Ended up that my mini itx case was not tall enough to fit the internal USB cable connector and still get the case on. Moved the build to an ATX case and all is working great. Now I want to buy a SuperMicro server board and max it out with RAM, CPUs, gpu or two for AI. This KVM-A8 is great!
Hi, KVM-A8 itself does not provide OLED assembly, because it is a PCIe version and is installed inside the chassis, so OLED is not necessary. We put an OLED inside to facilitate some customers to debug or DIY. You can completely ignore it. Our installation video does not mention it either.
The big black 2x4 pin headers are for connecting to the front panel buttons and LEDs. One group of pins goes to the front panel and the other group goes back to the motherboard front panel header. Yes you can still use the buttons on the PC case perfectly fine. The internal USB header is to power the actual pi and the external power is to power the "hat" that comes with the kit. As long as you have more than just a single USB header on your motherboard then you will still keep the front USB functional.
Shows right on the small directions that come with it. Looks something like pwr, rst, hled, pled. If the LEDs dont light up then just invert the cable. Pretty simple.
That is kind of your fault. Should have checked the alignment before tightening down the screws. Just take it back out and readjust the screws. Pretty simple.
@@StephenBuergler I'm sorry I misunderstood your issue, that's my bad. Honestly I don't even know why they cutout for any of the USB ports because it's a KVM at this point and why would you need USB ports on a KVM?
@@markjones2349 it's k. so I can ssh in and do other things idk. fair point though I don't really use the ones I can get to for anything though. Are you connected with the project or just a user?
Bought one of these the other day and it was delivered a few hours ago. It's up-and-running in my home server right now! :)
More PiKVM technologies to the masses!
About time!
I just ordered one. Can't wait to be able to use my old mini itx PC as a second server/nas as easily as my HPE MicroServer over the LAN.

where does the LED screen go?

The front panel USB and power buttons will no longer work after installing this hardware?

Will this work with the MinisForum MS-01 host?
Do we have to install pikvm software or is it already on it
Hi, you need to install the PiKVM OS yourself.
Do we need to flash the OS before or after? Is it done via the OTG usb2/3 cable?
Flash the card on a PC and then insert into the pi like any other pi project. The card slot is always accessible even after assembly.
sould better specify the front panel pinout exactly. It's confusing as hell.

Отличное решение! (伟大的解决方案!)

How do you know what the up address is
kind of wish the other two usb ports weren't blocked by the bracket

@@markjones2349 Does your not look like it does at 5:30? there is only enough from for two of the usba ports

I paused during each step and it was a breeze to follow.
