Good Gawd almighty!! Not sure if I could pick two more of these ole boys who can get it done any better. Dang smooth as any butter you'll ever have. Perfect harmony. What a blessing!
What I'm about to say is terrible, but when I read your comment, well, here goes -- unless you live in the south -- and on the eastern coastline -- you don't just go around saying: Good God Almighty -- and in the south, it's reserved for those special times when you just have to invoke the Lord -- In this case, I choose to believe when you said it, you sent up a prayer of immense thanksgiving, and God responded: I love you humans, you're welcome. Here's the bad part. I live under a rock, and for a year had no idea who Chris Watts was/is -- and wish I didn't now. the old joke about how do you tell if a lawyer is lying? His lips are moving -- well. Anyway, he was arrested in Colorado after he murdered not just his wife and their child she was carrying, but his two young daughters -- and, according to him -- he killed them twice, because the first time didn't take -- anyway, he was in the police station being interviewed, and had just been advised he flunked the lie detector test, and they asked him if he wanted to talk to his father, who had flown in from their hometown in North Carolina -- and he lies to his father, saying he caught his wife after she had murdered their two children, and said he then murdered her -- and his NC father replied: God Almighty, son. ----- well, in all the transcripts and CC they never got it right. I was a court stenographer for about 30 years, and my super power is my hearing -- and for me, personally, your comment about this incredible video could not be more on point -- peace to you and all you love. Today is 12/1/2020 -- I pray every day that when this trying times of 2020 are finally over, we can learn that the only way we're going to make it through is with each other -- and one last thing then I'll shut up -- the thing I love most about this, is that the other folks on the stage -- there is no ego -- Vince at the end wants everyone to know that JT wrote that song -- there's no ego here -- just joy -- lucky us for whomever recorded it.
The original was recorded with Linda Rondstat singing high harmony over James Taylor's melody on the J T album, and I still listen to it at least twice a week to this very day! This is a treasure, because I don't think James has done song live that much at all for many years.
When John Mayer introduced JT at the Grammy's a few years back, all he said was, "Ladies and gentlemen, the Blueprint... Mr. James Taylor". 'Nuff said!
Check out the video of JT being introduced - I think Kennedy Center - by Sting. Where he tells about going to see him, when he (Sting) was an aspiring folk singer. He talks about how this guy comes out, impossibly tall, impossibly handsome, with an impossibly great voice - and the next day he turned in his guitar and became the bass player in a punk rock band. I did get to see him back then - I can imagine he made an impression.
good morn, we each know, (well, late prudent start), um, enjoy this wonderful song... got a cup of coffee? iced, it's not so much the heat as the humidity, we shall see, to be, book ending... as I go on and on and on... listening to the song... truly touches my heart
Next time one of these millenials (I have one myself; love him to bits) tell you that aliens are better than humans because they can fly through space, play 'em this video. I would not trade all the technology in the world (although I do love quantum physics) for the beautiful gifts we humans have, and so readily share with one another. In these difficult times of 2020, I wish we'd remember that -- all lives matter, and no one group is more aligned than another. I've never seen Vince Gill in person in concert -- darn !! -- but James Taylor once way back in the beginning of his career -- small venue -- just a man and his guitar -- the place was so quiet you could hear a pin drop, because even though we were all young -- including James -- we somehow just knew, this one is special -- he was a little bashful, and maybe even nervous -- it's hard in the beginning to play in front of lots of people, even a small venue -- and then he'd just play his guitar -- already a maestro -- big sigh, peace to all -- I can't believe this only has 300,000 views since 2017 -- but let one of the "big stars" get on and lip sync, it breaks the internet -- ugh.
I'd never heard this before recently, and said, 'This must be a George Jones song'. It has that feel about it, and then I read where JT wrote this AND GJ actually did him a version. I've hear JT do country a number of times and he's a natural. Search for his versions of She Thinks I Still Care and Seminole Wind. You''ll be glad you did.
James didn’t write this song specifically for George Jones. He wanted to write a country song, which he wasn’t known for, and featured it on his 1966 album JT. It was covered later by Jones, in which Taylor sang backup vocal.
@@lanes58 Dude, get your facts straight, you may be correct, I'm not sure about "writing it for George" part, but he put this album out in 1977, not 1966. Rock on!

Gawd, I love this. JT did this tune in B flat - and here goes Vince running it a whole step up, in C! No wonder JT was stretching for some of those notes. It reminds me of what his wife said, when introducing "House of Love", "I asked Vince to sing the high harmony part...it was too high for me". ruclips.net/video/RNfuzckwbSg/видео.html
Does anyone have other links to songs from this performance? Or know who the other performers were? You can see at the end that there were five of them on stage. I'm pretty sure Joe Walsh is at far left, Chris Stapleton next to him. Can't identify the lady in the middle.
The contributions that these two men gave towards music is something we'll never be able to calculate. Gentle Giants.
