You've improved SO, SO much. I'm in awe. I used to watch your videos ages ago and then the algorithm did its thing and other things popped up on my homepage. Discovering you again and processing that you're the same artist I once knew is just awe-inspiring.
Actually its more like: Okay guys so lets start with the head, draw it however you want, and then you do it like these simple li- OKAY GUYS I DID SOME STUFF OFF CAMERA
I love the way you explain this. Most artists I see when giving tutorials like this give “tips” that only please their art styles or preferences. This is genuinely good info on how to arrange it realistically. Thank you lavender
I absolutely adore your new character designs, they have such a menacing, unhinged vibe and I'm living for it. I'm assuming these are designs for your upcoming comic, and I can't wait to see them in action!
I don't think these are new characters she's made for anything, she just likes character design Especially if it's just a helpful tips video, then it's more likely the characters she drew are just for the video
I can’t be the only one who has trouble drawing a characters hair in a side or back view especially when it’s a character where you can’t find a reference for their side and back profile
The short hair tip might be useful for at least short hair back references. People have a natural whorl to the way their hair grows, but you really see it more in short haircuts. It's usually there on the back of the head.
"For short hair, choose one point for it all to spiral out of" Okay, got it (Cuts from a few lines to beautiful, perfectly drawn hair) UH I THINK WE'RE MISSING A STEP HERE
but what artist hasn't drawn scars at some point of their life (especially in the facial area)? Though, I feel like she was more, idk, fluid with it? Like, it looked like the characters actually have scars for a reason and it isn't just slapped on.
Absolutely helpful and so simply explained!! Thank you!! Please make more helpful tip videos. Your place the hands to help position the arms video was a game changer !
establishing a hair line is THE MOST simplistic, life changing advice. I freaking love that. In all my roughly 10 years of hobby sketching, I can't believe I've never thought of this!!!
Before this my hair looked like a flat shape with random lines- I swear your tutorials/tricks are the only ones that I really stick with because they work with almost every style and aren't based off a bias for things like spesific color, or how to sketch the "right" way, etc...
Putting the hairline on the head helped me out a bit. I've been doing it for a couple months now. Sometimes it helps so that my characters don't have too much forehead, but sometimes I either drew the head too large and I'd need to move the hairline more down. I still have a lot to master but yeah, the hairline tip is very good
*YES! THIS!* I did the same thing when trying out hair again, on my first real try at a human character. Getting the hairline done first, instead of just *doing* the hair, is more helpful, and even allows you to properly draw and design a characters hair
I thought I was gonna watch this to learn something I didn't know, but It seems that that's my exact process haha! It really does help to draw the full skull and the hairline!
Since I’ve seen this I literally always do the spiral thing and i feel like it’s definitely helped alot- Also I always do hair last on the head so that it just covers everything because my hair is purely lots of lines bunched together (sometimes not)
I’m making a Webtoon with a lot of fantasy worldbuilding, so I like to think about what hair they have and why. You need to think about where they and their family are from, their role in their society, the functionality of their hair, and the culture surrounding hair. For example, someone who’s family is from a more desert area might have thicker hair that needs to be protected in cornrows or dreadlocks. They worship a god of healing and are part of a pacifist group that helps war refugees, so functionally, they may have more time to braid their hair. However, they probably would need it out of their face, so some tightly braided dreadlocks pulled back into a ponytail by a scarf with religious patterns may be a good hairstyle for this character. It’s all about storytelling without words, and this shows that the character cares about functionality, religion, and taking time off to be with family/friends.
Make sure you’re drawing the whole skill- draw it like you’re making a ✨weird little alien baby✨ Ah yes, the alien babies are wonderful. Seriously, though, this is very helpful

The most important part is indeed to choose the ‘parting’ where the hair sprouts from, whether long or short. That little tip changed my life XD
@Carl The Meatgrinder The most important part is being born so you can have a genetic code in which this particular skill will be engraved.
Anime girl parting is nonexistent
@Carl The Meatgrinder it's not an inborn skill, trust me.
I honestly think it depends on the style you're going for tbh, some styles don't have any and it works perfectly fine
@Carl The Meatgrinder that's not how it works bro lol
