I saw this movie when I was 6 and it scared the shit out of me. Specifically the ending where they all get home and the kid finds his parents and family all dead after waking up.
I legitimately had nightmares for years, specifically of being attacked by monsters in the shower, or coming home from school and finding my mom being eaten by monsters... never knew the name of the movie until the interwebs, just it was some movie where goblins turned the kids mom into green slime in the shower and ate her. I remember waking up in the middle of the night and my dad was watching it, he didn't think anything of changing the channel likely because of how derp it was, and I was more confused than scared. But then the j/k everybody dies Italian ending happened and child me was not prepared for that...

I was somewhere between 3 and 6 when I caught my cousins watching it at my aunts house, but I had the chainsaw scene implanted into my memory. It took until I was in my late 20's to even find the film. It's a favorite good bad movie now, and the documentary is nice too.

I know the "OH MY GOD" line is iconic, but the scene with the sheriff and the girls line is my favorite part of it. I couldn't stop laughing when I first saw it.

I think the intention of the dad taking off his belt in the 'Piss on hospitality' scene is that he's gonna beat the kid with it, but I always thought with the juxtaposition of dialogue it meant he was about to take a piss on the kid.
So yeah, literally no good way to read that scene.

I remember being in grade school (is it referred to as primary school in Ireland?) and my class was separated into groups, and each group had to write a story together. My group came up a story about a teacher who was secretly a vampire whom we ended up naming "Mrs. Eripmav". Of course, her name is just "vampire" backwards. Looking back, I wonder if the kid in our group who came up with that name had seen Troll 2 beforehand.

I remember this movie fondly... it's always been a favorite to watch-and-bash. Amazing that Troll, which was not exactly cinematic gold, beats this movie by such a wide margin.

On Jay’s point about first time viewing of cult classics, my first time seeing John Carpenter’s Halloween was at an anniversary screening in the Lighthouse. The audience cheered and laughed for all the scares and kills and it did kind of take me out of it, still enjoyed the experience but I regret not having seen it before that to have a proper immersed first watch

It IS very appropriate to group Troll 2, Samurai Cop and The Room together. What they all have in common, as well as obviously being legendary so-bad-they-are-good movies, is how they all had directors/writers whose English was very bad, which made for hilariously bizarre and even plain grammatically mangled dialogue.

plot twist the kid is actually the oh my God guy and this is a genius time travel movie.
The film having an Italian crew who couldn't speak English explains why the dialogue's so bad and unnatural sounding. It's how some Italians not fluent in English thought English people talked.
