shirtless tyler is the next version of him, slowly removing his past versions; moving on. The second to last line he says "I gurantee another era is upon us"
I love this but I wish you brought up the ego, how his more ego filled parts speak up like how boudalare is his highest ego and then goblin, the stuck up "bastard" and it corelates to the verses and how many there are for each ego
to me, i see that as baudelaire is killed last its tyler going and killing all his egos he has faced in the past and baudelaire is seen as the biggest ego from the other tylers in the video
Now that Chromakopia’s dropped and we realize Saint Chroma was the one letting all the other characters into the execution booth, that’s probably gonna add a whole new layer to this

This whole idea of building and alter ego for each musical phase and what do they mean for the artist
2:25 Tyler has gone on the creator lol
I hope you se this comment, because it’s (kinda) clear what the song means- if you buy the song and not stream/watch it on RUclips, instead of the estate sale at the end, Tyler states “A new era is upon us”
tyler tha goat frfr
Tyler need to direct for the MCU
this video is so high end.
having autism, i've always had a problem with saying sorry when i didnt mean it (99% of the time)
this song helped me for sure
It won’t happened based off of how the music video ended but an album similarly built like Igor of just this song would be amazing. A storyline and telling of how he killed off the Tyler’s one by one and even at that the possibility of using that Tyler’s style of singing in each song describing how they were killed just sounds perfect
Sounds like over kill
i had to pause for a second to laugh when you said "tylers the creators" 😭😭
In the beggining when everyone is walkingin , there is a handshake with someone in a green shirt that we dont see again anywhere else in the video. Green shirt person when in the theatre but was the only one who wasnt shown during the sorry audience sequences. Anyone think it could be a hint?
It’s base tyler.
See the thing is you can see him walk in right after and then he’s opening the curtains.
Same hair.
Or. It’s not him.
awesome video. I since this song came out I've waited for a breakdown video
but can someone explain to me what did the guy with the beard represent ?
Genius
I think that the shirtless tyler is the next version of him, slowly removing his past versions; moving on. The second to last line he says "I gurantee another era is upon us"
Also when he says fuck ‘‘em at the end it’s a reference to Earl sweatshirt pre
Tyler is the best artist of this generation (besides Ye and Kdot ofc)
I didn't even notice that IGOR was in the video
thanks rock
I love this but I wish you brought up the ego, how his more ego filled parts speak up like how boudalare is his highest ego and then goblin, the stuck up "bastard" and it corelates to the verses and how many there are for each ego
Tylers’ the creators
Convenient little dodge there
You should talk about the earfquake music video by Tyler the creator
to me, i see that as baudelaire is killed last its tyler going and killing all his egos he has faced in the past and baudelaire is seen as the biggest ego from the other tylers in the video
My goal is to have my thing rose as hard as Tyler’s was in this video one day. Definitely a dope song tho
So did Igor and goblin die? Because we don't see a close-up when they die like we do with every other ego.
