    That was just so good! I was humiliated in a workshop last weekend by creating what the teacher called "deadly green" and even though I knew it was not good, I just couldn't do any better and push the greens into the background, mid & foreground. 'Just didn't know what I was doing. What I had to do was create a grassland with deep greens, just as you demonstrated. Creating that distance and then foreshortening it. Wow. You've given me something to practise with now. 'Very grateful & subscribing.

    I'm SO glad I found your video. I've been struggling with grass on a painting and your explanation of the different types of strokes, brushes, colors and methods has really helped me. I had almost given up on the painting until I saw this. I can't wait to get back to my painting. Thank you so much for your clear explanations! And thank you for your time in doing this - I appreciated it and I watched it all in one sitting!

    I can't believe that you get any negative comments on your video. I guess someone forced them to watch it against their will. Anyway, I really appreciate the time you took to explain your techniques step by step and loved the two cameras. It's very helpful to actually see what you're doing on the palette, also. You are very good. Thanks for sharing and keep the free lessons coming.

    do you often paint acrylics on watercolor paper?? the reason I ask is, I have a huge roll of watercolor paper and want to use it for acrylics......

    • @cinderblockstudios
      @cinderblockstudios  9 лет назад

      +Mary Aruksar I personally don't do it very often, but it does work well as long as you don't paint too thick. It's painting paper often yields better results for precision painting of more graphical styles.

    • @TaniaRouserArt
      @TaniaRouserArt 8 лет назад

      +Mary Aruksar Depends on how thick the paper is. Mine is approximately 300 g/m2 which refers to 140 lb I believe. I apply a number of layers and some can be quite thick. It works perfectly.

      +DMC Films and Cinder Block Studios Hello! I don't mind the actual length of your video at all. Most painting vids are lengthy, some in the 3-4 hours range with not a single complaint about the length of the video but if I may make a suggestion for future vids, It would greatly enhance the viewer's pleasure if you could just keep a more upbeat pace and if you are continuously providing information your viewers will stay engaged. I think that is why a lot of people were rather irritated or upset with this particular vid. There are a good amount of lulls throughout which gives the viewers time to become uninterested, bored or in some of our cases, actually fall asleep. I kept trying to watch the vid because I was certain that there was good content in the video (which there was!) and you are a knowledgeable and talented artist. A lot of people, new or seasoned artists, could learn a great deal from you. Don't take this personal, it's just feedback so you know what kind of experience I had as one of your viewers and what I feel would make future videos more enjoyable and productive. Ty for taking the time to put the vids together and responding to my comment. Happy Painting!

    • @cinderblockstudios
      @cinderblockstudios  8 лет назад

      WHOA TEXT WALL!
      I appreciate the suggestions. Many of my shorter videos are more upbeat than this, but it's harder for me to be peppy when I'm focused. In many of my video I have gotten better at filling the silence with talk on technique, but after awhile I run out of things to say. All of my longer videos have this problem really.

      @cinderblockstudios  9 лет назад

      Dan Butterworth Well that's all your opinion. My long tutorials exist for those that need the lengthy explanation. My shorter videos exist for people like you who want shorter content.

    • @danbutterworth1219
      @danbutterworth1219 9 лет назад

      DMC Films and Cinder Block Studios Yes - that's my opinion. That's why there is a comment block. Your reply sounds a bit curt so if you don't want opinions or input - don't put the videos up for the public. Learn to take criticism in stride.

    • @cinderblockstudios
      @cinderblockstudios  9 лет назад +1

      Dan Butterworth Sorry if I sounded a bit negative, but your comment seemed equally as "curt." I'm just saying my video are for beginners and not everyone will find use in them.

    • @Evilzoot99
      @Evilzoot99 9 лет назад +5

      Dan Butterworth You are one miserable individual. Your initial comment implies you were disappointed with the overall content of this video. Personally I think it was well thought out and highly informative - not bad for free. Your input is totally invalid when it is overly apparent that this is a beginners tutorial. I am quite sure he more than welcomes criticism but the point you seem to be missing is whether or not it is deemed 'constructive' criticism. Who cares if it isn't to your taste anyway - are you someone important? want your slippers fetching?

      DMC Films and Cinder Block Studios Dear me you still don't get it do you? How obtuse.
      You hacked me off. No one else just you alone. Did you never hear the expression "a picture is worth a thousand words"? Take it on board big boy over here we'd call you a gobshite!

    • @cinderblockstudios
      @cinderblockstudios  9 лет назад

      +Ian Kirkup I "hacked you off?" yeah, I don't even know what that means. Look I get it, you don't like my work and you don't think I'm good. Guess what? My subscribes seem to think differently. Just because you aren't helped by this video doesn't mean you need to bring others down. Not that I'm bothered by your trolling comments, as it does boost the engagement of this video and helps it spread more (ie. your hate his helping this video out). Also...yeah I know this is a long video. I don't expect most people to sit down and watch the whole thing. That's why I include time codes in the description box to break down each lesson in to manageable chunks. Maybe you'd like some of my shorter videos instead, but I doubt you'd have anything positive to say on those either.

    • @mindseye4914
      @mindseye4914 6 лет назад

      No dude first of all I gave your video a thumbs up because I learnt something from it. For which I am very thankful to you. But just a word of unsolicited advice is that you just need to DO what you're trying to show rather than waste 5 minutes before showing the technique just talking talking talking about the technique. If you would just DO what needs to be done and speak while using that technique it would make for a very engaging and efficient instructional video. But you're talking too much leading up to whatever it is that you're trying to show and then one has to end up forwarding the video and then you miss something and then you need to rewind it to where you start showing the technique. Its been a bit of a headache.
      Yes, I get it you that don't owe anything to any of us negative commenters. And I just need to shut my mouth and move on. I just wanted to learn something, which I did. So thank you once again for that. But I wish you would think about what I wrote above.

    • @cinderblockstudios
      @cinderblockstudios  6 лет назад

      Sorry I'm used to random comments from haters on this video (and a handful of others). The thing is that I do have shorter videos but tutorials like this draw in viewers who really need the breakdown of that step by step on exactly what I'm doing. I found more negativity in doing quick stuff where people were like "whoa that's too fast," than I get people thinking that ones like this are too long. You can't please everyone, but this type of speed seems to do well in the art community here on RUclips.
      Those like the two of us I feel can learn a lot more from a time lapse than we can a long tutorial like this.

    • @mindseye4914
      @mindseye4914 6 лет назад +1

      I understand. Anyway thank you for making this video and showing your technique. The universe will reward you for helping us other beginners with learning important technique. Thanks again
