Sonicstate just gets things spot on. I used to buy the Barry Gray records and they have a special place in my vinyl collection. Between Barry Gray & those strange puppets, the BBC Radiophonic Workshop & Dr Who, it was inevitable that I would become a sythesiser fanatic. Thank you guys for bringing this to us, I live toooo far away to attend such events so really appreciate this sort of thing.

Barry Gray was brilliant. His sound track for Doppleganger was world class and Space:1999's music was superb.

This vid and the Beeb programme is FAB, not least because of Charles Hazlewood. His was not a name I had heard of until he appeared once or twice in another Beeb documentary, The Joy of ABBA, in which his enthusiasm for the group - and a couple of songs in particular - shone. So I went and plugged his name into youtube, and 3rd on the list is this vid where it turns out he's also a huge Thunderbirds fan, and a fan of Barry Gray and the music that helped make Gerry Anderson's creation.
Never was my gob so smacked nor my flabber so ghasted. My sincere thanks to the OP and to the BBC for doing this, and especially to Mr. Hazlewood (any relation to Ronnie?).

What an amazing concert that was. I spent the whole performance with a huge grin on my face as childhood flashbacks came flooding back. Amazing musicianship, kitsch and glorious and I loved meeting Jarvis in the bar afterwards - happy days :)
Such a bonus to get to watch your little film and hear more about the Ondes Martenot and Swarmatron - thank you! x

The Silicates creature effect from the film " Island of Terror " I think was played by the Ondes Martenot .I am trying to work it out with the VST plugin .It has the tones but exactly how it is implemented is a challenge .Many good and interesting sounds from the instrument .

These where the programs that were re-run during the early 80s sporadically on bbc 2 when I was a kid, I never seemed to be able to catch a full episode, the music was either brash or enchanting with weird chiselled puppets. I knew I wanted to watch them though, unfortunately only the music stood the test of time.

Maybe someone like UVI can sample the Ondes Martenot. Paired with a Role Seaboard RISE you could get the vibrato and ribbon functionality. That's about as close as most of us will get to this fantastic instrument.
