    After seeing how well they performed on our Hurricane Creek run, my buddy John and I have tentatively decided to take our CT125s on the TAT. So I've gone ahead and installed some accessories.

    Our next mission will be the Smokey Mountain 500 for a shakedown to see if we have all the gear we need and to see how they perform fully loaded up. That'll be the final test. If it's miserable - we still might switch the Himalayans.
    USB INSTALLATION:
    I got it from WeBike. At the time I thought the US bikes would come with the quick connect. I recommend finding something in the US.

    Open up the headlight case, you’ll see a black plastic connector - take that apart. There are three wires. Shove the ‘hot’ wire from the usb unit into the connector where the yellow and black wire goes and force the connector back together. Not elegant but it works.

    Here’s what I paid.

    FRONT RACK AND HEADLIGHT COVER INSTALLATION
    Pretty straightforward but awkward to get the spacers in and balance it all until you can get a bolt in.
    TAIL LIGHT GUARD INSTALLATION
    The only thing I needed to take apart was the three bolts on the inside of the fender that holds the license plate holder. Then you take off the reflector (and I guess toss it because I don’t see how to put it back) and the rest is pretty self-explanatory.
    CRASH GUARD INSTALLATION
    Don’t put the center rack on first (like I did). You have to completely take the black plastic triangle piece off the bike. First, remove the existing crash bar bolts from the smash plate, then take out all the bolts from the plastic triangle piece. Then just lower it off the bike. Be careful with the silver bracket thing - it will bend and cause all sorts of trouble putting things back together. Attach the new crash guards with it out like that. Then put it all back. There’s also a black plastic cover under there - there are four of the plastic pop pin things that come off to remove it.
    POWER PIGTAIL INSTALLATION
    • Trail125 pigtail install
    This was more of a pain in the ass than it should have been. Just note that the nuts inside the battery terminals move - and you have to find a way to keep them up toward the side where the bolt goes in to have any chance of catching the thread. When you add the o-ring from the pigtail - it adds just enough space to keep the bolt from reaching the nut. I used a piece of wire to keep the nut toward the bolt until I got it started. It was a pain.
    And be careful with all the plastic. See the video - there's a little tab that loves to snap off.
    APACHE CHARGING CASE:
    I emailed Sterling Noren from Motorcycle Travel Channel for some advice on how he keeps his drone and laptop charged when traveling and tent camping. He was nice enough to give me some tips.

    I'm starting to save for one of these to be my first motorcycle next spring. Great to start seeing more content coming that's more than just the basic overview stuff. Want to use mine as a daily driver to and from the office and hopefully be able to squeeze it in my Xterra for camping trips. Great content!

    If you haven’t done it yet, sheepskin on the seat, hand guards and folding mirrors on your handle bars, windscreen and leg shields will help keep you from getting as wet and fatigued from rain and wind.

    Sheep skin makes seats super comfortable and unlike what you’d think the fur keeps you cool because air can pass through it.

    USB port is exactly how you should wire it up. It will only work when the engine is running and that is how you want it. Don't have to worry about a switch to turn on or off. That is how I wired mine up, works great.....

    Cool to hear you guys are leaning towards the TAT. The footage you both have shared makes me want a CT even more (months away according to the dealers I've spoken to). I'm not familiar with the whole TAT trail, but I grew up driving and riding in the Utah back country, and wouldn't...and won't...hesitate to take that bike on an adventure. I wrote off all the headlight guards I've seen until I saw your crash. Took forward to seeing more.

    Ghost Town Living uses a drone that auto follows, he uses it when he rides his dirtbike in the mountains. Could replace the helmet cam

    EBay 7999 delivered is made specific For the C T1 25 trail is a indicator for what gear you're in and it hooks right up with its own plate right underneath the speedometer speedometer it's really cool I ordered mine I'll have mine in about 3 or 4 weeks come from Thailand but you don't have to cut any wires it just plugs right in it's made specifically for that bike so it doesn't have to be spliced or anything

    Whoa! You got a freaking awesome deal on your accessories. I spent double or triple that buying from Ebay or Webike. I knew they were robbing us just because they can since there are no distributors yet in the USA. Thanks for the tip. For hard falls the muffler guard and Gcraft shift guide (prevents the shifting shaft from bending maybe) are worthy additions. Your bike looks great. Very cool bear 🐻 footage.Concur 100% on that seat. Honda blew it on that, which I don't get since they hit it out the park with the Monkey seat as it is pluuuushhh. I had a CT90 oem Honda seat that was way more comfortable than this but after looking at the underside of the two seat pans they did not match up correctly old style vs this one. Plus you'd lose the locking feature. Without that might wake up to a fuel thief sucking out the precious petrol... After market strap on deals might be an option, but they might make the butt be even less stable on the toilet seat if you are leaning on turns etc...? Just a thought. Great episode 👍...

      Yeah I sat on a Monkey in the dealership before I bought my CT125 and it was so freaking comfy. I keep thinking maybe the seat will break in - but I'm at about 450 miles now - so I'm not sure that's happening. I saw somewhere that someone took it to an upholstery shop and had some sort of gel pad installed. Yup, a muffler guard sounds like a good idea... I think both my falls were to that side - I'm surprised the exhaust didn't get screwed up already. Thx for the tips!

      @@SomeGuyRides I'm just over 700 miles and its maybe gotten softer by 1%. I think Spydie got one of those aftermarket seats you see on Ebay and said it was not any better comfort wise. Upholstery shop probably is the only solution. That muffler guard is an easy install as well. One more easy cheap upgrade is the Kitaco handlebar cross brace. It reinforces the tiny handlebars and may help prevent them from bending as easy on a fall while at the same time helping with the buzzy vibration to hand sensation in the steering. There are cheaper versions of this but you get what you pay for. I think folks also end up using this as a mounting point for phones etc...

    I thought I wanted a crf300l but after I keep watching your videos on the ct125 I just have kinda changed my thoughts. I live at the beach (surf City, NC) and I think it would be a great bike to cruise the island or even ride it from here to Asheville on all 2 lanes. 🤔

      This would be a GREAT bike for Surf City. We vacation there every year. I grew up here in the mountains of WV with a Hunter Cub (CT) 90 CC. My grandfather had two of them. We used them on his farm. I have a lot of fond childhood memories on those bikes.

I live on the main land between holly ridge and surf city. No reason not to strap a cooler and some fishing rods on it and head to the surf. Thanks for your comment. 😊

    The inverter will eat your battery. Check for 12v adapter to charge your drone

      I only use it when I'm riding and the bike is running. I'm sure it would drain the battery pretty fast if the engine wasn't running...

    An Insta 360 pro camera mounted off the rear rack up high & at a backwards angle should give you close enough to the footage your looking for w/o having to stop, setup the shot, ride & return to break it all down etc...

    cut the bar off the rack to make it more compatible ,as it is a tail bone breaker, and it stops you from sliding back to find a more comfy position.

    You're going to have to keep that vehicle running and moving the use that inverter because you need your engine to say cool so you need air to go over your engine if they cool you need your engine running to keep your battery charged so your battery can keep feeding that inverter the inverters going to drain that little battery very quickly I have experience. So when your charging you have to be driving

    Nice review, I am looking for a fun bike to ride on some light dirt roads/trials and on road, looking at the Ct125 vs. Ruckus. I am 6 foot 1 inch tall 220 lbs. Any advice would be welcome. Selling my 2001 Harley Road King, sick of all the expensive maintenance.

      John's tall as hell too and he's not as comfy as I am (5'8") but - he's ridden some long miles on it. I've ridden mine from Asheville, NC to Utah so far.. We're out on the TAT now....

    I wonder if a solution to your removeable case problem is if you use something like a Milwaukee packout case? They have a plastic plate you can buy that could mount to the rack, and the packout has a quick release locking mechanism that allows you to slide it away from the plate. Not sure if the dimensions are right, but may be worth a look.

    Why don't you change your gearing by swapping the front sprocket ... Have a highway gear & chain length for getting to the trail & then swap it & either several chain links or the whole chain for a more trail friendly version when you get there, it's 10-15 min max w/ only a couple of tools & you'd be able to cruise 60mph +
    My trail 90 has 2 sprockets on the rear wheel so it would be just like the old days only you'd be swapping the front sprocket

      You don't need to get a longer piece of chain. The engine will not pull a higher countershaft sprocket as it doesn't have enough horsepower for it. Watch my videos on it, you'll see. If you put a 15T on the front, the engine will not pull the bike as fast as the stock 14T did. If you drop the countershaft sprocket down to a 13T, it will give you more pep down low for climbing, but you will suffer a few MPH on top end. Just so you know, I've done all these tests on the CT125 here in Thailand and this is what I've found from those tests. My final set up is the stock 14T countershaft sprocket with a 42T rear sprocket (the Honda Wave 125i rear sprocket will fit the CT125).... I also have a 142cc BBK on my bike which will solve the lack of power to get out of mud holes and up off road inclines. Looking forwards to watching your TAT trip..... Good luck......

    This is a great video! Thank you very much! Quick question about your USB port, if you wired into the brown and yellow wire in your headlight, does it only get hot when your headlight is on? The reason I’m asking is because my brown and yellow wire is always hot, if I check it with a multimeter, when it’s unplugged, whether the ignition is on or not. Is yours the same way?

    Hello from Holland , beautiful bike, I like to buy such a CT 125 bike because I am in love with this bike. But,… I am too afraid to tell my lovely wife……. The comfortable seat. I saw some weeks ago a Ct125 driver who had a seatcover made from small balls. The same you sometimes see in cars on the driver seat. Hopely a idea ? Much greetings from us in Holland 🌷🌷Jan

    I went and looked at The Honda dealer on Wednesday I was informed there was a 2 year waiting list on the trail 125 and also the 300 Enduro bummer HD NEIL AKA THE KRONK 😀👍😕😢😞: VERY SAD 😥😢

    I like these bikes , But i think a little to slow for my area , People drive like nuts ,But to ride in the woods paths would be great , These added accessories looked cool too.

    Second the Airhawk. Turned a 100 mile seat to a 300 mile seat. Just be sure and follow inflation guildlines.

    Glad to hear your doing the trail. I rode Kevin's route last summer and am riding Sam's route this summer (2021). I wasn't sure if you were serious about the trail the last time I commented...but now I believe your all in. It looks like you need some protection for you gas container. I have a series on RUclips now that in part 14 I discuss what I packed for the ride if your interested. ruclips.net/video/S6M4I7QlIyU/видео.html You might balance out the gas container by putting a RotoPak water container on the opposite side for the western states. Your correct about the trail being similar to todays video, all is well until OK if it's been raining, I advise avoiding the mud. Colorado is fine, I rode Imogene on Kevin's route and the DRZ did fine but I fell several times heading west to east. Sam's mountain passes are a bit easer. You should get better tires for Arkansas and west. ( in my opinion ). You've got a great video presence and you keep it interesting, If you take the time to invest in your videos you'll appreciate the results when you look back on your adventure. It should make a really good RUclips series...

    I have ridden my new CT125 a little and I find my tailbone hits on the luggage rack bar right behind the seat. I am 6'1" and i want to sit further back. I put some foam around the bar but not a big help. I don't want to put on a long seat and lose the rear rack. any suggestions?

      I had the same problem when I first got it. Honestly - I just changed my expectation of how you're supposed to sit on a motorcycle and moved up. It's a weird sitting position for sure... You're way taller than I am though - so I'm sure it's worse... I think my buddy John is about your height. ruclips.net/user/evergeendata. He tried some handlebar risers and didn't like them.       I had a 74 CT90. Didn’t really have that problem. Seat was comfortable. And rack appears different. But we just strapped an old OD green army blanket on there and it served many purposes including a buddy seat. Which the old ones actually had buddy pegs.
      And I think you can still get that seat for that bike but was like $90 bucks. I think you also had to remove the rack. Not sure now.

    Hey the guy at ct125 accessories is not there not answering texts i sent 258.00 cant get any information for 2 weeks buyer beware. It was probably ok a year ago but seems like he bailed out.
