    I can't tell you how much I enjoy watching your videos. It honestly is like watching home videos of myself from the 1970s. I was born a redhead and had a delicate figure like you, and I was a true hippie at heart. Took long walks in the Colorado mountains, painted, made jewelry, listened to fantastic music like Yes, Moody Blues, Joni Mitchell, Led Zeppelin, and so much more. I sewed bell bottoms, skirts, and gauze blouses, and wore huarache sandals and flowers in my hair. I'm 65 now and even after a career, children, and marriage, I haven't changed a bit...except my red hair has turned white! So thanks for these lovely, peaceful videos! 🌟

      P.s i will put flowers in my hair in the next video inspired by you!❤️🥰🌸

      Hey Cindy. I was a little hippie in the Ozarks in the 70s. Im turning 63 this month. Still got my guitar and dulcimer. Still dress the same way. Why not be happy, right?
      Blessings.

      I'm 69, English and like you I enjoyed that glorious hippiness of the 70s. It was a magical blast from the USA for us in Britain though for you in the US it had serious social and political connotations. The effect of that era still lingers here! I still sew my own clothes, furnishings etc. constantly recycling stuff. Our children are grown up. My husband and I own an old cottage with a large garden. I love to grow my own veggies, fruits, flowers and herbs. I let the weeds grow to serve the bees and insects. All in all I've never let go of the hippy ethic of loving the planet and being as self sufficient as possible. Just last week a perfect stranger looking in the same shop window as I was asked me if I was a hippie. He was our age and looked cool and youthful in his denims. He told me he'd lived in the US at the time of The Hippie and
      had been disappointed that though he was near Woodstock he couldn't get into the festival because all the roads were blocked with cars going there. Finally, keeping chickens meant I had eggs all through lockdown when they became in short supply that's Hippie Power.

    I love these SO much. I lived through the 70s and would have definitely worn these! I would today too. I'd seen this video before, but revisited it today and I'm so glad I did. I recently made a pair of bell bottoms by inserting fabric triangles on the outside. Mine had flowers with pink, cream, purple and teal colours in them. They look great, but then I was trying to figure out what top I can wear with them. Everything seems to clash and I was feeling like I'd be limited to a plain colour top. Then I watched the beautiful blouse you wore with yours and realised it doesn't matter if the fabric in the bell bottoms doesn't match your top. You're such a free spirit, keep creating - I love your style, and your videos. :)

    I wonder if you know of quality fabric paints that are based in natural material for making the pigments but actually stains fabric? Id love to do this. Thinking of cutting out shapes of natural fiber and then dying w plant dye and sewing designs on the jeans that i cut into flare pants 😍✨🌼

    • @MayLina
      @MayLina  Год назад +1

      Thank you, my dear! I used whatever i had on hand haha, which means acrylic paint, not the best choice but it is still looking good. Best would be, of course, fabric paint, but i also found the oil paint to work good on jeans. But with oils you need to be careful, if paint is too oily it can leave the stain on the back panel as well, so cardboard underneath is a must☺️

    • @MayLina
      @MayLina  Год назад

      if they are normal length now, I don't thing they will be any shorter when flared, but if they are too short to begin with I would in the end add ruffle on the bottom to achieve the desired length☺

      Thank you, my dear! I don’t sell upcycled clothes (at least yet haha), but will be glad to help you make your own☺️ Yes, it is acrylic pain that i had laying around, it is not the best, but works. Also i’ve heard recently that if you apply heat to it with iron it will be holding stronger. Haven’t tried it tho☺️ Previously i used oil paint on jeans fabric and it holds very well, but of course, fabric paint is the best

    What kind of paint to use that won't wash off when put in the laundry?

    • @MayLina
      @MayLina  2 года назад +1

      I figured out in my painting days that if you get acrylics on you clothes it will stay no matter how hard you try to wash it off haha. So in my videos i tried both regular acrylic and oils, but yeah it requires careful washing. Oils, in my experience, do stay better tho. But if you don't want to think about it as much there are tons of fabric paints that will do the job probably the best!
