Madeline Nielsen I think it’s pretty inflammatory to say that it’s his fault that people can’t get a career in acting because of his own doing. He was born in a family with connections, how’s that his fault? If you were in his shoes and had his passion, would you not go for acting and take the chances you can?
Everyone is criticizing him for this video, but he literally admitted right in the beginning of the video that he doesn't see his roles as iconic. If anyone should be criticized here it should be GQ, not Lucas.

Chill with all of this criticism. The guy has had a momentous childhood career and more! Already nominated for an Academy Award! He'll only get better.

His role in MBTS was riveting and quite iconic given his age and budding experience in the movie industry. I don't think I could have the honor of being nominated for an Oscar at the mere age of twenty.
@@moisemensah8233 I don't think he was THAT good in it, definitely didn't warrant an Oscar nomination. I think the movie was very popular in awards season and he was able to ride that wave. The other actors DID deserve their nominations tho. I think a better actor would've done more with the part.
@Ryan AkwarI really can't comment on Tye Sheridan, as I've only seen him in the X-men movies, and he didn't really have that much to do. I know he also does a lot of indie films but I haven't seen any of them.

To the people here talking about "nepotism"...does it occur to you that someone who grew up in a theatrical family of writers and actors might, you know, go into acting? That the son of a writer and an actress might be more likely to go into acting than would the child of laborers? That such a young person might show an aptitude for it, because that's the environment in which he grew up? Was Jane Fonda's successful career secondary to nepotism? Jeff Bridges's? Miguel Ferrer's?
Hedges is good. He's thoughtful and subtle. His father's authorship of What's Eating Gilbert Grape and directing of some films might have helped open some doors for him, but if he hadn't been up to the demands of a film like Manchester by the Sea, he would have been replaced within the first week of shooting.

Lucas is really good. And I think especially for Ben is back or boy erased he’s the best choice for the role. He’s deserving of the advantages he had and will have. And to not take those advantages would be dumb.
They all talk about it too, they're so open about it and don't downplay that that's how they got to be where they are.
He's been very active in the last 3 years. Very happy for him. Wish him the best.

That opening joke was amazing. There was no denying his performance as a supporting character in Manchester by the sea, mid90s or lady bird but yeah he is surrounded by other great leading performances. He's so great to recognize his roles are mostly supporting.

It’s honestly freaky how much Hedges role as the older brother of Stevie, Ian, in Mid90’s reminded me of my own older brother and my relationship with him growing up. My brother was always kind of distant and awkward too, and had anger issues similar to Ian’s as well. In spite of all of that though, there was still this weird unspoken bond between us where it was clear he cared about me and wanted what’s best for me regardless of our extreme differences, and I truly think Lucas portrayed that kind of relationship perfectly on screen.
i love how for every movie he goes "that was the happiest moment of my life/career" HAHAH what a guy! i really loved him in lady bird and manchester by the sea. definitely one to watch.
