My life is about to get really cheesy! But I am not sure if I have the patience for this 😬

Ahoy everyone!
My name is Nike and I have been living and sailing on my sailboat Karl since 2013. After a massive refit marathon, I finally cast off the lines and learnt to solo sail my 37-foot Reinke Super 10 that I called "Karl". I am publishing videos (at the moment every two weeks) about the ups and downs of living, repairing and sailing my boat.
Since January 2022, I have a new permanent crew member: my furry friend Boga. When I started out, I did not know much about boat repair or solo sailing. Since I am still out there, I hope that my story inspires others, to chase their dreams, even if they might think they are not cut out for it. There is always a way, so I'll see you out there!

Thanks to everybody who has supported the creation of these video and has shared this epic adventure with me so far. It would not have been the same without you!
Lots of ocean love, Nike🧜♀, Boga 🐾 and KARL ⛵
Gracias Nike! Love seeing your joy at being back on Karl and sharing wonderful things with Paul!⛵️⛵️⛵️
Delightful! It’s a hard to believe the simple life that a still available!
Very nice seeing you as always
You and love you and your new companion ❤
So glad you had the chance to have raw milk to work with . I owned a dairy and we only sold raw milk it's the best sweet and had body to it as I would skim the cream off the top to make butter . Thus is so good for you now you have a skill for years to come .
As alway you've done well.
Angus.
There is nothing better in the world to have a loving Family and Good friends .. Love your Videos
Such fun. Lovely episode. “You’re too German” …. 😂 …. cheese cannot be hurried!! “Four hours, or two beers”. 🎉🍻
Really enjoyed your video today. I remember making cheese years ago. Your cheese making went much better than mine. Be safe. Enjoy life.
I hope both of you have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. thanks
The good side of life: peaceful walks, yoga, learning to make cheese, mixing with the locals, sharing different cultures through dance and food.
Good episode
What a lovely video experience you gave me right when I needed it most, thank you so much. :)
Nike und auch Paul, frölige Weinachten und ein Schönes Neujahr! I hope 2024 will bring you both fantastic new places and projects and I hope that we all will join via the videos.
Your way of boat life is really captivating. Enjoying the beauty along the way to see what others in their hurry miss. Latin america has a lot to offer...
Nike, you continually amaze!
What an awesome episode ... thank you!!
Brilliant episode, thank you both.
Great video Nike,Paul is an amazing man and such a good friend to you.the cheese making process was so interesting. Thank for sharing and stay safe.
Arguing with a Frenchman about making French cheese - brave but sooo stooopid! 🤣👍 Love watching Boga leading her best life, she looks so carefree and happy! 👍👍
She said that Paul is Swiss.?
@@DYoung-vt8pq , yes he is Swiss.
I so enjoy your way. Thanks for sharing as always!
This is a beautiful video in so many ways
Frohe Weihnachten und ein Glückliches und erfolgreiches Neu Jahr. Herzlichen Dank für die schöne Videos. Viele liebe Grüße aus Dänemark. 🌲⛵️
Thank-you, Nike - I really look forward to your 2024 adventures 😊
Brilliant video again!! Geil even. Also loved Paul's little jab at the Germans, with the French being in front of them. Classic.
Like it. I've never made cheese, but I remember aunt Mary making it in her kitchen way back in 1961. She used to fill her days cooking and baking, stotties and coffee cakes were my favourites.
What a beautiful episode, loving this channel and your adventures
What a life you have. I'm envious. Thanks for sharing it with us.
So very interesting, making cheese & tortillas! Thank you for sharing your adventures, Nike. Safe travels ❤
I was sad to see so much plastic on the beach! 😢
I miss having fresh milk. We used to make our own butter and it was the absolute best! And very easy to make!
Our farm is roughly 20kms from the village of Camembert, here in Normandy. Always great tuning in to your channel; been here since the beginning....Happy Christmas....rr .
Beautiful, and the cheese and tortillas look Great!
Merry Christmas 🎅 🎄
Merry Christmas🎄⛄☃️🎄
JOY!
Very Nice. As a frenchman i think food is à universal language
Truly enjoyed that
Thank you!
Making cheese reminds me of making home baked bread . The prep is easy , the waiting for the dough to rise is the hard part . As in bread baking , the cheese process is slow and you must be patient , but at the end you will be very satisfied .
What a lovely episode!! The cheese looks marvelous! Bet it will taste good, too. Loved seeing you two dancing.❤
Wow! this is definitely one of my favorites! I brew my beer and kombucha, but I've always wanted to get into cheese, too. This was so cool, basic, organic and natural, and with little reliance on the modern world that most of us rely on. So jealous, you're doing this kind of things in such cool places! The cheeses look amazing and yummy! Oh, and I love the doggy Buah(is it?). And another thing ....that wasn't the first cheese you made...we make cheese on our body all the time...lol....and it's all good
Thanks much !!
How cool! cheese making
I loved seeing the cheese making!
Excellent video. I see cheese in my future. Thank you for the tips. PS Dre is very jealous.
Wait! She said “…more about that next week”. Not “…. Next time.” I caught that! Can’t wait! So five more weeks for Camembert? How many beers is that?😊
Thought that episode was a bit cheesy !!! X
I grew up with Manual Milking. He was a nice guy. LOL. Actually my grandparents had a dairy farm with about 20 cows , he milked with machines. Later on in my life I took care of a cow here and there for other people. Eventually I had dairy sheep. That is the best milk on the planet.
And regretfully, with all that milk, I had not ever made cheese ! Paul is so cool !
I just love Camembert 😻
A useful man to know, Paul is, I am sure I remember him brewing alcohol on board his boat a while back. Most cruisers don't get past baking bread. How is his houseboat coming along? I seem to have forgotten his channel name.
That would be SV HIERBABUENA
@@svhierbabuena6683
Thankyou, I'll subscribe, because of the cheese, and hard to remember the name!
@@svhierbabuena6683 Literally translated his boat's name is : SV Good Grass 🤣
Paul is really a no-none sense guy, wanna make some cheese?
Here we go.
I will need a welding pen and some old plastic containers.
Hopefully the bacteria in the cheese will take care of the "hygiene" process. L
But in fact that gave the desire to make cheese myself!
I have to say scraping the rind from an existing camembert to make new camembert is brilliant.
We need a picture of that page from Paul's recipe book and what to do with the "petit lait" (whey) as we call it in French.
It is always a bit sad to see all that plastic laying on the beaches.
So I was the seventh thumb's up you got this morning and now you are at 62, good progress. One day I will be the first thumb's up you get ;-)
this is cruising. 😊
_"you too German"_ ~ Paul
😆
👏👏👏
Nice, much love. Shamim zahuri from bangladesh 👫 🤝 💏 🇧🇩
Missed Paul`s dog.
Unfortunately passed away.
Was able to get raw milk from local farmers - best I ever drank - you could really taste the cow
🌴🌴🌴🌴🌴
Mönsch Nike, diesmal wirkst Du absolut tiefenentspannt. Vielleicht wirkt Yoga schon?
Did you say next week 😂
Great episode again. Thnx for that. I live in the countryside in Holland and that means your neighbours are farmers. Milking cows is still done by the women, while the man puts his lazy ass on the seat of the tractor. The woman generates income, whereas the man burns diesel. I guess it works both ways as milking uses a lot of electricity these days. You talk to Boga. Good thing. Dogs understand. In my opinion better than humans. As you said...Boga sensed your anxiety. Dogs do not talk, but they understand. Learning to read their body language will give the answers. Yogaboga may help. Now to your questions on hygiene transporting the fresh milk. Personally I think that most people in, what we call the modern world, get sick due to an overkill of hygiene. Your thoughts? Finally. The French and the Dutch are famous for their cheese. I am Dutch, Paul is French and you are German. Why are Germans not known for their cheese. So gave the answer yourself. And Paul has a Dutch flag at his stern. Why?
The hottest cheese maker ever! 😋
Yeah, really cheesy! 👍
😀👍👍👍❤❤
if you need someone to edit the books. I volunteer. I am also fluent in German which means I get the syntax.. .. so your call.. g
in my area (I live about 50km north of Lüneburg) the job of milking the cows was a mans job. They were refered to as "Schweizer" de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Schweizer_(Beruf)#Schweizerei
