Hi Kim and Fam, So sad that you are being treated this way by the builder. You need to put your energy into putting them out of business. It’s almost over and you can get on with life. You look so stressed and that’s no good for you. ❤you guys and can’t wait for all this to be behind you and to see a smile on that pretty face.

I feel your pain. When we built our house we found out deep into the build that our GC was cheating us out of a significant amount of $$. We wound up cutting our losses by firing him and becoming our own general contractor. Things went much smoother and quicker after that. In addition we decided to finish most of the interior ourselves (drywall, hardwood floors, tile etc). We learned a long the way, and it turned out beautifully. Best of luck and lots of love to you and your family. ❤️

Hey Kim, I was just thinking about you last week and low and behold...there you are!!! I have 1 word that will explain your hassle with your contractors.......Ineptness! that's the only explanation for American workers of today!!!
I do miss your wood turnings so I will be praying for all this ineptness to go away so you and your family can live in your new beautiful house. I can't Waite to see you turning wood again. If I win the lottery, I want to buy you a Robust lathe. I have one and they're the best!
Hope to get another update soon. Stay healthy and be safe. I pray you have a Happy and successful New Year!

Sheesh Kim, as a home building contractor with 40 years+ experience, I'm heartbroken for you and disgusted with your builder. Even with the delays in goods being shipped, materials entering in the "larceny" realm, there in no excuse for what you're going through. I, and most of the builders I know in my region, do work as they would like it done for themselves. I'm getting too old to do a lot of the stuff I used to do, but the subcontractors I use do not have to be monitored to make sure they do it right. So sorry you have the kind of builder I warn people about. I pray it ends well and fast. I absolutely detest the kind of builder this guy has shown himself to be. This I saw from the beginning of your project. I hoped that it was just a misread from what I saw and perceived. Project management is critical, good subcontractors are critical, this guy is an embarrassment to the trade. He's an excuse making, needs to go out of business builder. I live about as far away from you as you can get in these United States , in eastern Washington state. I would, but I can not help you finish your house and it galls me to see this unprofessional clown-donkey create such misery for you and your family. I pray for a miracle.

"Cast all your anxiety on Him for He cares for you." Phrases my wife and I use a lot is "in 100 years, it won't matter." and "it's all going to burn some day." and "That's a first world problem." Helps gain perspective.

Hi Kim, sorry to hear your issues with the builder.
I am a Finishing Carpenter by trade, I have been in new home construction for the last 22 years, 95% of my work has been in high-end custom homes.
From what you described about the builder and his site supervisor it clearly shows that they are a hack builder who cares nothing about the client, only their money.
This builder is slow for what is being built, they are also very shady for their ineptitude for building a house without a basement, it looks like they are more of a production builder where quality is NOT one of their priorities.
Hold back 15% of the final payment if not more, make them accountable for their work. I hate loser builders like this, they give ALL builders a bad name.

I know how difficult and stressful building a home is. Sorry to hear this has dragged on for so long. I was just thinking about you today, wondering how everything was going. I’m going to give you some advice, obviously it’s up to you if you want to try this. I can tell you it has worked for me and my family for many years. Create a vision board, you can just use poster board. Put on the board everything you want to see happen and when. A picture of your finished kitchen, a picture of your finished bedrooms, bath, garden ect.. Write the dates for completion next to each one. I know you’re a great artist so, sketching them if you can’t find a pic would be even better. Every morning and night mentally picture you and your family living in your home by the date you’ve chosen. Mentally visualize doing Valentine’s Day cards with your kids at your kitchen table in your home. The next part is harder than it sounds but, try to avoid putting any energy into negative thoughts. For instance; ‘they’re never going to get the tile done.’ Or, ‘at this rate we won’t be moving in until summer.’ I’ve done positive projection for over 20 years and it works. Sending you and yours healing light.

you can use your pigs to clear your land until they're slaughter weight, they are really good at turning up the soil and eating roots and overgrowth.

Some builders. Hope they get this one over the line quick, and to your satisfaction. Glad to hear you are still fightin' strong and determined as ever. Your health will improve when you get on a routine in the finished house. I'm rooting for you guys to see the last leg of the job through with the grace and discipline you have in abundance! Here's to 2023! 👍

Happy New Year Kim, I’m glad you have given us an update, I understand the stress of taking so long after what problems you had in the beginning. When we built our house 45 years ago, it took 3 months. Will keep you in our prayers, hopefully they will complete the house before the permit runs out. Good luck, and keep us posted.

Plant greens like mustard and spinach to enrich the soil with nitrogen. I hope and pray you get into the house soon. Your health is more important than worrying over this. Just remember, God's got this, so keep the faith. Prayers for your health. Things will work out. When we built our house we lived in a truck camper with two small children. It was a trip, lol. But now it's great memories.

I’ve been thinking about you this week, and was happy to see your update. Sorry you are going through the issues with the builders. I understand your frustration. The house looks good so far and move in day will be exciting for you and the family. Have you met any of the neighbors yet? Hope they are nice. Hope the doctors can figure out what needs to be done to help you feel better. Will continue to pray for you and the family. Have a wonderful new year. 🎉
