The entire original cast was returning. Then we saw set designs, the X-wings, The Falcon, and puppets Jim Henson would be proud of. Then the first teaser dropped and the naysayers were briefly quieted before going after Kylo Ren's lightsaber and Finn. Then this teaser came out and all the naysayers went "We give up! This looks awesome!"
Love the crowd reaction. My ONLY prediction, though is the shot of R-2 and Luke looking at the fire. Somehow I get the impression that it's a funeral pyre, And, If rumors are true, it's Han's pyre! I guess we will find out in December.
This is DEFINITELY THE BEST REACTION TO THIS TRAILER EVER!!!!!!! I absolutely loved how the crowed suddenly went dead quiet when someone said "Chewie" And then Han Solo popped up and said, "We're home", The crowd went fricken bonkers! Exactly how I reacted. I had actual tears in my eyes! Can't believe a trailer made me do that. I think it was just the character is so loved by so many people. Can you imagine what it would have been like if Harrison died in that plane crash and then seeing him back on screen? That would have been literally heartbreaking.

SEVEN YEARS LATER i'm still coming back to these... i miss being so utterly amazed by Episode 7. It was the best continuation we could ever wish for. We were filled with excitement and hope for the rest of the trilogy but then they ruined all of it. What a disgrace

There's a whole digital collection pick that up (not even sure if it's out yet) and watch the movies. They are AMAZING. I wasn't born until the 90s and I got so lost and interested in the Star Wars universe as a kid and just enjoyed watching the movies over and over. It was a great experience :)
The music in this trailer...moves me to tears!! I come bacc to these trailers, to relive the hype...for a trilogy that let me down so bad. All the potential for a great ending to the Skywalker saga. No direction or clue on how to do Star Wars. A shame.

The kinds released on VHS up until 1995 were the original releases of the original movies, and the 2006 DVD releases. Anything else, is the "Special Edition" versions with added CGI that wasn't there originally. Pick the versions to watch. ;)

Good news is that Bad Robot and its desciples are losing projects left and right. All it cost was destroying so many great stories, so many worlds. I rue the day Bad Robot ceases to exist.
I know everyone wanted Luke, Han, and Leia to reunite for one last adventure, or even just one last scene… but how would that have worked? how would it not have hampered the rest of the characters, and the overall plot? I liked the way each of the original three got (or would have, in Leia’s case) a movie to play the mentor role, and even Han’s death wasn’t without meaning… the only thing I’d change is just keep Luke alive at the end of _Ep VIII,_ and give him a bigger role in _Ep IX,_ in lieu of Leia 🤷🏻♂️

Shouldn't he be around to help out our young heros? I know he'd be old, but so is fuck nut Luke who is probably off his rocker by now. Also shoehorning a Black kid and a Latino as our main protagonists is cringe worthy. Gotta appease the cry baby crowd full of politically correct toxic. This isn't Star Wars. In JJ I'll never trust. #TeamLucas

Just when I thought I was over SW, then this damn trailer comes out and its got decent eye candy but Hamills voiceover and then at the end old Solo pops up. I don't know what made me tear up more revisiting something that played so heavily a part of my childhood or hearing the excitement from the crowd upon seeing Harrison Ford.
That Star Destroyer at the beginning is a remnant of an original opening JJ had scripted but got scrapped for various reasons, where we see an opening similar to the original Star Wars, but this time (when the camera changes angles) we see that it is being towed by other ships and then deposited on this planet (like it's a junk heap).
