Now I know why my chip re-setter is not turning green! But I was able to get the compatible carts to charge in the printer and ignore the Cartridge Not Recognized error message. Thank you Jose, I learned a lot today! I am sick of paying such RIDICULOUS prices for Epson NX300 carts in the T0691-T0694 series. Thank you for putting this video up and being so careful to explain everything in detail! You are AWESOME!
Hi Jose, I practised a bit more on two more oem carts and found that, as you say, you need to pressurise carefully, and work the pressure on and off. Eventually it pops. It helps to adjust the syringe so that there is only a bit of travel left at high pressure. I noticed that after successful popping, you can see the two filling port covers flexing and the rectangular cavity behind the label flexes as you blow air in and out - and there is no leaks of ink anywhere! With the R1800 carts, the vent hole has a valve in it which you need to push in while filling with ink. My first re-filled oem cart is working fine. Many thanks.
Like I said it is is a very iffy process than may or may not work even 50% of the time. The reason I made the video initially is because people begged me to do it and I really did not want to as it was not at least 90% reliable.
I'm happy with that risk. Might as well try to use my old oem carts, rather than just throwing them in the bin. The one I did the other day is working fine and I have a perfect nozzle check.
I work with several inkjet cartridges including all of these epson cartridges. I tested this method and it does work...mostly. When you break the "one way valve" that built into the nozzle of this cartridge you can refill through the nozzle. The first problem with this method is when you fill until you see ink come out of the vent you are saturating the vent filter with ink. This filter is designed to allow air to pass through but not liquid. When it is saturated with liquid it does not allow air through as easily. So... when you fill this way you put ink into the filter and block it so your cartridge will (after printing for about 10 to 20 pages) develop a vacuum inside and not release any ink. You might not experience this if you only print one or 2 pages at a time. This will allow he vacuum to equalize and you might be fine. Also, filling this way, you are unable to eliminate all of the air from the cartridge so you will have problems when the "ink sensor" detects a bubble. The printer will read that bubble as "the cartridge is out of ink" You might solve this by banging the cartridge on a table to move the bubble off of the sensor but it will probably return soon. If you are able to reset the chip, the ink level will not be accurate because you were unable to remove all of the air from the cartridge. All in all, this method does work. Just be aware you might starve your print-head and need to constantly remove the cartridge to bang it on the table. Good Luck.
That why you must first remove ALL the ink that is left in the cart before cracking the diaphragm. The you have to make absolutely sure there is NO air in the syringe loaded with new ink. The you must absolutely know what the factory volume is. You weigh a 100% empty cart against a factory brand new one and then only load that amount. Now you tap as you suggested, the cart so that you allow any air to be detached from the internal maze of ink space. I agree 100% with you about accidentally wetting the vent filter. That is a NO NO. If the amount of ink is correct, you will not wet the vent. I will often inject a bit less ink and pull the cart out at about 20% level anyway so the wetness sensor is not tripped. It is not a perfect method but it does allow you to do what many have said was impossible to do. If it doesn't not work for you then the only other option is refillable carts of which there are BAD and GREAT ones. It can be a total crap shoot unless you know the company and they have a great reputation. And many do. I would stay away from EBAY and simply pay a bit more for the assurance of getting a good product.
Jose Rodriguez Even if the ink volume injected is exactly the same as the original amount, due to the maze of chambers and where the inlet/outlet is in each of those chambers it is impossible to fill using this method without wetting the filter. (unless you can inject the ink into the nozzle under vacuum) As you fill the cartridge gravity takes the ink to the bottom (top inverted) of each chamber that traps air inside each chamber and it will not ever leave. It might work if you filled it right side up after you break the seal but I think the results will be the same.
I bought some refills from bch and watched some of their refill videos. According to bch, the chip on the cart does NOT measure the ink level but the number of prints. As you say in this video, the chip isn't accurate. Thanks for these excellent videos Jose! I love how you like to help people avoid being screwed mercilessly by the scum charging $60 USD for 20 ml of ink. I doubt I will use this method and prefer to use bch method of using a drill to make a feed hole (not sure if this is a good method; there was so much air in his cart i doubt he would be able to use it before drying out the print head with too much air) and then pumping in the ink. I'm afraid to use your method in case (as bch showed) the valve ruptures.
No. Even if you could I don't think there is resetter for the chip. You have to use refillable carts with resettable chips which may be battery powered for the resetting.
Jose, are you aware of a source for the "attachment that goes into the exit port" for the R2400 OEM carts? I've looked everywhere but have come up empty-handed. Thanks.
Refill tip for this tipe of carts: Go to Google and search for EPSON (Your epson Ink Series) Like "Epson Apple inks" You'll find original epson site, where you'll find the specific MLs of ink to be injected As soon as you use a third part ink, i advice you to load 1 ml more ink in the cartridge. Example T0xxx 11 ml >> inject 12 mls ADCSFXworks Printing Center
Thank you so much for this easier method of refilling! If it works for the 2200, which I believe you stated at the beginning of this video. Where can one get the proper ink for refilling? Also, can you use an off the shelf syringe or does it have to be a special one? Thanks again. Kind Regards, Steve
Hi, I just got a printer with these empty cartridges. I'm allowed to play with it, so I tried putting metal tape across the wetness sensor contacts on a empty cartridge and now it shows its level is full, ....but wont go, the chip still needs resetting, probably. :( Since I think the sensor measures resistance, (short circuiting, makes it full). So maybe try this, it might be a way to reuse your shorted out empty carts. (this is like what ProGamer1515 was trying to do) It's funny I watched your video before I was introduced to the same printer/cartridges you showed. (I'm doing a project where I'm trying to print with water.) your video is really informative!!! thanks :3
It's been a while, I think there are 2 contacts between the chip and the contacts to the sensor. 6:30 I put some copper/aluminium electrical tape over the sensor so the metal back will create a circuit between the computer chip's pins. And the computer chip shouldn't notice the sensor is broken anymore. ^_^ Sorry I don't have it with me at the moment, I'm remembering off the top of my head :P feel free to ask more about it :)
I have an Epson RX 500 all-in-one and it's been very cranky. If everything isn't exactly right it will drive you nuts and sometimes it will say a cartridge is empty when it still has over half it's ink. Take a cartridge out, and it won't accept it back. I've even had it tell me a cartridge was empty and I replaced it. Then it said another was empty, then another, etc. until I replaced them all. Epson may be great printers but I think I'll go with something different next time. I had a Lexmark before and it was problem free at a fraction of the cost.
Hi Jose When I try this method to "pop" the membrane, nothing happens before I use so much power that the whole cartridge cracks. I have cracked 5-6 of them by now. Same thing happens all the time. Original cartridges for Epson stylus R2400.
Did you use a 20ml syringe? Did extract EVERY drop of ink from them before attempting? It should POP at bout the 7ml point if you are using a 20 ml syringe. If there is ANY fluid still in it will not work and even if it does work, you will aspirate that leftover ink into the diaphragm. You have to hold the cart upside down and vertically so the exit port is pointing up toward the ceiling. Filling can only be done with the exit port aiming toward you and on the bottom if you hold the cart on its edge. Rate of injection is no faster than 1ml per 5 seconds.
Hi Jose, excellent and very informative! Have you been encouraged yet to figure out how to hack the 702 cart for the Workforce Pro 3720? There has to be a way...
I do not have that printer nor will likely get one as I concentrate only on Photo Printer! Hopefully someone in the "Trade" will come up with some way to do it.
No not the T34 ( 2200 ) carts. I stated that those can be refilled by using the little valves from rjjetek Not the method of popping the diaphragm. that is only for the numbers listed. Well there are many sources for good 3rd party inks. companies like Precision colors, inkjetfly, inkjetcarts.us to mention a few.
Hi Jose I have a epson wf-2530. I am new at this. After watching your video, i refilled the cartridges and everything worked....for about 2 weeks. Suddenly, epson doesn't recognize the cartridges. Does that mean that i need the resetting chit? Thanks
dont pop the diafragm. Fill the syringe to half (ex 5 ml). turn it up side down and push the air out. attach it to the cartridge and pull the syringe full out to create a vacuum and then push the ink in.
Are you sure? " don't pop the diafragm. Fill the syringe to half (ex 5 ml). WITH INK? turn it up side down and push the air out. YOU MEAN EXPEL THE AIR OUT OF THE SYRINGE BUT WITH ONLY 5ML WORTH ON THE 10ML SYRINGE? attach it to the cartridge and pull the syringe full out to create a vacuum and then push the ink in. SO YOU ARE SAYING THAT YOU CAN VACUMM FILL THE NEW EPSON CARTS THAT WAY?" I would think that if that was all it took, the device that rjettek is selling would not required??? I will try this and report back.
I use Epson 127 Cartridges with require a 9-pin OEM resetting tool, however I have only seen the 7-pin available. Do you where I can find the resetting tool I need and/or if it is available. Thanks!
ProGamer1515 Now that would be a hell of a lot of problem to go through. I would not even know how to do what you've suggested.Just refill and reset them before they go dry!
Thanks for you video. Before I watch your video, I had tried to use a needle to break a little hole at 3:34 which you mentioned. It is very easy to break it and the ink is leaking out. Can I just refill the ink to that little hole?
Hello Jose, thank you for the info. Im sorry if you've discussed it previously and i missed it but i am tempted to get a CiSS ink delivery for my RX595. Do you have an opinion of these continuous delivery systems, do they really work? any info would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much!!
I have no experience with any of the RX series of printers. A good place to ask is the Dpreview Printer Forum. I tend to concentrate only on Dedicated Photo Printers from EPSON and CANON.
Do you know anything about the 702? Kind of in a bind right now. I have OEM 702 carts and i've not been having luck. I have ink, but I'm not sure of the process and can't find any info.
Sorry but don't even know that those are. This method ONLY works for the cart numbers listed in the description. Epson changed the design of carts to prevent that method from being further used. So remember, only the carts listed!
About the resetter, i see there are 2 rows of pins, one row with 3 pins and one with 4 pins, while on the chip there is one row with 4 pins and one with 5, respectively. So is it really compatible? And if i have a 7-pin resetter for, let's say, T0968 series, will it be it suitable for other series of cartridges as well or every series of cartridges needs its own resetter? Is there somewhere a list of series of cartridges that share the same resetter? Thanks in advance.
I've made it a point to have both a 7 and 9 pin resetter. Is looks like the resetter pins should match the number of contacts on the chips perfectly but that is not the case. Not all the lower row contacts are used for writing the reset codes to the chips. But the upper 4 always are.
Rjettek no longer carries the oneway valves nor any valves needed for refilling the epson 2200 oem cartridges. The oneway valve company went out of business they told me. Does anyone else sell valves that you can use to refill the 2200 carts today? And or is there a different technique you have to use to refill the carts today?
I've given you the link to the new company that carries this three times already! www.refillsupermarket.co.uk/index.php/inkjet-equipment/various-ink-refilling-tools.html?SID=ccpb2d57ijroa2cnkam9dnah47
Some places will take certain old cartridges as credit towards a new one but I haven't found any place that accepts Epson cartridges. Are all printers as troublesome as Epson? I've had a Lexmark and it was trouble free until our power line had a voltage surge. I have an H P now and it hasn't given any problems. The Epson (RX 500 photo quality) has been as cranky as a baby with a bad case of diaper rash, it's almost never "happy". I doubt that it's printed over 500 copies in it's lifetime.
Not the higher end Dedicated Photo Printer Family. What you are referring to are the lowest tier of printers. Those must be used almost daily in order to keep them unclogged.
Jose, Rjtek no longer has those one-way valves available for the older OEM cartrdiges (ie. R2400). Perhaps, you know of another source for these or another way to refill these. Thank you. Andy
I suppose you could make the same hole into the cart under base as in the video and pressure fill it somehow and then use a plug to seal the hole. It will not work as well as with the actual valves.
I have an Epson R2400 and would really like to try this but I am having problems finding syringes and a chip resetter. I looked on rjettek but can't seem to find what I am looking for.
Unfortunately the Rjettek valves which would definitely work with those carts but they are no longer available. Just get refillable with auto reset chips from any seller. They are all pretty much the same.
Hi Jose, I tried this on six R1800 oem carts. Two "popped" as you described and could be filled, but the others burst under the black label and leaked. Have you experienced this?
I think i mentioned of a device that is about $200 which performed the operation I proposed to do by hand manually doing this introduces too many variables and chances for failures. This was an is a totally experimental process with no 100% guarantees. But once you can modify a full.set of them your are all set.
Hi Jose, Have you tried resetting the 99 artisan cartridge ink series? I have Epson artisan 1430 now and my old printer Epson artisan 835 broke. I have so many new unused ink from that printer Epson artisan 835. The ink cartridge from Epson artisan 835 will fit into my new epson 1430 printer, but the chip is not recognize in the new printer. I need to refill the old cartridge of the the 99 series to the new Epson 79 series. Any ideas how I can make this work? Also do you reset the cartridge before or after the refill?
If the have the circular diaphragm which is visible under the label then yes. BUT.... if it has a wet sensor you have to refill them before they are close to empty. Before popping or cracking the diaphragm you MUST draw out every remaining drop of ink. That is very important. If you do not you will ruing the cart.
702??? What printer make or model does that cart go to? Also as far as I know it only works with the numbers I posted along with the video description and NO others.
Jose, luv your videos, one I am looking for is about the Epson cart that has the window in the bottom, for the printer to see how much ink is in there, XL200 carts are among these. I am sure I saw a vid you did on this, apparently the refill is similar to what you are doing here in rupturing the diaphragm. The XL200 seem to also have this diaphragm. Any help would be appreciated.
+Jackie Dines I don't know of any EPSON OEM carts that show you how much ink is in them. There is a MAZE of channels and chambers inside OEM carts that are completely sealed from the peering eyes. Only Refillable Carts would ever allow you see inside their very simple internal chambers ( Nothing like OEM ). They are the only ones that have see through sides.Even IF you could rupture the membrane ( Iffy Proposition ) how would you reset them? You'd have to find a resetter for those Carts. I understand that it is a three color and black ink printer not really intended for photos but for documents. I would suggest you just use compatible carts on it. That's what I do on my WF1100.Joe
+Jose Rodriguez Thanks for your reply and yep it is just a doc printer. I think I have found a video on how to refill them, not a problem. But I would love to ask you what you think about buying a R1900 that has only used one set of inks. I believe these have the TO87 carts. As this printer is getting on now I would imagine that they emptied the carts and never replaced them, so that would be a new set and then the issue of refilling if they have that "wet sensor" you talk about. Is it practical to use CISS or replace the OEM with refillables? Can you use Dye ink as well, if so is there much to preparing the printer to change inks? I am just an enthusiast and getting more and more interested in printing my own pics. So far I only have used the RX650 6 colour printers and these do a pretty good job, but I would really like to achieve two other things, one is to print better black and white, the other is to be able to print A3 size. I bought a RX650 years ago and just recently was given another one as the owners could not handle trying to clean the nozzles and or use refillable carts. So they just went out and bought a new printer. I have now (thanks to your videos) been able to refill the OEM carts and after buying a chip resetter (from the US, I am in Oz) I am happy to say that it is all working a treat. Sorry about this long post but I would love to know your thoughts on the R1900 for my purposes, I cannot afford to buy new and where I live the market is very small, I have been looking for a long time to buy a reasonable Epson A3 photo printer second hand. I think that I should be able to buy it for around $350 AU.
+Jackie Dines Jackie, I am sorry I did not see your reply any earlier. The R1900 is a wonderful printer capable of excellent gorgeous results on glossy and lustre papers. If ytou can find it and it is able to be cleared on all nozzles then it will serve you very well. You will have to install and expernal Waste Ink collector simply to make sure that you are no longer dumping ink into the internal pads wehn you have to clean nozzles or after installing a new cart.Good luck!
Hi Jose what would be good for filling 2 types of Cartridges Epson stylus NX115 series TO692 AND a Cannon ip2702 PIMXA CL-211XL COLOR AND CL-211XL BLACK Thanks Ed from NC.
+Ed Pirelli I have no idea really. As I only refill a few cart types which are very old ones. The new carts have lots of mechanisms to defeat our efforts at refilling them specially the ones you mention. So sorry but you best bet is to try to find refillable carts for those printers. About the CANONs I only know about Carts used on Dedicated Photo Printers so I do not know those cart models. If they are opaque then you really can not realistically refill them accurately. Plus you would need a chip resetter. Look on any of the 3rd Party Ink compny websites and see what they can offer.
Most EPSON cartridges cannot be reset let alone refilled due to their construction. So... Only refillable third party carts would the only option for EPSON printers.
By the way - Epson can easily see your very instructive tutorial and think up new ways to defeat methods of refiling. Every company wants to hold on to their monopoly - remember - the lock the mind of man can devise, so the mind of man will open.
EBay. Should be a 9 pin Epson resetter. Or you can search for a resetter for T087 carts. But remember that these carts have wet sensors. They short out the chip conduit to the printer so it will nmo longer communicate with it. So you can not let them reach less than 20%. Al's this method is very iffy to perform successfully and the people who produced the $200 cart jig no longer offer it. I've done it but it takes some luck as well as skill.
Whatever you do, do not ever, Ever, EVER download the Epson software/firmware updates. Say No and tell it never to ask you again. After I upgraded my firmware, my printer wouldn't even read the chips on a brand-new set of GENUINE EPSON cartridges that I had bought at Walmart. Thanks a lot Epson, what a way to keep your customers!
The newest printers (XP-310 and WF-2540) do. As soon as you install the software, it asks you to update it. It will also tell you the cartridge isn't genuine and will void your warranty, even with their own cartridges. This appears to be a major complaint among Epson users.
+BDazzled Designs That is the problem whit these newer Epsons. That happens is you install them as WiFi or even with USB? But so you know, it is against the law for them to void the warrantee just because you use non Epson carts.
Hi Jose. If you are on Wi-Fi, Epson will "bug" you to download the firmware update. You can tell it at that point not to ask you again. Download a free program called "Shall I Remove It?" and find Download Navigator and get rid of it.
+Vic Deng There are 7 pin and 9 pin resetters. So check you chip for how many contacts it has then go to EBAY, look up some resetters to see if your cart CODE NUMBER is actually resettable. I had a Artisan 720 AIO and I ended up having to buy refillable carts for it.Joe
Hi Jose, Thank you for an informative clip here-and others. I have an 837 with refillable cartridges. Black has become light and cleanings do not help-can I drain the black ink out of the cartridge, put in cleaning solution and then "print" a mostly black photograph to clean the print head? Just wondering, thank you for your time, Scott
+stp479 What do you mean "Black fas become Light"? Are you missing many lines on the nozzle check for black? You can not refill your OEM carts unless you try the method shown here which can be dicey and damage the cart if not dome correctly. Otherwise you would have to use refillable carts and fill them up with something like Piezoflush from Inkjetmall. Not cheap but very effective.
+Jose Rodriguez Multiple head cleanings and black is not very dark. I have refillables so thought I could use cleaning fluid in the black refillable cartridge and run another head cleaning. It is only the black giving me trouble-nozzle checks are good on all other colors.
+stp479 Is the black cart properly primed? Fill it full ten insert a syringe into the exit port and draw oiut a couple of ml. Reinsert the cart and do one clean and check nozzle check. It is is still bad then suck out the black inkand fill same with head cleaner. Is the black Iine totally filled with ink? Actually I think it is your cart that is causing the problem.
Yes. When you top off your cars tank you want the gauge to reflect that right? Same with carts. The chip is not at all connected to the internal ink levels. It has no clue how much real ink volume is in there. So yes you need to reset the chip any time you refill...top off...fill.
hi jose, I found a espon work force 600, It just print blank pages, So i cleaned the print head by squirting hot water threw the nozzles like it says on the net which was indeed clogged, So i put the ink carts back in and i was getting something on a page but with lines, At the time the inks was getting low on link, Than i tried again and it says the yellow ink cartridge not recognized.. Just keep saying that always now, So i filled it up like in your video thinking maybe its saying that because its out of ink, But nope it still says that... So i was wondering if that sensor got triggered and its out of ink, Will that make it trigger that message? I like to know before i buy new ink for it and find out it still says it and its something with the printer.. Even tho it ony started to do that when it got really low, When i first got it, the ink level that it showed was in the middle, But doing the head cleaning tons of times made it go really low. Its ony yellow that is having that message. Thanks:)
Yes, it is very likely that the wet sensor was triggered. What happens is that it is under ink during normal operation. While it is under ink it is able to stay cool. Once ink reaches a certain level, almost empty it is exposed to air and no longer protected and it simply overheats and the circuit is broken. You can reset the chip but the link to the printer is now broken so it will be a no go. You used up all the ink while performing the cleaning cycles.
hi i have epson stylus sx 115 and i won to reffil these things so step 1 BLOW air and when make POP stop second reffil with in 3 ready to USE ?? ok this is all all right ? thanks dude !!
This method may not work with all newer cart types. Use a 20-30 ml syringe. Many carts have wet sensors and can not be reset after 15% to empty! Let me know if this works on your carts.
+Kallam McDougall This a good one and it uses USB power for full reliability.www.ebay.com/itm/Never-Low-power-Chip-resetter-for-Epson-T054-T059-87-96-R800-R1800-R2880-R1900-/320959259127?hash=item4abaa9a1f7:m:mTzmFbhcXQV5TqbKz7tfyvgHowever as you know, the R1900 carts use a wet sensor so they are not a good candidate for modifying and refilling. I would choose a good set of refillable carts instead.
+Juan R. It might! This an iffy method unless you actually have the refilling jig. Doing it by hand as I am doing is a 50/50 proposition. Is there a chip resetter for those carts?
+Juan R. I can't really tell you why that happens other than the printer firmware might recognize that the code the resetter writes to the chip is not a genuine one! I have not had that happen too often but it has happened. That is why I have so many reserters.
Hello sir, I enjoy your videos once i blow out the one way damper, there is a ,mess. is it safe to put ink back in right away or does it need to be sealed , it seems like ink is coming out of the side. It seems like i cannot put ink back into the cartridge because when i try and push air through a second time air bubbles and ink are still coming out, did i do it wrong and break the oem , i am doing this on the r1800 cartride for cyan color.
Did you compare the cart # against the list of compatible carts in the description. Thus only work like 50% of the time unless you have the actual $200 gasket to do this properly. Does not work at all with anything new.
@@cheo1949 actually sir, I hadn't yet. But I did now and I do not see it. I have the T0542 ( cyan) for epson stylus r1800. I tried it already to inject air and it seems as though ink is leaking from the sides when I try to inject it.
So that's not one of the design that allows this. EPSON sees these videos and immediately circumvents it and redesigns the new generations of carts to prevent the process to continue.
WOW!!!! Tried it out on 220-I carts and works. But I'm still trying to figure out how to reset the ink levels so I can print :/ I noticed that some CISS instruction videos have a button to reset the chip like Joe D mentioned about shorten it out for wet chips. I'm been looking for a wire diagram how to make my own or at least find what the pinouts are.(non wet chips) Any ideas?
Sorry man I thought you were asking about modifying the valve for refilling like on the PRO3800/3880. No this method shown here is for a certain type of cart that has the round diaphragm on the side. Nothing else. It is also a very iffy modification.
Click on Show More! There you will see a list of Epson cartridges. If your cart # is not in that list then it will probably not work. This is a very iffy operation that works only about 50% of the time as it is dependant on the operator. If you had the device that was over $200 then it ie reliable.
My cartridge is T1801 and not in the list but it does have the round diaphragm on the side so it maybe worth a try. If this method doesn't work do you know how I refill a T1801 cartridge.
A ten ml will not work. You need al east that much air volume to be able to accurately pop that diaphragm. Here is the Actual product designed and meant for what I can do manually. www.rjettek.com/je1067-jero-epson-single-refill-jig/ Here is their product video: ruclips.net/video/1YVD2YCO2wg/видео.html
Thanks for your findings and for letting us know! I've tried it with a t080x for my R285 and succeed in breaking the membrane. Sadly this wet sensor makes you refill so soon that you can refill only around 5ml of the full 7,5ml (which is a joke actually). So I switched back to refillable carts My question: I wanted to refill also T054x for my old R800. There are refillables on the market but it's hard to find some reliables Do you have tried your method of disrupting the membrane also with this type of carts (for epson r800 and r1800)? I just tried to make it "pop" by pushing air into the outlet. But what have worked out fine with a T080x ended with a leaky T054x. I disrupted the cart, not only the membrane. The T054x is not in your listing but you might have a R800 or 1800 and tried it out...?! martin0reg
+Jose Rodriguez My question refers to the R800 (you have to scroll down my posting...) Did you ever tried to disrupt the membrane of a T054x for R800 or R1800? I haven't succeed ... So is the only way to refill the r800 OEM carts the "old style"? Which means to refill "inside out" with poking the other hole and using a tube AND a syringe?
+martin 0reg I do not have any T054 carts to look at but if they do have the double factory fill holes on the underside, then the best was and only way I would use is with the Rjettek fill system I use in the video. However if they are do not have those two taped over holes then you have to use the newer method which by the way I did not invent. Rjettek actually sells the tool for doing this with very good consistency. I simply wanted to see if I would be able to do the same thing the $220 tool does, by hand.
+Jose Rodriguez Yes the T054x have these double factory fill holes, and I tried refilling the old style yesterday. With one end of a tube in the factory hole and the other in the ink bottle, then pulling at the ink outlet with an empty syringe. Just like the guy in the video I have posted above. Like rjettek, but vice versa: by sucking instead of pushing the ink. You only need a tube to stick into the hole with a sealing. And you will need a bigger plug (around 5mm diameter) to close the fill hole. Seems to work out fine yet.
+martin 0reg Yes I've seen that method and either way it works. Supposedly the method I use pushes out 100% of the air that is normally trapped in the ink maze inside the cart much better.Joe
+Κωνσταντινος Κοντης If these are very new, maybe there is no resetter for them yetl Look on EBAY for possible answer. Looks like a 9 pin resetter will work.
Hi. would wonder if Jörgen Rambis advise worked out for you :) ???? Also, would this method not work - see here Refilling the Genuine Epson Cartridges 124 125 127128 129 130 133 138 Ink Also, just wondering , would the cartridge not need some air (pressure) inside, so it presses the colour out whenever the printer is printing. Oh by the way, what size is the syringe (the tip) ??? After refilling ... how to RESET it, without the tool u have ... any other way to so ?? This is how it looks inside: Inside Epson T0711 Black (Cheetah) Ink Cartridge
Not what I would call a great refill method. You really have to see the inside MAZE of tunnels and passages on an OEM Epson cart to understand why that method would not fully fill a cart with no air in any of the chambers.
Is there a way to refill a empty Epson ink cartridge that have a see through window on the underside of the ink cartridges. My epson printer was showing x for the blue cartridge so I refilled it then used the chip resetter but it's still showing the cartridge is still empty and I think the reason is because no ink is in the see through window on the underside of the ink cartridge just like a new cartridge.
How could I possibly know.... what printer you are talking about? The only Epson printer that uses BLUE ink is the very old R800/R1800. And by the way newer carts for newer printers have a wet sensor that communicates with the driver and when the ink that normally touches it no longer there it shorts out!!! You can reset and refill a thousand times to no avail. Your only option is a new cart.
The printer is a old Epson xp-202 that uses four 18 / 18XL cartridges. If my cartridge has a wet sensor would I be able to refill the cartridge when it gets to about half full then try resetting it.
Yes but I can not guarantee that the process shown will work. Is your cart # listed on the video description?? If so, then refilling before close to empty will maintain the wet sensor unshorted.
No my cartridge is not listed in the description but I thought I would try your method on a cartridge that I'm having trouble refilling after the cartridge showed X. The cartridges I have needs a hole drilled in the top of the cartridge so they can be refilled but I've read that when refilling ink must show in the window on the underside of the cartridge but I'm not getting ink to show. I've also got information off this site.www.proprint.co.uk/refilling_epson_t29_cartridges.htm
Wait, so if I have used all the ink in one of the brand new epson models and then refill it, will a resetter not work? (702-I cartridge in a workforce 3720 )
Correct. The wet sensor will be tripped around the 20-30% level. You can reset the chip but it will not communicate rough the sensor to come back and tell the driver all is OK. I saw and read parts of the patent for this sensor and it is very well designed to prevent bypassing.
Hi, Does anyone know if the Epson WF-100 ink cartridges ( T215 ) can be refilled and chip resetted and the maintenance box ( T2950 ) chip resetted too? Thanks in advance.
+Charlie Bronson I do not know anything about the WF series other than the much older work force 1100 which I own.You are talking about the Epson WorkForce WF-100 Wireless Mobile Printer and T215 Standard-capacity Black Ink Cartridge?I think there is nothing available for this printer even in the refillable area. I just checked around a bit and found nothing. However there are 3rd party compatible cartswww.ebay.com/itm/8-Pack-Refilled-69-Ink-Cartridge-For-Epson-Stylus-NX100-105-110-115-215-/321862480276?hash=item4af07fb194Joe
No way Jose, they do not have the reset button as I viewed in the video. That would have been too easy, but I think I may be able to "drill out" the top and inject the ink that way. ? Thanks!!
I don't know what you mean with a Reset Button. I think you mean the little lever and or depression to release pressure. Look on the side of the cart where the label is and look for a round 1- 1/5 " diameter depression. If it has that then you could try this method. If not then you my drill from the top but you need to locate the correct location. There is a MAZE of tunnels inside these carts and you will inject ink but it will remain "Locked" up somewhere inside the maze.
Thanks for replying but in my experience some inks do clogged head even printer was used very often. Thanks for recommending brand names you have used. 👍
Why not fill the syringe half way, then suck out any air and let the vacuum suck in the ink while holding the cartridge upside down of course. I will try this as soon as i can.
Because you can not pull a vacuum. I think the people who came up with this process have already thought of that and any other options. This doesn't who with modern Epson carts anyway. Only the cart numbers listed on my video description can be used. None other.
Nope. Only with older carts with the round Diaphragm and it is a 50/50 procedure. You will ruin many trying to get it just right but when you do then that becomes a refillable OEM cart.
I tried this with an Epson 802 cart... the whole circle thing on the side that's supposed to pop just completely blew out of the side of the cartridge ruining it and getting ink all over everything. :D Back to the drawing board. :|
Yeah, that was the risk I was willing to take. These carts are so new that there are no tutorials on how to do it (good ones) or 3rd party carts available online to buy. I bought a kit and some OEM carts (as backup) and figured I would give it a try. Didn't work..
At approximate 16:40 you say DO NOT push any air into the cartridge! But earlier you showed us to push air in until the diaphragm bursts! And, at this point in the video, it appears you have water in the syringe, however you do not say a word about putting water into the cartridge... very long and fairly confusing!
Not at all! You first pop The diaphragm the cart needs to be perfectly empty for that. You use air to do it. Then you refill with ink. It is at that point you do not want to inject air. You want only ink.
James Turner Did you use a 20ml syringe? Anything else, specially a larger volume one and it could very well cause the casing to come apart. You also MUST expel every drop of ink out of the cart before trying to pop the diaphragm.I've done it now dozens of times without much problem. This is not a truly recommended practice BUT it can work to make certain non refillable carts into refillable ones. But things can always go wrong. Sorry to hear about what happened.Joe AKA Jtoolman
OK a cart from that old of a model would not want to NOR require using this method. If you look at the underside of the cart you will probably two circular taped over holes. You can use the method I demonstrate in the "Long Winded" method of refilling EPSON carts. They require a special little valve you can buy from Rjettek.com I demonstrate the complete method on that video. Joe AKA Jtoolman
That can get expensive and extremely inefficient wouldn't it? Why not just use the new cart which would probably work a lot better than the one you modified.
I use big bottles for my dtg printer(Epson R1800). I'm searching for chips Who have a larger capacity then the 30ml or an other work around to cope with the small capacity of the chip. Pm me please.
I do not think those chips you are looking for exist. Even with a CISS the chips are just rated for the volume of the CISS dampers. Also I do not know anything about DTG printing.
OK here is the deal. There is a difference but it is small. You would have to go to a hundred ML of ink and compare that to 100ml of water. You will probably see a difference. Will it be heavier than water? I do not know nor do I care as it will not matter at all. Example. I weigh a full factory new OEM PRO 3800 cart. It will weigh in at 150 grams. It contains a total of 90ml of ink. 80ml is the factory official volume but it contains a 10ml "Buffer" so you never can actually run out and pull possible air into the lines which is very unlikely anyways. A fully empty equivalent weighs in at about 61-61 ml. If you do the math, it comes out that 90ml of ink weighs about 90 to 89 grams.
By "Carts" do you mean "cartridge"? If so why don't you say so? Why do words in the English language have to be abbreviated. Lazy, apathetic, stylish, ... Or is it a sign of the times where everything has to be compressed? nothing on the 75 series? Why? But regardless of the Lazy Language, very nice for the information on how to break an expensive monopoly.
That is a NO
NO.
(unless you can inject the ink into the nozzle under vacuum)
As you fill the cartridge gravity takes the ink to the bottom (top inverted) of each chamber that traps air inside each chamber and it will not ever leave.
It might work if you filled it right side up after you break the seal but I think the results will be the same.
You are supposed to fill right side up.
I may not have shown that as correctly in the video but the RJETTEK jig video does show that!
Thank YOU Mr. R.I love your accent, it reminds me of Raul Julia--REALLY Miss his Acting !Eddie, Denver
+EDDIE RAY Thank you! That's because Raul was Puerto Rican from pure Spanish background like me.
Thanks.
Refill tip for this tipe of carts:
Go to Google and search for EPSON (Your epson Ink Series)
Like "Epson Apple inks"
You'll find original epson site, where you'll find the specific MLs of ink to be injected
As soon as you use a third part ink, i advice you to load 1 ml more ink in the cartridge.
Example T0xxx 11 ml >> inject 12 mls
ADCSFXworks Printing Center
Thank you so much for this easier method of refilling! If it works for the 2200, which I believe you stated at the beginning of this video. Where can one get the proper ink for refilling? Also, can you use an off the shelf syringe or does it have to be a special one?
Thanks again.
Kind Regards,
Steve
Will this work o. Epson R3000 cartidges also? Thank you.
(this is like what ProGamer1515 was trying to do)
It's funny I watched your video before I was introduced to the same printer/cartridges you showed.
(I'm doing a project where I'm trying to print with water.)
your video is really informative!!! thanks :3
+Joseph Dickson That is some very very interesting information! Thank you!
^_^ no problem! your Video really helped me too, Thanks.
How do you short the chip to reset it?
It's been a while, I think there are 2 contacts between the chip and the contacts to the sensor. 6:30 I put some copper/aluminium electrical tape over the sensor so the metal back will create a circuit between the computer chip's pins. And the computer chip shouldn't notice the sensor is broken anymore. ^_^ Sorry I don't have it with me at the moment, I'm remembering off the top of my head :P feel free to ask more about it :)
Oh if you are asking about how the cartridge gets reprogrammed, that is different than what I am talking about.
hey there .. can we refill T5730 epson cart ? compatable for epson Picturemate 100 printer ..
That's very odd. I assume you are using OEM carts?
Hi Jose
When I try this method to "pop" the membrane, nothing happens before I use so much power that the whole cartridge cracks.
I stated that those can be refilled by using the little valves from rjjetek
Not the method of popping the diaphragm. that is only for the numbers listed.
Well there are many sources for good 3rd party inks.
companies like Precision colors, inkjetfly, inkjetcarts.us to mention a few.
For those who need the new resetter that seems to work with newer T58 chips!
www.proprint.co.uk/epson_universal_chip_resetter.htm
Hi Jose
I have a epson wf-2530. I am new at this. After watching your video, i refilled the cartridges and everything worked....for about 2 weeks. Suddenly, epson doesn't recognize the cartridges. Does that mean that i need the resetting chit?
Thanks
Of course. You need a resetter to reset the chip.
Joe AKA Jtoolman
does this work on TO481 cartridges
Have you had any luck reseting a 252 cartridge?
dont pop the diafragm.
SO YOU ARE SAYING THAT YOU CAN VACUMM FILL THE NEW EPSON CARTS THAT WAY?"
I would think that if that was all it took, the device that rjettek is selling would not required??? I will try this and report back.
I use Epson 127 Cartridges with require a 9-pin OEM resetting tool, however I have only seen the 7-pin available. Do you where I can find the resetting tool I need and/or if it is available. Thanks!
EBAY!
Hi Mr. Rodriguez, I have a epson workforce wf-2850. I purchased refillable carts however no chip included 😔 can I put chip from old cart? If so, how?
You mean an old OEM cart? How will you reset it?
Would it be possible to read the normal output of the wetness indicator with an oscilloscope and send it to the back of the chip?
ProGamer1515 Now that would be a hell of a lot of problem to go through. I would not even know how to do what you've suggested.Just refill and reset them before they go dry!
Thanks for you video. Before I watch your video, I had tried to use a needle to break a little hole at 3:34 which you mentioned. It is very easy to break it and the ink is leaking out. Can I just refill the ink to that little hole?
This ONLY works on the cartridge numbers listed. None others. And failure rate is high. You do not have to puncture anything.
So remember, only the carts listed!
thanks for the link. it shows error message when i try to pull it up, however, i found the website listed on the link and the products...mentioned
Maybe I pasted it badly. Someone found that for me.
Jose,
Rjtek no longer has those one-way valves available for the older OEM cartrdiges (ie. R2400). Perhaps, you know of another source for these or another way to refill these. Thank you.
Andy
Sorry but they were made specifically for them so they are no longer available and I sold the remaining ones I had.
Thanks. So is it still possible to re-fill the R2400 cartridges somehow.
I suppose you could make the same hole into the cart under base as in the video and pressure fill it somehow and then use a plug to seal the hole. It will not work as well as with the actual valves.
Thank you for your advice and great videos.
Sorry but you can not fill original EPSON Carts. They are made so as to not be refillable.
Jose Rodriguez ugh! Bummer. Thank you for letting me know.
So I can take ink out of it but not refill it? Right? If I buy empty refillable cartridges do I need to reset them?
Yes you can definitely do that.
Do you have a way to refill OEM Epson T273 carts? Epson XP-810 printer. Thank you in advance.
If the have the circular diaphragm which is visible under the label then yes. BUT.... if it has a wet sensor you have to refill them before they are close to empty. Before popping or cracking the diaphragm you MUST draw out every remaining drop of ink. That is very important. If you do not you will ruing the cart.
I GREET FROM GREECE FRIENDS MOY. THAT I WILL ALSO FIND THAT IS NAMED THE TOOL FOR RESET OF CHIP? ; ;
I just bought an Expression Premium XP-6000 from Epson. Can you use that method on the 302 carts. which come with it.
Nope. This will not work with any of the newer carts, EPSON changed the design to prevent us from continuing to do this.
Is there an empty 702 cartridge for refill, or a way to refill a 702?
Hello Jose, what do you have to be able to refill the carts for the Epson WF2750 carts number 220?
Most EPSON cartridges cannot be reset let alone refilled due to their construction. So... Only refillable third party carts would the only option for EPSON printers.
Jose Rodriguez do you sell those carts?
No I do not. Try EBAY or 3rd party ink product sellers. www.inkowl.com or www.inkjetcarts.us
store.inkjetcarts.us/mobile/220xl-220-epson-expression-refillable-resettable-ink-cartridges-p7162.aspx
Jose Rodriguez thank you Sir.
Hello jose, i'm just wondering if you can do this to the SCP400 carts? Very useful tip by the way. Thank you.
No you can not. Only on older carts.
@@cheo1949 thank you so much for the info. Appreciate it😊
By the way - Epson can easily see your very instructive tutorial and think up new ways to defeat methods of refiling. Every company wants to hold on to their monopoly - remember - the lock the mind of man can devise, so the mind of man will open.
Long before I uploaded this more than a year ago, they already had.
Hi JoseI have epson stylus px 730wd I can see that the T0870 is the same as mine, where do i get the resetter?
I've never ever had any of my 13 Epson and 3 Canon printers ask me to update anything. So no problem here. But I agree with you!
+BDazzled Designs That sounds good. Thanks for sharing that info.
Hi Jose, this device serves to model the cartridges XP-702?
Thanks!!!
+Nelson Oliveira Only if they are EPSON with the round diaphragm on the side.Joe
I have the Artisan 800 which uses T09xx ink, which ink reseter i should use. Please advise, thank you for your video.
Dear Sir, Its great all the way
Thanks.
Hi Jose, Thank you for an informative clip here-and others. I have an 837 with refillable cartridges. Black has become light and cleanings do not help-can I drain the black ink out of the cartridge, put in cleaning solution and then "print" a mostly black photograph to clean the print head?
Just wondering, thank you for your time,
Scott
+Jose Rodriguez Thank you Jose. I will give it a go today!
Do I still need the chip reseter if I refill it before it gets to low and the printer reports low ink?
Yes. When you top off your cars tank you want the gauge to reflect that right? Same with carts. The chip is not at all connected to the internal ink levels. It has no clue how much real ink volume is in there. So yes you need to reset the chip any time you refill...top off...fill.
11-7-16 Jose: how would you work with epson 288 carts for the xp-430 all in one printer. I'm having trouble getting these in XL??
Different design so this will not work on those.
hi jose, I found a espon work force 600, It just print blank pages, So i cleaned the print head by squirting hot water threw the nozzles like it says on the net which was indeed clogged, So i put the ink carts back in and i was getting something on a page but with lines, At the time the inks was getting low on link, Than i tried again and it says the yellow ink cartridge not recognized..
Thanks.
where can I buy a chip reset tool for R1900 epson cartridges?
+Kallam McDougall This a good one and it uses USB power for full reliability.www.ebay.com/itm/Never-Low-power-Chip-resetter-for-Epson-T054-T059-87-96-R800-R1800-R2880-R1900-/320959259127?hash=item4abaa9a1f7:m:mTzmFbhcXQV5TqbKz7tfyvgHowever as you know, the R1900 carts use a wet sensor so they are not a good candidate for modifying and refilling. I would choose a good set of refillable carts instead.
Hi Jose, I have a Epson WF 545. It uses cartridges T126 or T127.
Do you think your cartridges refill methodology works for me ?
+Juan R. It might! This an iffy method unless you actually have the refilling jig. Doing it by hand as I am doing is a 50/50 proposition.
Is there a chip resetter for those carts?
+Jose Rodriguez . Hi Jose. I bought a 7 pin one. It seems to work, but printer often does not recognize cartridges.
@@cheo1949 thank you for your time and energy sir.
hey jose try printing with water ink :P
Funny!
Oh I know my carts have that circle diaphragm... It takes a lot of force to pop it. On the 220-i has a sight glass which is helpful for refill.
Be careful! You can damage them quite easily!
Do you know if this method will work on a Epson 18 / 18XL cartridge. When you remove the ink which is the best way as you did it two ways.
It was a 10ml. I will give it one more chance with a 20ml and try to suck out
every drop. Thank you
A ten ml will not work. You need al east that much air volume to be able to accurately pop that diaphragm.
Here is the Actual product designed and meant for what I can do manually.

Thanks for your findings and for letting us know!
I've tried it with a t080x for my R285 and succeed in breaking the membrane.
Sadly this wet sensor makes you refill so soon that you can refill only around 5ml of the full 7,5ml (which is a joke actually). So I switched back to refillable carts
My question:
I wanted to refill also T054x for my old R800. There are refillables on the market but it's hard to find some reliables
Do you have tried your method of disrupting the membrane also with this type of carts (for epson r800 and r1800)?
I just tried to make it "pop" by pushing air into the outlet. But what have worked out fine with a T080x ended with a leaky T054x. I disrupted the cart, not only the membrane.
The T054x is not in your listing but you might have a R800 or 1800 and tried it out...?!
martin0reg
+martin 0reg Which is why it is only recommended for non wet sensor carts. The R285 carts do not have a sensor
+Jose Rodriguez
My question refers to the R800 (you have to scroll down my posting...)
Did you ever tried to disrupt the membrane of a T054x for R800 or R1800?
+Jose Rodriguez
Yes the T054x have these double factory fill holes, and I tried refilling the old style yesterday.
Supposedly the method I use pushes out 100% of the air that is normally trapped in the ink maze inside the cart much better.Joe
i have an epson sx235w with T1281,T1282,T1283,T1284 inks.What reseter can i use?
+Κωνσταντινος Κοντης If these are very new, maybe there is no resetter for them yetl Look on EBAY for possible answer. Looks like a 9 pin resetter will work.
Hi. would wonder if Jörgen Rambis advise worked out for you :) ???? Also, would this method not work - see here Refilling the Genuine Epson Cartridges 124 125 127128 129 130 133 138 Ink
Also, just wondering , would the cartridge not need some air (pressure) inside, so it presses the colour out whenever the printer is printing.
Can this process be done on 220-i carts?
Yes.
So as long as I refill before that is tripped and reset the chip it should work?
But can you even reset those chips????
do you have a video for the 702 epson oem to refill, or a site to buy refillable cartridge?
Hi,
Does anyone know if the Epson
WF-100 ink cartridges ( T215 ) can be refilled and chip resetted and the maintenance box ( T2950 ) chip resetted too? Thanks in advance.
+Charlie Bronson I do not know anything about the WF series other than the much older work force 1100 which I own.You are talking about the Epson WorkForce WF-100 Wireless Mobile Printer and T215 Standard-capacity Black Ink Cartridge?I think there is nothing available for this printer even in the refillable area. I just checked around a bit and found nothing. However there are 3rd party compatible cartswww.ebay.com/itm/8-Pack-Refilled-69-Ink-Cartridge-For-Epson-Stylus-NX100-105-110-115-215-/321862480276?hash=item4af07fb194Joe
Thank
where do you buy the resetter????
www.precisioncolors.com
Thank you Jose.
You're welcome
How would one do the Epson124 and 125 cartridges? Thanks
Not familiar with those Cart #s but if the have the round bladder the same might apply. But even if you could, can you reset them?
No way Jose, they do not have the reset button as I viewed in the video. That would have been too easy, but I think I may be able to "drill out" the top and inject the ink that way. ? Thanks!!
I don't know what you mean with a Reset Button. I think you mean the little lever and or depression to release pressure.
Look on the side of the cart where the label is and look for a round
1- 1/5 " diameter depression. If it has that then you could try this method. If not then you my drill from the top but you need to locate the correct location. There is a MAZE of tunnels inside these carts and you will inject ink but it will remain "Locked" up somewhere inside the maze.
Thanks Jose!!
What ink do you use so it won't clog the head?
+Atti Butt I used Precisioncolors and Inkjetcarts. But preventing clogs is more of a print often type practice and not so much due to inks.
None other.
Jose can I refill the xp-6000?
Back to the drawing board. :|
At the time I did this video this process worked about 50% of the time BUT only on the cart numbers I posted on the description. Non others!!!!
Yeah, that was the risk I was willing to take. These carts are so new that there are no tutorials on how to do it (good ones) or 3rd party carts available online to buy. I bought a kit and some OEM carts (as backup) and figured I would give it a try. Didn't work..
Wait, so how you going to reset them anyway even IF you could refill them?
At approximate 16:40 you say DO NOT push any air into the cartridge! But earlier you showed us to push air in until the diaphragm bursts! And, at this point in the video, it appears you have water in the syringe, however you do not say a word about putting water into the cartridge... very long and fairly confusing!
Not at all! You first pop The diaphragm the cart needs to be perfectly empty for that. You use air to do it. Then you refill with ink. It is at that point you do not want to inject air. You want only ink.
Can someone figure out the surecolor P8000 carts please. If it is even possible
Nothing available yet!
I tried popping the membrane [the casing exploded, I got covered in ink?] took a photo but it save me from stripping it!!!!
Jose Rodriguez
Hi Jose, it was an old epson cartridge off a r220 printer [I used a 10 ml syringe] But no real harm done,
Like your video
Jim
OK a cart from that old of a model would not want to NOR require using this method. If you look at the underside of the cart you will probably two circular taped over holes. You can use the method I demonstrate in the "Long Winded" method of refilling EPSON carts. They require a special little valve you can buy from Rjettek.com I demonstrate the complete method on that video.
Joe AKA Jtoolman
Just buy a new cartridge, remove its chip and glue it to your old refilled cartridge... it could work.
That can get expensive and extremely inefficient wouldn't it? Why not just use the new cart which would probably work a lot better than the one you modified.
I meant rjettek!
BUY THE NON OEM CARTRIDGES!!! THEY ARE ON EBAY! BAM! DONE!
+Auset McChristion-Thomas Yes nothing better than using lower quality carts on you printers!!!
+Jose Rodriguez so true
Auset McChristion-Thomas
very helpfull
Thank you.
Thanks Bro
I have XP-211 I need help
Can't read your mind so.... If you mean refill your carts, you can't. This only applies to old models.
Anyone got any cracks on 288i cartridges?
Nope.
1 ml of water = 1 gram, but isn't it fair to assume that ink has a different density than water? Thanks for the helpful video!
bookguitarguy Except I've actually weighed 10 gram of ink on my lab scale and it weighs 10 grams.
Jose Rodriguez Alrighty then, fair enough... I just didn't have my magic mind-reading hat on. :O))
Jose Rodriguez Sounds good, that definitely answers my question!! :O))
Sorry. Yes in the world of Refilling everyone calls a cartridge a Cart.
Do you really dont understand cartridges as carts? Your comment sounds stupid.
Don't listen to this guy if you don't want faded prints and angry customers. BAD ADVICE!
