I saw Alice in Chains just a few days after this at Lake Compounce in Connecticut opening Clash of the Titans and Layne got into a shouting match with a group of hecklers in the small early audience when it was still light outside. He called one guy a punk and told him to come backstage and give him a blowjob. I don't think they changed the lyrics like in this clip though. They and their music were pretty much unknown to the East coast audience in July of 1991 waiting to see Megadeth, Slayer and Anthrax, and therefore had to endure heckling from metal fans. Their performance made me buy their Facelift tape and made me a fan.

Can't anybody top that range and pipes. I hope he's singing for God, now.
@@jennifercaton9322 I can manage to sing that high and powerful, but I can't manage to control it as easily. He had the voice of a god. Hope he is singing for God too. What a voice, my lord!
@William Daniels. I hope someone's out there playing *MAD SEASON* covers ...some of Layne's best work.
A voice that will never ever be replaced even come close to layne forever
Oh god….if Layne Staley called me that….I’d definitely take it to heart and do some serious self-reflection 😧. He was a nice quiet guy from many accounts, so 🙃
Everyone has an inner bad ass that takes no shit...even nice, quiet people that get pushed too far. 🖤
My favorite vocal idol. May he rest in peace. I love u Layne. I wish we could have meet, u would have been 54. Rest up.
i could watch this the video every day for the rest of my life. LEGENDARY.
Thank you for posting this... I had seen the full version before but this is So GREAT!!!
Layne didn't take any SHIT,
That's for dam sure!!
Good to see it!
Wow, I’ve never seen this before. Layne actually gets off stage and goes around the corner looking for the guy.😎
Layne the braveheart, the noble stallion⚡💯⚡
yeah because he knew there wouldn't actually be a fight because of all the security lolz do you really think a 110 lb junkie is gonna fight someone
@@jimmyjameslee7189 Most "junkies" (though I prefer the term addict) have a reason to be able to fight.. scrawny or not. Most of us have had a rough life and learnt to protect ourselves by a young age. Also, Layne might've been skinny but his height made up for alot of that
@Justin sorry man I just believe it was an act he knew there was no way he was gonna fight someone love his music but just don't think he much of a fighter sorry but bad life style and fighting just doesn't go hand in hand working out and eating good food and fighting lessons help you fight not drugs love his music though
@@nelliesilvers1210 fair enough peace
That transition from the feed my eyes on the super high part to his normal twang! Jesus Christ, that's some control!
Some of the coolest rock history video I've seen in a long time.🤟
3:29 LOL Layne trying to show off his arm muscles 😂
XD
im screaming mike and sean were just along for the ride during this song LMAO
Just left his Unplugged and must say, it feels good to see the bad a** version of him.
Miss you Layne. R.I.P🌹
His bad ass version was very sexy.
I think this is the funniest thing I've ever seen. Mike can't believe it, Sean's cracking up. Jerry sings along. LOL 😆 🤣
Imagine how someone pissed him off, that he lost his temper that way... cuz he was a very nice guy actually.
from what i've read, i guess they were flipping him off non stop and yelling dumb shit
This Rules!!! Thanks for the upload!! Layne Had Mammoth Balls in this!!!
I love Cornell, Eddie and Kurt but 3:57 was INSANE! 🤟❤️
Cornell could probably go higher, but either way, layne’s great
@@kinematograficznie
Chris was my favorite rock dude. But even he wasn't as technically perfect as Layne. Layne was a once in a lifetime voice.
@@kat3871 you’re actually wrong, chris was better technically than layne, chris had his own personal vocal coach
But Layne didn't need to have one soooooo 😋
I'm from Brasil and i stay Very happy seeing as Layne was so cool, thanks for the especial video my friend.
o cara era foda mesmo
One of the best vocalists ever
Look at the crowd,my age group then,19,20 years old. Now we're all middle aged, getting gray, wrinkles, losing stamina, going through menopause and wearing sensible shoes, lol. Most importantly we are STILL grunging to AIC. Facelift album is my fav
Sean effortlessly looking like an Adonis behind the drumkit lol
This is the greatest thing ever.
Thank you so much for sharing 😁
4:57 starts beating his stick
Is Layne Staley a badass? Answer at 3:39.
Layne was such a bad ass here and every time he changed the lyric, Jerry just followed him and changed the backing lyric. Awesome!
yes he is a fucking bad ass 😎🤘
I really don’t understand what you were trying to point out at this time stamp…
@@anti-ethniccleansing465 he said “YEAHHH” answering the question lol
@@anti-ethniccleansing465 Really? I thought it was obvious.
I'd die for a version of this to come out with remastered audio
Without even trying, crushed it. Matter of fact, intentionally NOT trying, and crushing it. So much talent between Layne and jerry.
I can't express how aesthetic Layne is. He's quite like Prince in terms of being stylish and having so much sex appeal. Great artists. RIP LEGENDS!!! You both kicked ass and rocked the world and we miss you.
I think Prince was one of his favorite artists if I’m not mistaken
Layne's sex appeal was at level 10 in this video. He was very sexy before his addiction took over him so fully.
fucking aye dude he had a great sense of style, when i think of a badass wearing a leather jacket and shades, i think of Layne 😎
Best version of Man in the Box I've ever listened to. In the last "feed my eyes" Layne pushes his vocals even further than in the studio version. Goosebumping. Not to mention the hilarious change of lyrics and Jerry following suit. Simply unique, we miss you so much Layne and Mike.
💔💔💔
Incrível cara, conhecendo essa música só agora em 2023, to a dois dias só ouvindo ela.
From the first chords though that Jerry had a ridiculously massive live tone (which he had) only to realize it’s the bass that’s massive. Pretty epic bottom. Oh and Layne was in top form. What a band.
1:35 You can see him smile slightly as he notices Jerry getting in on it lmfaooo. RIP Layne man
Great video! Thanks for uploading it!
Sure thing as it is pleasure to post the vid of Layne x Jerry being hilarious improvising the lyrics of Man in The Box! Peace
miss Tembo I am watching it over and over. So satisfying. Many thanks again!!
@@sanbornnc I deeply appreciate this kind comment dear Jillian♡. You know Layne voice was so powerful and expressive, because he was actual suffering... I really wished transforming that suffering into art would have helped him! The wonderful human being Layne Staley made a lot of people go through their depression, feel better, discover the power of music.
Thank you so much for this! lmfao
Damn Sean Kinney is so underrated. His wobbly posture and loose but snappy wrists are a Joy to watch
IKR, it's like his whole body feels the rythm. I really think he is one of the best drummers of the grunge scene.
He solid as fuck.@@TheStepmonkey
Always good to see and hear Mike Starr and Layne Stayley. Jerry Cantrell and Sean Kinney too. Looking forward to Jerry’s new solo album.
👊👊
🧡Layne looks so handsome here
He always looked handsome wym
The most beautifully pronounced “сunt” of all times 😅
RIP Layne. Forever missed
Man i wish i couldve met him, such a big heart
So glad someone recorded this lmaoo! 🤣❤️
I hope their pillow is always cool and their beer always crispy 🤣
I like how Layne walked over there and waited for the guy.
They are one of the most incredible bands ever and they will be one of my favorites forever.
Amazing... Layne truly lived that life...
Omg this is priceless!!!! What a gem 💎 ✨️ 😍 💖 thank youuuuuuu !!! Love him, the band, and this song 🎵 ❤️ 💕 👏💥💯🥁🔥🔥🔥💌🥰
I saw them on this tour. Titans of rock. AIC was new to the scene then when grunge was breaking out. A lot of fans didn't like grunge or AIC. I love diversity in music. AIC had such a unique sound back then and really even now.
Good for him. Proved he wasn’t just a loud mouth singer with security. He left the stage and went right to where he said meet him.
Yea, I can't believe he followed through on his word there. Great video to depict his character- when he says it, he means it!
Looks to me like someone was talking him out of kicking the girls ass after the show lol
3:30 Layne: yea its about this big
I love the way he stood up right after saying “blow me”😂
And this is why Layne is the most badass frontman of this scene
Thanks to the d-bag who pissed Layne off and inadvertently inspired the greatest (3rd) chorus of “Man in the Box” ever. 😮
Never will there be a voice like that so magnificent
This is great. I grew up going to Weedsport for shows, worked at a couple there, and lived in town for a while also, still live nearby. Oddly enough, I was also living in Seattle near Layne when he died.
I can’t count how many times I’ve gotten drunk and listened to this. Love how Layne and Jerry jive in this!
Man he sounded great.
Yes, he did!
this is pure gold😂
although the audio is not great, he has me dying with the impromptu lyrics he and back up improvised 🤣🤣🤣
Could you please write down the changed lyrics? I'm italian and I struggle understanding what they're saying. I only got "blow me" and "can you suck my d*ck"
