      Most of the subtitles look accurate, but when you use idiomatic expressions or new slang, there are some errors. For example, when you said at 1:58 “It’s so hard,” the subs said 「大変だった」 which means something like, “it was very difficult/taxing/a lot of work (etc.).”
      Yup… and here is another glaring error (due to the AI translator’s weakness at translating idioms) at 11:06 - “She’s about to call off the whole thing,” turned into “she’s gonna hang up the phone… everything” 「彼女は電話を切るつもりだ。全部」 LOL

    One of the essential episodes of this season. Highlights the exact process that comes with the line of work and the reality of why many manga/anime adaptations get cancelled and/or reworked entirely. It's not just a "Studio" or "Brand" issue. People legit lose jobs, get replaced, and have to figure out what to do to actually survive behind the scene. Shoutout to Goa because from a editorial/writer's standpoint, it must have been the cruelest thing to happen, all because the levels of communication that happens outside his control. This is pure anime industry education at its finest!

      I wish Shirobako got this level of popularity so that those anime fans who complain of animation delays know how exactly an anime is made behind the scenes.

    Yes, "talk directly" is the best way to do. But yeah, Abiko Sensei is a "WEEKLY" manga author, maybe she's busy with drawing, colouring, and other bussiness related to her works like merchandise etc. And if it's like that, there's no jobs for editor, producer, manager, etc 😄
    But we hope both of them really can talk directly in the future (next episodes)

    the way i see it, their feelings are both valid, but it's basically like an architect and an engineer working on a project, and the architect says to the engineer that it's not entirely accurate to the plan, so she tries to do it herself while not knowing the basics of engineering because she herself only studied architecture.

    • @FreshestAnime
      @FreshestAnime  3 месяца назад +9

      except the architect and enginneer never directly communicated with one another. But yeah, the mangaka definitely wont be able to adapt their story for the stage because they don't know how to do that as they don't write stageplays.

      Yes, but Watsuki wasn't his main manga master.
      Oda spent his early days as assistant for Masaya Tokuhiro on Jungle Emperor Taachan, which had a huge impact on Oda. Taachan ran in Jump for seven years and has a TV anime adaptation as well.
      Unfortunately it's completely unknown in the west, but my generation of Japanese grew up familiar with the manga.
      It was a parody of Tarzan, married to an obese woman, with tons of toilet humor.

      From what I've seen online Oda had a lot of involvement with the live action. Oda probably has enough power/influence to affect the story similar to Abiko sensei.
      Though I'm sure Oda is probably a lot more sociable than her so obviously and in my biased opinion I think it's one of the best live action adaptations too actually.

    Thank you for the Japanese subtitles.
    In my environment, perhaps due to my configuration, only "The Elusive Samurai" and "Oshi no Ko OP&ED" had Japanese subtitles available. "My Deer Friend" and "Oshi no Ko ep1" did not have Japanese subtitles. I tried watching this video and "The Elusive Samurai" with Japanese subtitles, and it seemed good.
    However, since the English title is "The Elusive Samurai," the video title is displayed in Japanese as "つかみどころのない侍." The actual Japanese title is "逃げ上手の若君," so if you only know the Japanese title, you might not understand what "つかみどころのない侍" means. The Japanese title, when translated directly, is something like "The Young Lord Who Is Great at Running Away." Elusive has a similar meaning, but "つかみどころのない" means "hard to grasp."
    I hope this information is helpful.

      we will be adding subtitles to OnK and Nokotan ep 1 soon. The new episodes will have the subtitles within an hour of posting the episode. The subtitles are AI generated because the alternative of having someone directly translate it would take much longer and I would have to pay them, but currently the video revenue on RUclips doesn't even cover editing costs so that would be operating at a further loss.

Man was killing himself putting everything into his work bc he loved the manga so much, just to have the author call your work trash and say you have no creative talent. I can't imagine having an idol of yours say something like that to you, that would just absolutely kill me. #justiceforgoa

    From my point of view, the screenwriter, Gao is at fault, just like the way Abiko accused him. Gao declared that he had read the source, but he does not defend it. He just follows what the producer tells him to do. To proof my point, Akane realized the characters were not true to the source and brought it up with the producer and Gao. They told her it can't be done. See, they want their version, not Abiko's version. When Abiko raised the same issue that Akane did, they can't say no to her.

    • @wasde7342

      The job of the screenwriter isn't just making sure that the adaptation is faithful to the source material, but also to ensure that it can work in the form of a stage play. In that very same conversation with Akane, Goa explained the reason why changes, significant changes at that, inevitability has to be made due to the difference of mediums between manga and plays while also making sure the story is cohesive and 'stands as it's own'. Considering this, it isn't entirely Goa's fault because what he did to the script is to ensure that the story can work in the form of a 2 hour play, and that is where the conflict comes into play as Abiko is only concerned about making sure that her creative vison is realized, even if said creative vision is informed by the manga itself, without considering why these changes are made. She asserts that her vision is right and that Goa's vision is wrong, which is fair because she wrote the source material, but also being ignorant and stubborn at the same time, as she is not a script-writer, but a mangaka. As the episode said, adaptations like this are a manner of give and take for both parties, and not solely limited by the idea that one is at fault and one isn't. No one wants to create a lesser piece of art.
      Simply put, both parties are at fault and share equal responsibility in such a situation, not just Goa. The changes Goa made to the story and characters aren't just him listening to what the producers want, but actually reasonable decisions when one considers the differences in mediums between manga and play. Abiko doesn't like these changes, for good reason, but also at the same time is refusing any compromise when it comes to how the script is written. She is only focused with it being faithful to the source material without having the same understanding of stage plays that Goa has, leading to this conflict of creative visions. It is therefore the responsibility of both parties to communicate and come to a mutual common-ground, one which both satisfies the original source material while also having it work as a stage-play.

    • @nicolev990
      @nicolev990 3 месяца назад +12

      And your point of view is wrong. If they tried to fit every bit of nuance the original characters had, it would be way too long to sit through and still wouldn’t be completely understandable in the play setting. Goa understands how to convert the source material into an interesting play while Abiko does not. He tried to incorporate her feedback into the script, but with how vague it is after going through several people, it’s had to understand what changes she wants made and only angered her more. At the end of the day, one is a manga writer while the other is a script writer, there are major differences.

And remember the game of telephone they had when passing down Abiko's criticisms? He saw a watered down version of it. Which is why, down the line, they thought what they did was correct, but from the start of the line, Abiko, does not recognize it as her work anymore. Again, game of telephone.

      @@AnAnAnanannn227to defend abiko, a lot of manga authors are usually sheltered and since abiko is doing a weekly manga she is way too busy to be able to practice any social skills and will continually stay sheltered in her office to work on her manga. However she does have some awareness (ex. Double brushes to make sure she doesn’t waste too much time). Honestly, if I was in her position, constantly suggesting changes just for the production to not listen, I’d be mad too. Obviously I’d be more professional. But again, Abiko is a very young manga artist and her brain isn’t fully developed yet, so it makes sense for her to lash out at people.
