- A Tournament of the best of the best GPL drivers and somehow I qualified. 2 races, 60 minutes a piece with weighted car selection means everyone is compromising somewhere. Driver who completes the most laps and has the lowest total overall race time wins!
I'm excited to even be in this one, so come along with me as I struggle to keep up towards the back and hopefully luck out a little in the GPL Masters!

It's amazing to see GPL still going after all these years. I used to run an online F2 league back in the early days (so much easier to drive than the F1 cars) which was huge fun and really a highlight of my online racing "career". I miss playing GPL, so I am going to have a look at your suggestions on how to reinstall it. I also made some original tracks for GPL - East London (Sth Africa) and Aldo Scribante (Sth Africa) were 2 of the better tracks which were also great fun to produce. Good times!
Wow does this bring back memories! Had the pleasure [or humility] to race online with Huttu and other aliens back in the day. And yes, they earned the moniker. 25 years old now, hard to imagine, but I will say this, if you can learn to drive GPL and drive it well you can drive any other race sim out there with EASE. Keep em coming, you may have inspired me to dust off the old race rig!
Great race was nice to watch, thanks.
I will try to install GPL and I still using my 16 year old G25 wheel I hope it works :)
greetings from Holland
Marcel
love these 67 gpl cars... drove myself in an online league in the early 2000.
You can stream it more often in 2023 👍👍👍
Great race Jake!!!!!
You as well! I was hoping to catch you in race 2, but you had a great pace
First off, I would hardly call finishing 9th on aggregate in two 1-hour races in GPL against some of the best GPL drivers around "destroyed". I would call it "awesome" myself! Hell you did awesome just finishing the races without so much as a spin!
Second, I played this game a lot in the early 2000's and while it kicked my @ss so much, the reward I felt when I could put together several good laps in a row or finish a short race without incident was some of the most gratifying accomplishments I've ever felt in gaming. I learned so much about car control just from this game that it made me both a better driver in real life and a more attentive auto racing viewer. My greatest accomplishment was running a full race at Monza and finishing with only 3 spins but no contact. That was a long night but one I'll never forget. I've really got to get back into this game. Someday...
Third, once again I watched more of one of your streams than I ever imagined. I watched everything here except the RA qualifying session. That says a lot about informative and entertaining your streaming sessions are. I love your cool, laid back demeanor and your knowledge of both real racing history and sim history. Thank you so much for providing these high quality streams.
Just had a cursory glance at this, but Tristan Bot was in it and didn't win, so this was legit high level competition.
Thanks Jake. Thoroughly enjoyed that. Good consistent driving from you too - both races :). Would you consider going lower and harder on the car settings for the next time?
This is awesome Jake. Just caught up with it now, perfect for my morning workout entertainment. Much more fun that you weren't at the front racing away from everyone, made the racing super fun and gives you something to aim for. If we ever got VR for GPL, I don't think I would stop racing the game. I still enjoy dipping back into it now just wish they could get the 60fps working for AI racing.
Loved this, Jake! Thanks for making such great content that inspired me to get into Sim Racing, AC, GPL, GT4, RBR, and now Automobilista 2! Also, why was this event on the original physics as opposed to the improved physics?
Awesome stuff! 👍 I've been trying to get this game to work on my PC.
Great great content. GPL is still as much if not more fun than most modern sims for me. Thank you.
Road America has about 32 shifts in the lap I counted.
Really great driving and an exciting race, "love" GPL! Cooper and Ferrari was a good choice imo. Honda was totally amazing at Kyalami! Two back to back semi long races are pretty much the definition of an endurance race.
Thanks for visiting the aliens home world.
The odd thing about the Cooper was it handled better on full tanks. As the load got lighter it tended to push (understeer) more.
Where is Wolfgang Woeger when you need him?
A Ferrari master from the day, you drove very well such a difficult sim to drive and there have always been people that are so much faster than everyone else.
Especially over a long race distance like these were.
Ha, Rick Mears corner.
Good pass on Ferrina
I wish we had stuff like this for NR2003. Instead we have narcissists running small leagues, thinking they're big time :/
Your name is Demarais? Do you have french canadian ancestries?
back tires dont spin, gay.
He just had the handbrake on
