Thank you for your jeep fender removal and replacement video. Thanks to you and thevntire weekend I managed to change out all 4 on my 2008 wrangler unlimited. THANKYOU!!
Tip: You can avoid breaking the black plastic clips if you lift up firmly on the fender flare as you pull it away from the Jeep. The plastic fender flare will pull out of the clips and leave them attached to the metal fender wall of the Jeep. Use needle nose pliers to reach behind the metal fender wall and pinch the tabs on the clips so you can pull them out. You can then reuse them. I did this without breaking a single clip.
All you need is a small punch tool to push the center of the plastic ruvet. Also since you're separating the inner liner from the fender flare you can do that before you remove the fender flare from the jeep and save all the clips. I didn't break one single clip when using the proper body clip removal tool. I don't understand why everyone thinks you have to yank the whole fender flare off with brute force.
Great video. Very helpful. Only thing I would recommend, is to have someone else hold your camera for close-up shots when you're not able to hold the camera.
Great video. I didn't know I could get the kit from Rugged Ridge but now I'm going to reattach my fenders. They have been loose for a while now. Thanks for all the info.
Had no problem taking the old flares off... it was in trying to resinstall them that I had an issue. No matter how hard I push, the pins will not re-engage into the body sheet metal. I think I will try putting the flare on first and then mounting the inner fenders as the final step.
@@roberthikade9759 Here's what I learned.... the clips used to hold the flares on are not all made the same. They look the same, but some are much much much more flexible than others. The softer more flexible ones just pop right in! I ordered a couple or three bags off Amazon from different vendors. Hate to drop the few extra dollars but when I got some that were made of a softer plastic, the issue was solved.
Great video. Just did this. You can get the front ones off by pulling up and out with out breaking all the connectors (I'd still use new ones though). The rear it's near impossible to lift up enough so I had to use brute force and it feels like the fenders will almost break ;-0. Amazon has connectors for much cheaper than other places but I needed 2 sets...cost about $27 for two sets. I also added an extra "christmas tree" connector at the very front end of the front bumpers as there is no connector there. Weird.
Great video. What about that very front place for a clip where it doesn’t have a slot to put the clip into? It’s at the very front of the front fender.
I’m gonna answer my own question and say I think you can use a Christmas tree in there to hold it. It’s weird how they made that without a way to get a clip in.
I'm doing the rear fender flares but finding it difficult to put new flare on where the rectangular clips just go right in the holes. They keep falling out of the wheelwell liner. How did you line up and snap in so easy?
The inner liner and the outer fender are riveted together. You would have to drill out the plastic rivets still on the car to separate them but that’s causing more work for yourself
Must purchase them in raw plastic and have someone paint them to match. I purchased a spray can kit basecoat color and 2k spray clear..cost for my kit was 100$ all spray cans..color/ clearcoat
What is the name of the tool used to push in those pins ? I think you said you bought it at harbor freight ? Awesome video. Much better video that folks at Extreme Terrain put out.
Did you say Go back on the CAR😑 You can Also go up Behind the fender Clips with a pair of needlenose pliers squeeze behind the clip, Then the fenders just pull off without breaking the clip 😉 your welcome 😁👍
I’ve seen the trend. But it will eventually fade again. Still requires maintenance. Besides, if you want to color match your keep it’s the only option… event though mine was black. Lol
By far the best "factory" remove and install video out there. Thank you for sharing...
I'd argue that the best removal video for the rear fenders is my own. ruclips.net/video/cjLOoLHzlW4/видео.html
Very nicely illustrated! Thks for helping teach others how to “do it yourself projects.”
Keep teaching and I’ll keep watching. 😎

I OWE YOU $52
Exactly!

I'm having the same problem you did putting them on. Did installing them separate work for you?

Thank you for an excellent video. It is exactly what I needed. Much different from the older model Jeeps. Carry On.
Excellent video...very informative. Your Jeep looks a thousand times better.

Thanks for doing this video, very helpful info. Jeep looks very sharp with the painted flares. Planning on doing the same! 👍
Heck yeah! Thank you! Short and sweet and accurate
Thank you for taking the time to make this helpful video.
Great presentation and recording
Thanks this vid helped a lot in replacing my finders
Awesome! I appreciate you sharing this. It would have taken me much longer to do this as i would have missed a few things.
Best oem jk fender flares video!!!
Thanks for sharing
Can I use the same round flat all around? I see you used different ones for different spots.

Thanks for sharing the clip info. I will go to Amazon and get some
Can I paint over a textured fender to a smooth fender?
Nice work, thanks!
ok your spot on. thanks for the info
excellent, I kinda missed the rivet gun and purpose
I agree, getting ready to tear into it. lol thanks for the great content my friend!
Where did you get both the new painted fenders and the clip replacement kit?
I bought the fenders on OfferUp and had them painted. The kit came from Quadratec.
Does this Jeep have a lift on it trying to find out what a non lifted Jeep looks like with aftermarket flares.
It has a lift
I'm doing the rear fender flares but finding it difficult to put new flare on where the rectangular clips just go right in the holes.
They keep falling out of the wheelwell liner.
How did you line up and snap in so easy?
They aftermarket fenders?
This video does not remove the fenders, only the fender flares and linings.
Do you absolutely have to take out the inner liner?
The inner liner and the outer fender are riveted together. You would have to drill out the plastic rivets still on the car to separate them but that’s causing more work for yourself
Thanks great video super helpful!
You did not remove and reinstall the fenders. You removed and reinstalled the fender flares.
Great video - exactly what I am doing - thanks
This video is for the fender flares, not the fenders as the title states. Good video, just not for the actual fenders.
what its the name of the tool you use for the large taps for the fender to the liner you know the larges taps around the fender
Are you referencing the plastic rivets?
Looks way better
What kind of screws did you used? Min 11:03
I think those were the bigger 10mm screws.
Do you have the part number for the bag of clips that holds the fender to the body?
Looks like he purchased "OMIX 11609.25 Fender Flare Hardware Kit for 07-18 Jeep Wrangler JK" from Quadratec
551570055AA
All you had to do is take a heat gun. It brings the oil to the top and they will look brand new. And you can paint them if you use sealer first.
Do you have to get them painted or can you order them the correct color?
Honestly I don’t know. I bought them off Craigslist and had them painted.
Must purchase them in raw plastic and have someone paint them to match. I purchased a spray can kit basecoat color and 2k spray clear..cost for my kit was 100$ all spray cans..color/ clearcoat
Do you have red covers on your shocks?
Yes, red boots on the Rancho shocks
What is the name of the tool used to push in those pins ? I think you said you bought it at harbor freight ?
Awesome video. Much better video that folks at Extreme Terrain put out.
It’s a plastic rivet gun.
TYVM.
Where can I find them fender flares please?
They are stock flares. eBay or Craigslist is a good source.
Nice jeep
Question! Can i reinstall my OEM fenders without the liner?
You can but looses some of its support and rigidity.
@@mantovaniracing So you recommend to also put back the oem liner?
@@kennethdao7708 that would be preferred. But if you just put larger tires on the Jeep like 35” then you will have to “trim” the liner.
Did you say Go back on the CAR😑 You can Also go up Behind the fender Clips with a pair of needlenose pliers squeeze behind the clip, Then the fenders just pull off without breaking the clip 😉 your welcome 😁👍
Another time and money saver if you don't want to paint them is to use a heat gun. Brings them back to new in seconds.
I’ve seen the trend. But it will eventually fade again. Still requires maintenance. Besides, if you want to color match your keep it’s the only option… event though mine was black. Lol
them are fender flars NOT fenders
Not very help can't see what your doing with the fender in the way
Hmm... everybody's listing their fender flare videos as fenders
50 bucks for the plastic clips? Sheeeeeeeeeesh. I bought a "universal" clip kit on Amazon for basically nothing
intro WAY too loud
I know, I have been told. I’m still new at making videos
Thanks this vid helped a lot in replacing my finders
Great video - exactly what I am doing thank you
