That scream at the beginning is flat-out jaw-dropping.
65 years old, and he makes 99% of all metal singers sound like rank amateurs.
The man was born to sing, just like Buddy Rich was born to play drums and Jimi Hendrix was born to play guitar.
We won't see his like for a LONG time. I feel so privileged that I got to see him live six times (twice solo, and four times with Heaven and Hell).
I just wish I'd met him.
My dad saw him twice with Heaven and Hell, and got a chance to meet him along with Iommi and Geezer. He says he was a pretty cool guy.
And dont forget: he was already stricken with cancer...
I had the happiness of seing H&H one year before Dio died, in Rio de Janeiro.
When he did this exact screaming, i got stunned. What an amazing singer he was.
@David Topchiev true..this is the one performance with that pitch..i never came across any other performance with that high scream...
@David Topchiev Same... I'm stunned. Was there some kind of playback technical enhancement going on?
0:12 This "Come on" has paid the show itself
Precisely.
One of the absolute best things i've ever heard...not exaggerating even a little.
I agree Ronnie really got up there! what a scream! COME OOON!!!!
Best part ever in the entire heavy metal society life 🤘
He really nail that one FUCKING EPIC
God-like opening scream
+Myscha the sleddog Sends the chill down my spine every single time.
probably nothing like his scream when Jesus kicked his ass into hell ~
Max Warren same!!
theothertroll dude wtf is wrong with you. God took Dio because he wants to form the worlds most awesome band in heaven.
He was christian bruh, oh wait the name
This is not music. This is pure power!!!
Christopher Lee said that this man was one of his favorite singers. No joke. He has damn good taste 😃
Ronnie just screamed an A5 (in the key of Ab). o... m...g.... I've never heard him do that in any song till this one. Damn.... That IS higher than Halford's stuff in his prime and this guy here is pushing 70! I knew he was going to do something but that?
😗😗😁😎🤩
İndeed never heard before
Actually is A5, I wrote the same mistake talking about Glenn Hughes screams in Burn - Live California Jam (I commented those A6 screams were mind-blowing and a vocal instructor corrected me about that - A6 would sound like Alvin and the Chipmunks! xDDDD )
Dio was an incredible vocalist nonetheless, he is sorely missed!
Sorry, but this is a A5
No joke. That scream is what has brought me back to this video numerous times. Dio was a badass!
Geezer Butler is a MONSTER bass player.
Got tired just watching the energy he puts into playing here.
At 0:20 you can see that the bass is basically an extension of his body. He's so familiar with it and puts so little effort into playing that anyone would think it's easy.
the scream always give me the chills
+Tamon K same
+Tamon K same here
>64 years old. goddamit
me too me too
you mean the one at the beginning, right? it s unreal!
That scream is absolutely fucking delightful.
How the hell did he hit those notes at that age, with such power and force?!
He is the DIO aka GOD
Well, regular healthy sport, absense of alchohol and drugs, positive spirit.
Ultimate bad ass
With the power of forbidden orc magic!!! Or something!! Who gives a shit?!? He left us with so much gold.
@@metalslayer777he drank plenty of alcohol
Oh my fucking God, that high note Dio hits at 0:14 blows my fucking mind everytime I hear it. He was in his mid 60's and sounds great! Long live Dio!!
and had cancer
Top three, no question.
That note is an a3, 3 octaves above normal male pitch.
@@lightonconspiraciesteam2751 A5
It caves my skull in with pure metal force. Literally gave me chills when I first heard it.
Some bass players use picks. Geezer Butler goes apeshit with his fingers even at this tempo. What a hero.
+SpectacularName I think he uses both tho sometimes goes with a pick sometimes with his fingers.
I've seen him use a pick a few times, but I'm mostly impressed with how he proves he doesn't need it to be accurate at any tempo.
+SpectacularName Agreed, Geezer Butler is the best bass player ever.
+SpectacularName Yeah, Geezer is awesome, big influence on my playing :)
To me the most notable change in Black Sabbath when Dio came on the scene was in Geezer's work. His playing got tighter, faster, and more aggressive.
An unholy scream, white shirt and a white guitar.None so blacker.Awesome.
Obviously the greatest heavy metal singer of all time.
@@threalismaradona9899 he greatest heavy metal singer of all time
@@threalismaradona9899 The greatest, sorry.....
I'd say #1. Bruce Dickinson #2. Ronnie James Dio #3. Rob Halford
@@moderndayhereticNope, I'd say #1. Dio #2. Bruce #3. Halford.
@@luamoliveira3467 Let's be honest, all three of them are pretty neck and neck. They are head and shoulders above the rest.
Ronnie James Dio's voice, his scream at the begginig, this is fucking unhuman, this is clearly Godlike !!!!!
The man was in his mid 60s and had cancer. Truly the God of Heavy Metal
0:11 Fucking effortless A5 scream from a 60+ year old man. Dio was still awesome up until his death, and hadn't he have died, he would've been good for many years to come. Unlike most of his peers, he didn't blow out/lose his voice over the years, if anything it got better with age.
Its funny, because he's also, apparently, self-taught.
ShortFingeredShreder it's a B5 ;)
Daniele Stefani I checked it out, and the note he hit corresponds to the note on the high e string at the 17th fret (on guitar), which is an A5.
Daniele Stefani No, it's just a shrill A5
ShortFingeredShreder my mistake :)
DIO!!!!!!!! That SCREEEEEAAAAM!!!!!!!
This was SO amazing!!!!!! My 2nd SHoW was DIO special from the Spectrum
One of the greatest shows I ever saw. To hear these guys do these absolute bangers live was a dream come true. RIP Ronnie, you still rule.
Brilliant musicians too. Geezer Buttler. Tomy Iomi.
Not much can match this. This is not music this is pure power.
His voice was so powerful he didn't need a mic, he only held one in his hand for visual effect and to not be accused of miming
Hahaha!
He's one of a select few who can do that. Only others is Freddie Mercury and Rob Halford
@@Bartman954 And Bruce Dickinson.
@@seamusnalaoch6409 no Bruce really could not do that scream now, maybe 15 years ago, but not now
You mean...?

POWERFUL!!!!
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYAH!
too long has no one responded adequately and yes, I'll show myself out
That scream he does at the beginning gives me chills every time. He had such an amazing and powerful voice.
Ευτυχώς προλάβαμε κάποιοι να τον δούμε live..Μοναδικός, αεικίνητος, νεότερος και από τους νέους! RIP
Pay attention kids this is what a real singer sounds like, no auto tune just pure talent.
Very True Indeed, Dio A Vocal God 🤘
I was there. My only time seeing Dio in person. I could not hear for a week.
lol
I saw this tour also, couldn't hear for a week eather!
Wow, that’s what I fucking call black sabbath, it’s so good and heavy it literally makes you deaf
I’m. So. Jealous.
i was there too .plus it was my birthday !!
That intro scream , oh God , was pure epicness! R.I.P Dio..
That one A5 scream just paid for the whole freaking show.
From a drummer point of view, Vinny Appice is just amazing.
Best drummer Sabbath ever had.

Much better than ozzy on 13
And dieing of cancer
Get chills every time I hear that opening and Dio`s scream.
Ronnie may be the best Vocalist of all time.
Tony is such a bad ass on that guitar.
love him. here in Dublin.
Jim Morrison GODBLESS Dublin
Iommi is usually considered the lord of the riff, but he can play a ripping solo.
He's the BEST actually
Ricky A. Double you He is in my top 5.
Ironically this song is fitting to what is going on socially today. “If you listen to fools, the MOB rules”.

I CAN'T STOP REPLAYING THAT FIRST SCREAM. THANKS GOD FOR DIO.
WOW WOW!!!!.. I CAN'T STOP LISTENING TO THAT SCREAM!!!..ITS HIGHER THEN HALFORDS SCREAMS EVER!!!...C'MMOOOOOONNN"
@S yeah well, he's dead, Halford is still here, I will say some of his latest screams are up there.. he's come back in some way of screaming with the lower tuning guitars.. check out victim of changes live sometime, it's awesome..IMO
I've played this clip hundreds of times over the years and I still get the same result when Ronnie nails that scream at the start. Goosebumps then Fuuuccckkkk.
That intro scream..epicness
God damn his Voice will be forever with No match.. no one can come near Ronnie.. R.I.P.
Occasionally a band will come along with so much talent that it leaves you in awe.......this is one of those times.
DAMN that clunky, chunky bass tone is the baddest sound EVER!
Greatest singer to ever grace this earth!
Spot on
Whoa… simmer down. He’s top tier but I wouldn’t say greatest ever.
Saw him when Dio started. Never seen a Metal singer. PROJECT his voice so professionally he reaches out with the Horns pulls back with a fist and projects . Watched that man sing like an opera singer for an Hour. Never been so proud to be associated with HEAVY METAL RIP RONNIE
a small guy, a great and incomparable voice
I have a good friend who is like that, his name is Al Reilly...holy smokes, the man can sing! The name of the band is Catalyst; check them out
In my 50's. Listening to Ronnie for about 30 years all phases of his career...That " Oh C'mon " wail at the start I'd NEVER heard before. WOW!!!...Many great vocalists have come and gone and are lingering. But NONE with the persona and stage presence of R.J.Dio. He had a way of moving, gesturing and playing to the crowd that was his very own territory. All the way down to his unmistakable Dio attire...Ronnie is not gone my friends. He's just gone Stargazing riding the never ending Rainbow.
"Watch out!"
Dizzy Nacho 💓
Dio did that exact same scream in Mob Rules when Heaven And Hell played here in Rio, one year before his passing. He was from another planet, best Heavy Metal singer of all-time.
I remember seeing Ronnie in Athens in 2005. He would do these screams, just like in the beginning of Mob Rules, and we'd all just stare at the stage, slack-jawed. He wouldn't do this kind of things in the studio, simply because they wouldn't fit the songs. But that doesn't mean he couldn't do them. Which goes to show what kind of a musician he was - a legend, perhaps the greatest metal vocalist of all time.
Yeah, the closest he ever got to doing any screams as insane as the one he did here in a studio setting was on Wild One (from Lock Up The Wolves), and that was a step below the A5 he hit here. Most of the stuff Dio recorded was melodic bangers that called for something that would be easier to sing along to, but Wild One had this sort of quasi-thrash metal quality to it that made an gut-wrenching scream highly appropriate. Man, I wish he was still around, he'd probably still be able to perform well in his late 70s, though everybody eventually either quits or passes.
@@hellsunicorn Many people find it impossible for a male singer to hit a G5 in full chest voice but not in relation to Ronnie, that G5 he sustained in Wild One was in full chest voice with throat distortion, he has a great mastery of laryngeal technique and a high level of muscular compression and vocal resistance compared to other vocalists, I isolated that note in order to find any peak vibration in his head, because then I would think it was a voice mixed in dense register in chest voice but I didn't find any peak vibration in his head voice and he amazingly nailed that distorted note in full chest voice with a lot of control in the projection.
Not including those screams on studio also has the advantage that not forcing himself doing them in every show. Since they aren't featured on the original, he can decide if to do them or not. For the audience is also a surprise.
His scream at the start gives me chills...love it
What a scream!! Just proves that Ronnie STILL had it in his mid 60's at that time- he was around 65 or so. Dio FOREVER!! 🤘
RJD was drinking beer and smoking a joint before going onstage somewhere. He was asked if he was going to warm up before the show. Dio looked at the spliff and beer and said 'I am warming up.'
The masters captured at their peak. So you still all later 50s. Dio was older but still in good form here.
man that A5 Dio hits at the start always gets me!
That scream!!!! Ahhhhh CMONNNN!!!!My hair stood up !!!
Force of nature!!!!!
The one and only GOAT 🤟
That opening scream....blows me away every time
oh man that scream
The best metal sceam ever!!!!!! period
DIO..... The most impressive Voice I've ever heard!
MEGA GOOOSSEEBUMPS FROM THAT SCREAMMMM!!!!!
The scream is the magic
I love the two "phases" of Black Sabbath, with Ozzy the riffs was slowly & are the principal influence of doom metal but with Dio, riffs are most "technical"
That is the best description I have heard of the two eras of Black Sabbath
There are more that two phases haha
I miss Ronnie! The scream at the beginning is awesome. He didn't do that too much in his vocals but He certainly nailed it! Incredible!
Best scream in rock and roll history
If there were any Dislikes on the bar I'd lose my faith in humanity.
00:13 Wow. RJD was on his game that night. amazing.!!
I come back every few months just for that scream! Unbelievable
The greatest rocker who ever lived
Classic and masterpiece.
Omg just realised that scream is a A5 in proper integrated head register. Pavarotti and Gedda eat ur hearts out
Best heavy metal voice
The entire song rocks but that SCREAM is why I come back to this video over and over ... Geezus ....
Only OG rockers need apply! 🤘🤘
even with stomach cancer {full blown} Ronnie was a better performer than most front men . 70 years old HOLY FUCK
RIP Ronnie, That is simply the best high note I've ever heard. Rob Halford would be proud!!!
Never. Heard. Ronnie. Scream. Like. That. I. Went. Wtf. Love. Ronnie. RIP. ❤️
His voice makes everything sound epic and true
I watched this twice in a row. I NEVER watch videos twice in a row! I gotta say, I've seen a metric shit ton of shows and Ronnie is the only vocalist that ever gave me chills in a live setting. I saw him both solo and with Sabbath several times and he was NEVER off by the slightest amount. RIP Ronnie.
I get chills every time he sings! Miss him. 😭😭😭😭😭😭
Ronnie brought the show. That scream was awesome!!!
Miss Ronnie. What a force in the metal world.
I'm 12 and when I'm an adult I'm probably gonna be blasting this album and song, along with pink floyd, black sabbath, dio, alice cooper, ozzy osbourne, and other bands along with those.
I don't understand why there aren't over 100,000,000 likes on this video! Just the opening scream alone merits even more!
Dio. Bless him. Stomach cancer was knocking on his door, but he's still up there pushing. I wonder how his voice would aged from here. You can tell his emphasis and breathing control is reduced here. His voice was starting to age at this point
Talk about 4 veteran rockers in 'THE ZONE'--This is not music. This is pure fucking power!
That solo at 1:30..Iommi is the very definition of metal
David Luiz Everything that Iommi does is metal, he invented it.
Chris S If iommi says beiber is metal...it means beiber is metal..nobody can disagree

THAT SCREAM BLOWS HALFORD AWAY!!.. OMG!!!.. GOOSE BUMPS DOWN MY BACK N LEGS!!! ..LOVE IT DIO!!!.. WISH U WERE STILL HERE BUD!!
Let's not knock Halford or Bruce Dickinson they're both great but Ronnie is the best

God he's nearly 70 fighting cancer burning by chemotherapy and fuckin rocking like a fuckin legend, god i miss dio 😢,R.I.P YOU LEGEND ❤.
I sometimes forget how insane this man's vocal skills were, so I remind myself daily. Hitting an A5 or A6 note at 65 years of age is unbelievable. He is really the best singer in the history of rock and metal. RIP Ronnie
That riff never gets old
I was there. I was on Geezer’s side 10 rows back. Incredible.
0:13 Incredible !!!
Thank God we have tons of footage and studio/ live recordings to remember what a fabulous showman and singer he was not to mention his songwriting skills...
I'd rather watch something like this that shows his passion and talent rather than that ghost-like-back-from-the-dead hologram tour...
And I never ever got the chance to see him on stage let alone talk to him...
Tell ya what. Aside from his brilliance on 100 levels, he loved, truly loved, us, his fans. He was a good person and a great metal front man, in that order.
The greatest voice Metal has ever heard
@1.31 the master at work
