Don't forget post-cleaning too! With all that work might as well just clean it regularly. I'm not taking the risk of burning the house down to clean some stains.
We have a free standing double self cleaning gas model. I've never really been satisfied with the self cleaning outcomes. The last time I used this feature it ruined the thermostat. I had a repair person come out to install a new thermostat. We live 40 minutes from the nearest town that offers repairs. He said to never use that feature again. It's sales ploy to sell more pricy ovens. The newer oven's aren't able to tolerate the high heats needed for self cleaning. Years ago I had a self cleaning oven that cremated everything into a fine, easy to wipe out powder.

LOL The first time I tried the self-cleaning method of my then 5 month old Whirlpool wall oven, the door would not unlock at the end of the cleaning cycle. The next day I had to call a service tech to unlock the oven door. He had a hard time getting it unlocked and removed one part that's still sitting on my counter. Assuming that this fixed the problem one YEAR later, I tried to self-clean the oven again. You guessed it. Again, the door would not unlock. By now the warranty had expired and I had to call service again. The part that allegedly was at fault was removed and is sitting next to the previous one on the counter. Don't really know why I'm keeping them! Tech guy suggested never to use the self-cleaning feature again. So today, a few years later I'm getting ready to clean the oven the old-fashioned way using a spray type cleaner. The oven is not very dirty but I like it when it's shiny. My question now is, how to clean the top inside the oven underneath the heating elements. Can the heating elements lifted or tilted down so as to be able to clean the surface? Inquiring minds would like to know.😂
I have a Whirlpool and this is how I steam cleaned it. I steam cleaned it 5 days in a row. My son made a pizza and the pizza pan had small holes on the bottom. Cheese and fat from the pepperoni's left big clack burn marks on the bottom. I have a plastic paint scraper that is blunt. I put distilled water in the water well. It cleaned for one hour. I let the water cool and gently used the blunt scraper to help loosen the debris on the bottom of the stove. Progress was slow but I saw a difference. I am retired so I have plenty of time to attend to the stove problem. I did this day by day and every day the debris loosened up more. Today was my last day and my stove looks like new, no scratch marks anywhere. Rule of thumb is if it took 6 months of use before you clean it, section the cleaning up into days and just make it a priority every day and you will see results. I find with my Whirlpool that the temp never gets high enough to successfully clean the oven. The sides of the oven wipe down easily but the bottom is where the problem is in most cases. For this reason I will never purchase a steam cleaning oven again. My whirlpool is low end. There is no other option for self cleaning on my oven. No menu system, just a button that says steam clean with no options.

Hello, katerkate! Thank you for reaching out. This is a great question! If the racks are left inside of the oven during a cleaning cycle the coating could come off. This could potentially cause the racks to rust. We hope this helps! -Justine
Hi Barbara! If the hard reset did not correct the issue, the unit will require service. Let us know if you need us to arrange that service for you! Kind regards! ~ Angie
I'm about to try this and it's scaring me to death 😂 Hope my apt doesn't burn down. The thing about fumes killing birds doesn't make me happy either, that's how miners knew their mines were full of carbon monoxide. But good warning nonetheless. I'll open all windows before running this thing. Wish me luck everyone. If I didn't check back in in a couple hours, it's because I'm dead.
I have the same oven 2023. I just had the man come out today to check my oven because the self clean was not working as I thought it should I made a pie and the juices spilt in the back I turned on the self clean and it doesn’t even get hot!!!The technician tells me that that particular oven whirlpool oven will only heat between 200 - 250 degrees self clean!! you have to run self clean more than once to get off the cake on food it’s not even worth it. I paid almost $2500 for the stove and it self clean does not even work. They give you a blue plastic scraper and some sort of Brillo pad that does not even work. I’m better off using oven cleaner to clean the stove, then scrape all this caked on food from an oven. That does not do what it’s designed to do!!!It’s just a waste of money!!! FUC* THIS VIDEO!!! It’s all lies!!!
Not really self cleaning when you have to pre clean it for 30min now is it?
Bro when I tell you I spit my water out laughing 😂
I am also very high lol

You're not fully appreciating the tremendous sales boost it has putting "self cleaning" on the panel. lol

Just throw some bar keepers friend on it, let it sit, and scrape it off. One time, one day.
POV: your here after the Turkey was smoking in the oven on thanksgiving
PS I loved the self-cleaning method it worked beautifully, the problem was the unlocking of the door.
Name of Music in video?
Thanks a lot, the information is really Important
Our brand new Whirlpool Gold Series oven had a dirty oily residue inside our oven - not impressed
in the instructions it says clearly no cleaning agent, and she uses window cleaner here
anyone used the steam method? Wondering how much steam is vented during the clean
My oven completed the clean cycle and now won’t open/work. Any ideas??

Why does my oven keep beeping
Me too
Which model is this?
I tried to cancel the self cleaning and it won't do it. It says HOT and clean below it. What does that mean? I can't cancel it??
It just unlocked. Whew!
It will only unlock until the inside is warm to the touch, Bev! Thank you! -Max
Lmao how many times have pet birds been killed by oven fumes
My aunt is asking why do you have to take the racks out

Can I throw the range top burners in while self-cleaning?
Hi GramPapnedrac! No we do not recommend putting the burners in the oven to prevent damaging them. Kind regards! Angie
The cycle has been off for 3 hours and I still can't get the door open. What to do?
Hi Barbara! If the hard reset did not correct the issue, the unit will require service. Let us know if you need us to arrange that service for you! Kind regards! ~ Angie
Legend has it her oven door is locked to this day
Unplug oven, mine then unlocked
Did the door open yet?
