My only problem with SVG animation is that you need SVG. I work alone and I suck at illustrator so I can't really create beautiful animation like in the exemples in the video because I don't have the material for it.
Also inkscape is awesome,really intuitive. I had few weeks with inkscape I was already making beautiful stuff. Even though I sucked better too..I just looked at example vectors and recreated the my way

Have you tried sketch? It's vector based and the UI is far less intimidating.
