“Ladies of negotiable virtue” Ahhh, rest in peace, Sir Terry 😢
GNU, Sir Terry!
Ah, the good 'ol Seamstresses' Guild
@@skyllalafey you dont mess with Seamstresses' Guild
Jon you need to get recordings of a bunch of people saying "I've had my eye on this one for a while" and play that.
He should use his own recordings. Should be enough to get a nice Jon only choir.
@@agurdel can someone please edit this together
I feel like Jon could make a song out of himself saying "I've had my eye on this for a while" if you just tweak the sound a little and add a beat.
The first thing that caught my eyes are the gorgeous bold colours. I love a game that has a nice and bold art style just as much as a subtle and soft one.
It is a really beautiful aesthetic, and I'm not sure why, but the animation style really suits it.
@@ManyATrueNerd It has the same feel as something like Into the spiderverse. Bold colours and thick linework, combined with the choppy animation really gives that comic book artstyle. It also really reminds me of the art of the french Jean Giraud Moebius comics.
@@ManyATrueNerd If your curious, I believe they call it animating "On two's".
Where usually it would be for one frame of animation, instead they hold it for a frame or so longer - giving it that more 'hand-drawn' look.
@@ManyATrueNerd it reminds me of the color choices of the simpsons. Creators famously said that they chose them to catch the eyes of channel surfers
I am so amazed that such a small studio has managed to create such a visually stunning game! I have to say it is a true masterpiece when it comes to graphics
at first I thought it was strange that they have this coming of age ceremony where a kid has to leave home and figure out what they want to do with their life totally on their own. But then I realized its kind of beautiful because they only do it for this little window of time this tech works for them (for some reason, there seems to be just a window of time that the bubble works, not sure why) because the bubble makes you completely invincible. Its basically "here's some magic that lets you fly and immune to any danger you might put yourself in. Have fun seeing the world, and come back when you figure out what you think of it!" Which makes a lot more sense and the kind of thing I imagine a lot of people wish they could have in their life.
Strange? Not heard of the Australian rite of passage, walkabout? Months spent in the bush.
They’d have far less to ‘walkabout’ with, a knife if anything, and gain far more as a result.
yes but that would make u incredibly soft, mentally, physically and emotionally cause the worlds a harsh place mentally, physically and emotionally. its always best to experience some mental, physical, emotional pain, struggle and danger while young so u know how to handle it better while ur grown and alone for the most part when ur an adult. this concept of living in a bubble and always needing a safe place is whats slowly weakening 1st world countries all over the world. The real world can be a harsh place weather someone likes it or not and no amount of sheltering and protecting a person/child will change that, its best we teach children from young to prepare as best they can for it and how to deal with these types of situations when they happen, because they WILL happen.
Wow, MASSIVE Moebius vibes from this art style. Really great choice!
Like Moebius and Jodorowski collaborated on a video game.
Kind of sad Jon missed the chum behind him during the closing address, i wouldve loved to hear his reaction to his first chum
Shoutout to Japanese Breakfast who did the music!! One of my favorite musicians and based on her instagram posts really put her all into this soundtrack.
it's like a bunch of design majors made a video game. i dig it.
This wasn't what I expected. This looks gorgeous
This is a beautiful game. The running animation gives me serious nostalgia vibes. I'll have to look it up.
I 100% this game (all chums, achievements, outfits, bike parts) .. such a beautiful experience.
This is nice. I'd happily see some more. I do hope you get to see the water at some point; I imagine that could be quite stunning.
I kinda love the comic art style and animation style of 3nd frame. Reminds me of into the spiderverse in terms of that kind of movement but a little more choppy
Oh no, not another dam! I'm still traumatised by Jon's knowledge of how dam's operate from The Last of Us!
"Posted 4 seconds ago" wow never have I been this early! Also, had my eye on this one, haven't played yet so I look forward to this one!
The climbing and gliding mechanics look really solid. Love the game!
Fingers crossed this wins a livestream vote! I'd love to chill to a livestream of this.
I really enjoyed this game too when I played it, but it's turned out to be a touch buggy so I'll be waiting for some patches.
But it turned out to be an amazing game and I've almost finished it even with those bugs, and the bugs didn't stop me from enjoying it in the slightest, I just wanted see everything it has to offer before finishing it.
I literally just started playing it earlier today and it’s the best thing I’ve played in a while
I had to stop watching after the first 2 mins to buy this game 😂
ITS SO PRETTY
And it's an open world desert exploration game?!
Everything I like!
This is the shortest 30 minute video i've seen in a while, i want more Sable.
So much potential for a Livestream! Looking forward to that!
Love the artwork. The style is style
Glad to see you making a video about this one. Want to play it myself a bit before I watch the whole thing, though - don't want to spoil the discovery!
The art style of this game heavily reminds me of Heaven's Vault - but that might just be me.
It's not just you. I was about to suggest that game based on the intro, but I see Jon's already covered it. So I know which video I'm watching next.
I got this game because of this video and I have to say it is quite wonderful
Damn this game is beautiful, it makes me miss Jon’s full length videos… hope to see this again
"Hopefully there's water on the other side of that dam" He says as he immediately opens it, luckily NOT destroying his entire populated valley in a cascade.
Of course you worship Mothman.
This is gorgeous. What a lovely game
Random fact, simoon is a word for a dry dusty wind.
It looks like a Mobius comic. It’s gorgeous
Would be wonderful to see a series on this game
Yes!!! Indeed, I've had my eye on this for a while haha. I mainly know of it through the music score by Japanese Breakfast, which is excellent, so I'm super curious about the gameplay!
absolutely lovely!
This is the most beautiful game I've ever seen. Stopped watching just to go pick it up and not be spoiled for the rest of it.
After reading the steam page, I just realized that there is no combat in this game at all. Which is really surprising for this genre of games, but I can't believe that I was so entertained and enthralled by the game without combat. Now I wonder how the end game will be later on as I wonder if the traveling and exploring will become boring or tedious, or if the exploration aspects will carry the whole game.
Simoon, or simoom is a hot, sand-laden wind. It also gets a mention in Frank Herbert's Dune.
6 seconds in and this looks a lot like Heavens’ Vault with the style and I’m here for that
Boy I do love some cell-shaded muted colors in animation
Whoever did the art is clearly a fan of Mobius. Looks exactly like his work.
This game is beautiful. It reminds me of Jean Giraud and Kilian Eng art style.
@18:08 "Where did you learn to fly?" flashbacks.
If it turns out that this is procedural, and each run is different, I would ask for a series.
A) watching this game gives me a migraine, just like XIII. B) how did jon not recognize the mothman when he saw it? hasn't he played a bunch of 76?
This game reminds me of a game called Journey... Just good nostalgia.
Absolutely lovely.
Turns out sable is "sand" in french, my spanish was leading me in a whole different direction.
This looks very Dr Suess-esque. Also I think its time for a harmony of Jon's who say "I've had my eye on for a while" with you
"An ibex is any of several species of wild goat, distinguished by the male's large recurved horns"
Day 502 of requesting Zoo Tycoon. We need a compilation of all the times Jon's said he's had his eye on something for a while. Also, this looks like it could fit into that new star wars thing they're doing
I'd love a stream of this.
The art style of this game give me Miyazaki vibes. I can't pinpoint why, it's just what comes to mind.
Love this.
I believe that "Sable" is also the French word for "sand". Claire can confirm...?
There's a Marathon De Sable across a desert, so I'd say yes.
This looks and feels like Tiny and Big: Grandpa's Leftovers (2012).
" Drug's, Gambling, Women of Negotiable virtue ..Here I come!" .. LMAO.
The art style and ambience is really similar to this weird game called Tiny & Big : Grandpa's Leftovers.
Did any of the devs work on that?
The style of shading and edge detection also give me Zineth vibes.
What apocalypse? Your planet is just where aliens dump their old beaters.
You know, I suddenly feel a lot more bad about looting chests in temples when it's a temple people are, you know, using.
28:40 what's that wiggly thing?
Yay loved it more please
If you love this you should check out Book of Travels, its coming out on the 11th of October.
Looks like a Moebius graphic novel
Best game ever
This is like Jean Giraud aka. Moebius made a game!
I completely agree.
Hey John! No idea if you’d be interested in it, but our team made a VR comic called Icebreakers that is very much in this style (though before Sable came out). We were inspired by Moebius and pirates!
The full walkthrough is on RUclips under Icebreakers, team Smallfry.
If you ever get the chance, I’d love to hear your thoughts on it! Been following you for years and I love the way you approach games, especially more niche ones.
Lifestream of this please!
This was interesting!
I've been playing this for hours....and only when I watched your video did I notice the compass is actually a compass and indicates north....your perception has rubbed off on me!
There's so much stuff in this game it's awesome. On Xbox One X you get like 15 fps at the moment so be warned console players
yessss livestream please
Easily game of the year, buggier than Cyberpunk on launch. Oh the duality.
Hey Jon, I think you'd really like "Medieval Dynasty"
It instantly made my top 10 list
Yay
I'm not sure why, but this reminds me of Trigun.
Is it just me, or did Jon play this already. I would swear I've seen this on the channel before.
7:20 this is literally Breath of the wild without combat
This is going on your game of the year list for sure, right?
Did Everybody Sing Along?
I really can't see the "looks gorgeous" bit at all. But it has conan climbing! :)
Looks like you're playing a Tintin comic.
Should we tell him sable is French for sand or.....?
A total lack of swooshy swoosh
A lot of BOTW influence in this. Might have to look into it.
I have a slight suspicion someone on the dev team liked breath of the wild.
reminds me a lot of the first tomb raider games
I just don't get why they made the walk cycle so Janky when the rest of the game, particularly the cut scenes and bubble gliding is so smooth. It makes it awkward to watch.
I am feeling Prince of Persia actually
i am not super sold on the art style, the animations are a bit off putting and the greyscale isn't as nice as just darkness imo, but over all it looks like an interesting experience that i gotta try at some point
has some stability issues going by Steam reviews, hopefully gets some patching soon
I wish they would remaster Infamous
I tried to play this game, and its got some serious technical issues. The menu got stuck on me three times and I couldn't get out of it. I really wanted to play it but I got frustrated and gave up.
This is available on Xbox game pass for console and game pass for pc at the moment
This is so very much Nausicaa inspired
From just a couple minutes of watching this game, its gives me a 70s or early 80s vibe from the art work. Not sure why but it does. Kinda cool just probably not a game for me. Although it could just have a slow start
Probably getting the 80s vibe from Patrick Nagel's art, strong line work and colors... inspires me as a designer.
Yay why not Wednesday!
Ah Yes
SAND
So botw lite. I love botw so this will definitely be installed
