Dude I am literally addicted to Baldur's Gate 3 right now, as well as your videos. Great mashup right here
Goddess Mielikki is Mielikki from Finnish mythology, Lady of the Forest, wife of the King of the Forest, Tapio. Hunters spoke and to her sang to her nice things and songs to make her happy to get game. She did the "house chores" of the forest, and while traveling in the forest, traveler should admire the beauty of her home and her visage. She also calmed down her husband if he was in a bad mood and sending maladies against the hunters.
She appears rarely to humans but when she does, she wears Tapio's beard moss cape and beard moss hat for fun. Onlooker sees a crazy old lady, walking in the forest, counting the berries. There she goes, tallying how much blueberries we will get this year.
Mielikki is a skillful healer. She nurses the paws of the animals, hurt from traps, baby birds dropped from their nests and the battle scars of male capercaillies. She collects all kinds of healing herbs, which can help humans if someone dares to go to ask for some. (translation from Wikipedia)
Lovitar is also from Finnish mythology! The sister of iku turso
Amazing video! Your style of explanation is wondrous and enthralling.
Awesome, I just bought BG3 and never played a BG before. It's a very interesting and complex game. The religion/spiritual worship aspect of the game was well thought out and designed. You always bring great content FoL, thanks as always.
Very well researched!
didnt think i could like your channel to a greater extent. Now find out youre a bg fan! great work once agan
Good video thank you for making
Very interesting and informative 😊
I used to play the old game, i miss it. Thanks for this fascinating take
I feel like playing baldurs gate with you would be the best playthrough ever lol
Thank you for the video 👍🏻 Many books, movies, TV shows and games take a lot of the existing different cultures mythologies and spin it into something new or mix it together anyway that's obviously bad. I like when it's historically accurate with a good storyline wellbeing still entertaining
Thanks great video
Ilmater is my patron deity in the game. He is obviously inspired by Jesus Christ.
Cringe 🤦♂️
Finnish deity
@@guaporeturns9472Why?
@@kroneexe Of all the cool deities on earth you choose the lamest one ever.

It would be cool to see you do a video on elves one day if you ever have the time?
I wonder if this is why the coat of arms for Riley have a cut off bleeding hand on it?
It may be. There is also the Red Hand of Ulster, though that may be tied to legendary Lugaid Lamderg (redhand)
Happy day 😊😊😊
The business of Cultural Repair is greatly aided by your enthusiasm and research. Many Blessings! 😇
Lugh's Soul in the House!⚡❤️⚡
Great video as always! Have you ever tried Planescape Torment? It's interesting and odd to find a game about reincarnation and free choice
Yes I have
@@FortressofLugh I can see you are a man of culture as well
@@FortressofLugh please make a history mythology meaning video all about Giants please
I LOVE this game SO MUCH. Hey, just watched your Yule special, I’m also Christian btw but free thinking I’d say, anyway, Christmas really mimicks the old nimrod tale with Ishtar etc.
The highest gods of Indo-Europeans by Dumezil explained Tyr and his role as lawyer very well
Miniature Giant Space Hamsters were once worshipped as gods, at least according to Minsc.
I played baldur's gate Xbox version. It was awesome I love bioware. KOTOR, Jade Empire, Dragon age, etc. Awesome vid. 🙌
Can you tell me the name of music when you described Tyr? 14:45
Baldurs gate was amazing, and dark alliance 1&2

Not sure if you heard of these games but do you think you can talk about the games Ico, Shadow of the colossus and the Last guardian?
I feel like those games take a lot of influences from Indo-European mythology due to how culturally grounded yet mythological the games feel.
Got info on marine type people ? I hear there are several types . Tiamit lyes in N. Africa .
Great video, thanks! I love it when some of my favourite interests come together! Regarding Bahamut, I was wondering if it is related to Baphomet, the deity (erroneously) thought to have been worshipped by the Templars. Do you know anything about that?
Bahamut is from Islamic Mythology.
@@lavalavaisola6071 yeah I know that. What I am curious about is whether it has anything to do with the Baphomet of the Templars. I’m guessing yes, but I would like an expert’s opinion.
@@gymnosophist7471 The Baphomet is not a physical god, according to the esoteric and occult communities, but an alchemichal symbol full of allegories. Many theorize it derives from the Gnostic Aeon Sophia.
I has nothing to do with the Islamic Bahamut, who is a fish that holds the Earth,
So many weeks lost this realm!
I play a cleric of Bahamut in my friend's dnd game and I've always wondered why Fantasy Bahamut is so different from historical Bahamut! It's that way in Final Fantasy too, but I assume that's because they ripped it off from dnd.
based video, i love you even more Kevin. Hail victory brother
Idk why I was expecting to see Moradin
Maratha empire history please make video
Damn, hoped for a breakdown of Cyric 😂

Interesting. The Romanian word for water is apă
Why do the norse and celts associate poetry and arts with warrior gods? Is it because of heroic tales about war being told?
It's because ANY man can kill another. But only great minds can create great art (poetry, writing); so it's an idealized man. Great warrior + great poet > just another killer
Bro I thought you'd have a beard
Baal durs gate !
I thought I was the only one that saw "Difficult Master".
As in, not saw a movie or anything, but I actually had a weird realization, searched back through languages back to earliest sources. "Dur" meaning difficult in almost every language, and "Bal" meaning lord or master.
Baldur
Bal Dur
Difficult Master

I don't really understand the problem with the body types thing. Is it that there's not enough of them or something? Like it only gives you the option for short/tall for 2 sexes, instead of more indepth customization options for the body?
what the fuck is body type? it should be male 1,2, female 1,2, if you don't get that there's no helping you
there is a very small subset of people who are trans, and furthermore, historically these people would have been ostracized. liberal politics has no place in life. its anti-life in fact
What is the real ?
The real mythology

4:49: 🐉 The video discusses the mythology of Tiamat, a goddess of the Earthly Waters and a primary driver in the Dragonlance campaign world storyline.
9:58: 📚 Ogma, the Lord of Knowledge in Forgotten Realms, is a patron of bards and passes judgment on new ideas and inventions.
14:18: 📚 The video discusses the confusion and incomplete sources in Celtic mythology, the different conceptions of gods between the Celtic and Greek/Roman cultures, and the portrayal of the god Tear in DND as blind.
18:50: 📚 The video discusses the origins and symbolism of various gods in mythology, including the loss of hand as a common injury in ancient battles and the different roles of Tear and Zeus.
Recap by Tammy AI
Wow, the choice of body type, what a shock! How can we live now if anyone can be anyone they want in a fantasy game? Pathetic complaint.
Agreed
0:48 Not going to get into it, just comment vaguely to start trouble.
yeah I was very confused as to the motivations there
hahahaha so many liberals who love "paganism" and "fantasy" because they have listened to liberal propaganda about it are surprised when an expert shatters your hopes and dreams for inclusion. Guess what? You people are on the wrong side of history. This liberal sickness will be a blip in the history books, but its been a bloody and damned crazy one. @@eg_manifest510
@@user-bt4ce3xn9e, What the heck are you talking about? you're making yourself look like a big, dumb madman now...
Pretty sure the appearance thing is for inclusivity regarding trans-gender and non-binary people. Didn't play the game though, so don't know how it actually works. I'd assume 1 is typical male-presenting body and 4 is typical female-presenting body, while 2 and 3 are the in between states. If so, it seems simple enough?
According to the website TheMarySue on Baldurs Gate 3 body types:
Baldur’s Gate 3 allows you to go beyond the standard “pick a gender” options most games stick with, and instead lets you choose which “body type” you’re most comfortable with instead. There are four options: 1 and 2 are traditionally “male and female” presenting from the top up, and 3 and 4 are the same, but buffer. You can then choose any voice you’d like from a preset of 8, as well as what pronouns you’d prefer your character to be referred to with (nonbinary is an option, which is amazing!). And, finally, you can choose what set of genitalia you’d like your character to have.
So just wondering, does this channel have a problem with game being gender non-conforming inclusive or just the lack of clear direction there?
Interesting! I'd guess it's just that our man hasn't kept up with the times, and thus isn't aware of the significance, hopefully, right? haha@@Visual_Lies
Duh, that's the problem
I know 1/2 are male/female small, then 3/4 are taller male/female. But there are options to do that stuff you were talking about.
There is no such thing as "male-presenting" or "female-presenting", don't act clueless and like what you are saying is not delusional.

Admittedly, your thoughts are better than I expected, but far from ideal.
Let's go through your case, in order. I'll point out my issues.
Your story about "violent drug offenders" is not true and you are knowingly lying. Most drug charges are small possession. If what you claim was true, the most common charges wouldn't be F4s and F5s.
What you shouldn't said was "Since the drugs are already illegal, it's less of a jump to commit other crimes"
Your claim that "they got into counseling while in county" is LAUGHABLE!😂 Which county?!? Certainly not Franklin!
That is the point of decriminalization. Treatment, not jail. But your story stops too early. Yes, they look great, got clean in jail, etc. But then they can't find an apartment that will lease to them, except in a place full of dealers and hookers and ACTUAL violent criminals. Eventually, their family (if they have one) will grow tired of supporting them. They will need to find a job, fresh out of prison, with a recent set of charges on their background check. Or maybe they had a job already, but lost it because they didn't show up to work for a week and weren't able to even call while they were in jail. So now ACTUAL crime seems like their only option to support themselves. Once you enter the world of crime, the drugs are right there waiting (because they are illegal, they are found in the violent crime world)
In the end, the arguement that you seem to avoid is the fact that the War on Drugs has not reduced drug usage, nor drug addiction. So why should we keep funding something that doesn't work? It's a waste of our tax dollars.
Muh taxes...
Not like this, bro.
Honestly so glad to see some Celtic gods in DnD. They're a fun spin on the true stories. Right now I'm playing a cleric of Oghma :D
