I always thought precision was rarely touched by people because it was borderline impossible to play until I tried learning precision and realised just how few people even attempt it. I went from struggling to play cs5 to being able to comfortably play cs8 in about a week of trying, and I realised that because nobody tries to learn anything higher than cs5 typically, people don't realise that upwards of cs7 is easy to pick up in just a few hours of trying. There's so much untapped potential in precision because nobody tries learning it and I hope it gets a buff soon
There's also very few maps that are well mapped for it as well, just taking already made maps doesn't work the best since the sliders can get way out of hand at higher CS. There's also no incentives, no attention, no pp, not even tournament skills since that ends at CS6.5. Here's to hoping for a better future in precision!
Im currently rank 32 precision and picked it up just a few months ago after seeing a video by Willy. Its a really fun skillset that i hope this great video makes more people pick up! Sadly i currently lack the mechanical skill to poke at mortal but hopefully i can reach the top 10 in the foreseeable future!

I mean, when you actually think about it the jumps with high cs are way way "further" than the same jump with lower cs. I really think they should be treated as such because it would actually give top players and mappers incentive to make insane low cs jump maps.

But I got to say that the osu skills Ranking itself is pretty biased in precision, since 1* cs 9 1 minute maps are worth more than 7* 4 min CS 6.5 maps. I for example am rank 42k in general and 600 on the precision ranking, even over players like Umbre who specialize in lower (not super low though) CS maps Edit: Obviously Mortal is still an insane player and maybe the/one if the best precision player
Yeah I see a lot of people abusing HTHR to get really high scores where HR alone would give them the same score. Though with mortal it seems that there isn't really this cheese in his plays
I love precision, it is such an underrated skillset. Regarding PP, I think it's very hard to balance. The circle size was originally not considered at all, because if you think about it, spacing and CS are both the same thing. Take a CS4 map, turn it into CS10 and scale the whole map down by a factor 0.26 and you'll get the exact same map (the aim requirement is the exact same, if you increase your tablet area / decrease your sensitivity by the same 0.26 factor, you would play the map the exact same way). Like this, you can turn any map into a standardized CS and compute the aim values without introducing an arbitrary CS-related difficulty scaling factor. I think it was a very legitimate way of doing such calculation (being CS-agnostic makes it more objective), however there are some issues - you can't buff precision directly : if you buff CS, you'll have to buff spacing at the same time (and the reworks of the last years tend to nerf spacing, so high CS got nerfed as well). - exceptions aside, players usually have a relatively small area for high-CS, requiring good cursor control to even stay still on a small circle. High-CS aim is a very different kind of aim compared to traditional jump aim and I believe they should be computed accordingly. After community feedback, a slight buff to high CS was added to the current PP formula, basically scaling up the original aim value. Right now, if you do the CS4 to CS10 scaling thing, the higher CS version of the map will actually have a higher star rating and be worth more PP even though both version are practically the same.
Well whitecat was being approached my mrekk those final few days, his streak ended at least. Mrekk's number 1 streak shows no signs of stopping, and I'd almost be surprised if someone managed to overtake it before late 2023

For some reason people around my rank range ( witch is 300k average) struggle with even cs 5 while i can aim it pretty comfortably
happens no matter what rank, kinda sucks that precision usually only goes to CS6.5 in tournaments even at the highest level

I just used to create CS8 diffs for some maps I liked to play to get myself to aim more precisely.
I have so many CS7 diffs I made of different maps lol, I went on to make a couple precision maps of my own (they're bad)
