This is a very nice machine no matter the paint not matching. It’s not a late model Ferrari, it’s farm equipment. Sometimes you have to just take things as they are and put it to work.
coming along just fine....there always seems to be some kind of a surprise expense...once you get it done, i'm sure it will serve you well for years to come
Never trust the gap from plug manufacturer . Check John Deere requirements , (Kawasaki) and set gap accordingly . I've seen gaps off as much as .025 ! All it takes is a dropped box with no visible damage .
Just inherited one of the 4x2’s and after a little love and some new gas it fired right up. My question is do these all sound like a damn diesel? Oil looks good and within its acceptable range, but it seems like it’s louder than the ones I’ve seen videos of.
No exhaust leak, I checked for that first. It actually sounds like a rod knock, tbh. But every video I’ve found of one running has the same little tick/knock but mine just seems louder. But I’ll be digging into it tomorrow so I’ll know more. Where did you get your JD Green paint?
I can't find a video or site that shows how to take the front cover off my old 4x2 Gator. It looks easy on the few that show a removal, just four screws and it pulls off. But mine has some kind of weird connection underneath the top screws and it's holding the thing on solid and won't budge. Mine has the black grill protector on it as well. I think it's a 2005 model, give or take a year. Any help?
This is the best video on RUclips for maintenance!! Thank you 😊
I recently purchased a1996 4x2 gator and I've been searching youtube for helpful videos. This video series is by far my favorite! Thank you!!
Thank you for the kind words and I hope these videos were helpful!
Always feels good to get the maintenance items taken care of! Nice looking ride Chris!!
Thanks! Its turning out pretty well so far.
We are about to get to work on a gator of our own. Great video!

I never realized those little gators like that were quite that complex, should be pretty tough and dependable machine when your done with it.
I hope so!

Definitely always surprises! This will be for sale when its finished.
Always find more than you expect... Always figure it will cost twice as much on any projects than you think.. looking good Chris!!
Yes, over budgeting is definitely a good idea!
@@dehavenfamilyfarm always hope for less expensive 😎
Nice job thanks
Awesome video
Thank you!!
Nice video! I always wanted to get a cheap project gator but even the broken ones are really expensive
There is an oil filter kit 4x2oilkit that can be added to these without filters.
Good video! The old transmission oil looked nasty. Gonna look nice when it's done!
Thanks! Yeah, that oil was pretty dirty.

If you still have the busted front fenders I would be happy to buy them. Feeling the same pain.
Is your's cold natured even when it's warm weather? Have to let it sit running few a little bit once started or it repeatedly dies.
It needs new clutch buttons on the secondary clutch some are missing.
Thanks- I will look in to that!
The gators are metric as most of them are built in Canada. I have seen some tagged as USA built. Not sure of production data.
Great video Gator is starting to look amazing! What is a self etching primer?
Thank you! Basically, it is a primer that bonds really well to the surface you apply it too.
Thanks for the video just purchased my new Gator, but wanted to learn about the machine..how many hours on yours when you got it.

No, it shouldn't sound like a diesel lol I wonder if you have a small hole in the exhaust or muffler...

@@misanthropic_anthropoid_6660 some of it was Rustoleum and some was factory green spray cans from my local Deere dealer.

Sounds like the previous owner did some funky repair. Best of luck!
@@dehavenfamilyfarm It was purchased brand new. Had it for years, runs like a top but now it's wearing out and I can't access stuff.
