Jeff, You have made a huge difference in a lot of people's lives, including mine. Consummate professional but it is your personality and positive attitude is contagious. Thanks!!!
If you stop and watch this RUclips video and take away good information, at least give him a THUMBS UP as a way to say thank you. He's always more than generous with his time for us all! THUMBS UP!!!
Finally, I can give Jeff a tip. 😂. When opening those type of buckets, it really helps to put your fist in the middle of the top and press down as you pull open the lid with the other hand. Works for me anyway.
Just want to say thanks! Excellent video (and channel) and detail. I have recently purchased a laser level for this purpose, now I'm even more excited to get going. Thanks mate.
Thanks to you I was able to finish my house, paint and renovate my entire kitchen like a pro. Your videos are the best, they really encouraged me to do it. If you ever visit Argentina, you're invited to dinner and have asado with us😂
Jeff you and your son make an amazing team togther! You guys have taught me alot of things that help me in building projects around the house! Your videos are humerous helpful informative. What a blessing you guys are! God Bless You and Your Family and the work of your hands! Love the vids keep em rolling!
This is my first post ever, have to just shout out a huge thank you! Your videos have given me so much knowledge and confidence...you have also confirmed my suspicions and explained my frustrations in dealing with my contractor and his guys over the years. I now know why I have been so unhappy and why it is time to move on...even if it means just doing the bulk of things myself.
Jeff I had the same kind of problems with the ceilings in my house. In some rooms they were sloped, in others they were wavy. It always came down to the crappy hand-cut roof trusses twisting, bowing, and separating from the wall top plates. In the rooms I renovated, I removed all the ceiling drywall (because it had crappy skip-trowel texture), and shimmed the truss bottoms until I got within 1/8" of perfect level from corner to corner. Installed new-construction light cans, slapped on new drywall, and the crown moulding looked picture perfect after. It really paid off, I could never get that aesthetic by cutting corners.
Great job. in my house that ceiling is the floor to the second level. We are currently designing a new option to refinish as we are unhappy with the final look. will keep you updated!
Iv bin watching since the black eye episode and IV done a little bit of work in my house so yes great teacher keep it going and I love the work man's bandaid I do that all the time
Very nicely done Jeff. All the details like the pencil outline & the herringbone detail is great. Loving your videos Bud!! Hoping all is well, Dirty Jersey out!!!
Awesome layout Jeff, that looked very designer. Very impressive. Just a thought, since you always are centered around DIY, you should have your son lay all your tile as you coach him through it as he would be the actual DIYer. Plus every time you work with him, you guys make me laugh cus family is so fun to work with. Still following you with lots of love bud. Still love all your content. Cheers
You may want to cover rectified vs non rectified tiles. Non rectified tiles may have bowing and inconsistent thickness that will cause lippage when laid in 50/50 subway offset. Wish these vids were available 10 yrs ago could have saved me a lot of trial and error.
Just wondering what kind of adhesive you use. Using all your advice and watching all your videos have help me so much threwout all my Reno's. Next step for me is installing my subway tile backsplash in the kitchen. It will be my first time doing this and I will be doing it alone. Thank you again for installing lots of confidence in young and old diy'ers.
First time commenter, long time HUUUUGE fan of yours. I had 0, absolutely NO trade skills up until I turned 30. Now I don't mean to conjure up a sob story for the public to read nor do I want any sympathy but I had no Father growing up which leaves someone with a huge void in basic life skills needed to make life enjoyable and so much easier. Had no confidence in myself because I never could prove myself with no direction. At least until I stumbled onto your channel. First video I watched of yours was drywalling. MY GOD DID I MUD LIKE PURE CRAP! 😆 I put a layer of mud on my first wall a half inch thick and didn't spread it out like I should have. That and it was ridiculously thick. I didn't realize that you couldn't use drywall screws for floors and ceilings... 😕 Which I had already done... I didn't even know that the black screws were generally drywall screws. I thought screws were just screws. So not only are you teaching people something so invaluable, you're making the world a safer place also. Once I got the hang of drywall I desperately got back onto your channel and went right on to the next tutorial video of yours. It's funny when I offer advice to people on topics I've mastered from your channel they'll start talking about some other renovating skill I haven't yet gotten to yet and they'll be like 🤨 "how the hell can you have such good advice on hanging drywall but you have absolutely no idea what a neutral wire is? Better yet, that there are THREE wires when running electrical wire, not 2??" 🤔 I tell them the truth, that I learned it on RUclips and they look at me like I'm just the definition of stupid. It may sound stupid but it's one of the best ways to learn about anything. You just really need to cross reference with the pros in that given field and definitely pay attention to the thumbs up/ thumbs down ratio. Sorry this was so long but I genuinely have to thank you from the bottom of my heart for giving me what my dad never did. The only (very trivial) complaint I have is go easy on the "wow what stupid thing the last guy did doing this". You have no idea how many times I've watched your videos and the critique your giving about how dumb the last guy is and it is the literal definition of what I accidentally did in the not too distant past 🤣. I'll feel such shame and feel like an idiot. Anyways, to state the obvious I'm definitely a permanent subscriber and a Jeff fan for life. Keep up the great work and I seriously hope one day you'll have your own TV show. ✌😎👍

Thank you for this channel, my family and I learn so much from your very practical, straight-talking tutorials. We are building a new house, but already have plans to lay thin brick veneer (2cm) over water resistant drywall, in the interior kitchen area only (the backsplash). We live close to the ocean, so rust accumulation due to salt in the air is commonplace. But there's so much information regarding supplies and how to, that we are getting a bit lost in the weeds. For example, mortar vs thin set vs all purpose construction adhesive (we're looking at the latter), should we be using wall ties, do we need a metal lath, etc.? Could you please point us in the right direction?
