    Y'all do a most excellent job of quarantining/ acclimating, especially for the more persnickety species. Otos, for example, are collected by the.many thousands and treated as a disposable product. You approach species as a unique entity. That means sometimes they aren't affordable forme but the three shipments have been flawless and another is being budgeted for.

    Hi Dan, what water parameters do you keep your wild caught South American fish in? Thanks

    Hi Dan, greetings from Ireland. I have been breeding pencils for few years already and got these new variants recently as well. All I can say, the wholesalers are only sending the males. I can confirm by looking at your cenepa and Amaya tank that you don’t have any females either. It’s so difficult to get and identify the females as they are sisters with red coral pencilfish.
    Have you had the chance to notice this with your fish or have you ever chatted about it with your wholesaler?

    • @DansFish

      Yep, ours seem very male heavy for sure

      I wish supplies would not only sell one sex to other people in the hobby. They do this so only they can have the market on selling them. Myself I would never buy from sellers that do it on purpose and that amount of fish to not have a female is on purpose by seller. Dan I been watching some videos from you as well as that 3 hour tour someone else made about your shop. You're an amazing seller and your love and passion for the hobby shows! Wish nothing but happiness to you and your family and shop.

      They were selling Strawberry peacocks at Petco. They are female dragonblood (Aulonocara) peacocks. I bought one for $5 not knowing what it was and I went back later and saw that it was a tank of females but I saw one male.
      I explained to the Petco girl that I wanted that one male and another female. Well she netted three fish and I was a little confused but I took the three. Turns out she found two males so now I had two of each. Fast forward to the present and I sold/donated the two males to LFS and I have about 50 babies:)

    Rumors are that Cenepa and Amaya pencils have nothing to do with those localities. They are used as a conventional labels so as to hide the true location of the fish. If that's true, it's probably a good idea.

    I’ve bought 40+ Super Red Cenepa Pencilfish and got 1 female…. Lol Needless to say I’m in dire need of at least 2 more. Do you have any female Cenepa? They should have no color at all.

    • @Pixellance
      @Pixellance Год назад +2

      Impossible to find females at the moment and no clear identification yet except they should have no red on tails and dorsal fins . By looking at the video, Dan doesn’t have any females ( as far as I can see )

    • @DansFish
      @DansFish  Год назад +1
